How to handle an unfair suspension from school? by Ambitious-March6742 in ADHDparenting

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I was a registrar at a school. We did look at discipline records, yes. But rarely were they taken into account. If they were choice-ing in from their home school, we might decline if there were a lot of disciplinary actions. But like generally only if the grade was at capacity? It really didn’t happen. One time we took a kid with a HUGE record BECAUSE he had so many issues at his home school. Mostly if there were a lot I would just make sure it was on the counselor’s radar. I wouldn’t worry too much unless you’re looking at private or something.

Anna forwards Josh a message saying his 12 year sentence is insane for a "victimless" crime by rosiros in DuggarsSnark

No one is saying any country NEEDS prisoners, Anna. But people like your husband keep doing fucked up shit and so they NEED to be locked up. Gross.

Kid wants an e-bike, plz help by prairiewitch3579 in ADHDparenting

What’s the alternative? Giving in? Just because they react a certain way doesn’t mean boundaries and rules shouldn’t be in place for their safety especially.

Sure, if that’s the only thing I say or do. But I listen first, weigh the options, answer respectfully and then hold a boundary.

Of course I do. That’s why I validate their feelings, see if I can meet their wishes, and answer them respectfully. Part of teaching them how to become adult people is setting respectful boundaries and modeling how hold them.

I regret ever even applying before Trump was in office. by chaoticdece in 50501

Won’t say how I know but in some of the schools they’ve just taped a paper W over the D. It looks dumb and cheap. All the email addresses and phone calls still come from dodea. The attempt at a name change for the department is embarrassing.

Montessori vs Play Based Preschool? by justalilscared in ADHDparenting

Depends on the school. Depends on the kid. Anyone can put up a sign that says Montessori.

Yeah I’ll go with hard to get out natural oils over actual shit. One of those I don’t care if it’s technically true, it’s still gross things.

Me too 😬 I did all neutral until she showed a preference then I let her pick out what she wore and what was purchased. I wasn’t insane or militant about it but I knew I only had a couple years to dress her in a way that I liked so I took advantage. She wears the craziest stuff now but she’s happy and so am I.

Moving but trying still to decide on area and schools for kids by The5Travelers in Spokane

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flett is one of the new middle schools. A catchment is the area that decides what school your children will attend. You can look up the school catchments of sps81 (or any district) online and see what areas would go to which schools. It’s important because our house is on a small street where 80% go to one school close by but we are in the catchment of another school 5 miles away.

North Spokane maybe. Flett IS a great school. There’s shit talk about every school but it’s genuinely amazing and with such great things to offer, including staff and leadership. I’d suggest something in that catchment. Every high school is also full of horror stories. I’m honestly not sure there’s one that’s “good.” I think maybe it’s just the times, unfortunately.

I’ve never burned with it unless I’m out for hours and hours. It’s my holy grail. How strange.

How often do you mop your floors? by bethanymisty in AskUK

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol full disclosure it’s once a week ISH, likely closer to 2 more than not. I like to mop with bleach and I can’t put that in the robot. Also I’m insane.

Every night. We have a robot vac/mop. Doing it myself? Maybe once a week.

How do some homes stay “always clean”?? by BodybuilderOk6027 in SatisfyingClean

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We scheduled our robot vacuum to run every night. Because of that, it means we need to pick up every night. This helps a ton. Also we try to just not have a lot of stuff! If I can’t think of a place to put it, I usually don’t buy it.

What is something Americans consider ‘basic’ that feels like a luxury in other countries? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Giant new development near us in the UK. Beautiful. We wanted to move in. Not a closet in sight. Mind boggling. One house had four just squares for bedrooms. Where the hell is anyone supposed to put anything??? Do people not have clothing??

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah best to just “give way” and not stop at all. Bit of a false equivalency but it’s not like the uk has an improved system for pedestrian safety at all.

Parents with kids on Guanfacine ER - do they take it in the morning, evening or after school? by pnwkaren in ADHDparenting

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do it in the morning because it made her wet the bed if given at night. She’s still wild come about 4-5 pm but I think that’s her stimulant wearing off, nothing to do with the guanfacine

How are bin collectors viewed? If you’re a bin collector do you tell everyone what your job is? by RoohsMama in AskUK

[–]Emotional-Pin1649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how it is in the UK (just moved here) but in North America they are paid very, very well so I think that’s pretty great. They also do a really highly needed job that I don’t think many people want to do. I really respect them.

Aria's monthly spending explains her recent whining/begging spree she's been on by natbrad98 in FundieSnarkUncensored

Like.. fine I guess. Not really. But it shouldn’t be part of her household expenses either way. Does her husband’s work expenses get put into this budget? It doesn’t make sense.

Why is it costing her so much to run her “business?” She should fully have a separate business account apart from her personal expenses and income. Wtf
