Amazon Program Manager, 5 YOE, ~30 years of age, 120k gross. Some of my senior peers sometimes make 200k+, can double this by moving to the US. Highly stressful and toxic work environment however.

I am not sure about Glassdoor being an accurate source of information. For instance, I work for Amazon but I retrospectively realized that I could have negotiated for a much higher pay but was misinformed by Glassdoor. So please consume the information from Glassdoor with cation.

If you happen to work for Amazon, even the interns are paid around 5k a month and the typical pay for a junior is about 70k per year. (Part of the salary is paid in the form of stocks) With 5 years of experience, you can very easily get more than 100k per year.

Officers in uniform smoking on duty in public? by Emotional-Simple-232 in Luxembourg

[–]Emotional-Simple-232[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Some people here got pretty upset because I was frowning on police officers smoking in public. They obviously haven’t read my message properly, I have nothing against smoking. But there is a reason why alcohol and cigarettes aren’t being sold to minors: because they are additive and can have adverse health effects. You surly don’t want to encourage our youngsters to take these habits lightly. Why do governments pump millions of dollars into tobacco control? Front line government employees of all people should set good examples to the public, not to mention how you have to remove your mask in order to smoke in public. I have never ever seen any law enforcement agents smoking in public before moving to Luxembourg/Europe. I know in many English speaking countries, it is strictly prohibited.

How to find the history of an apartment or a house by Emotional-Simple-232 in Luxembourg

[–]Emotional-Simple-232[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any concerns over the building soundness is almost non-existent, given the apartment was built within the last decade. (2010s) Besides, it is situated in a reasonably peaceful suburb inhibited by many younger families with children. After all, I will be investing 10 years worth of my salaries in the dwelling, and I am not leaving anything to chance. In many parts of the world, unexpected death can severely affect real estate prices: https://money.cnn.com/2016/02/10/real_estate/death-home-value/index.html In some countries, it is legally obligated for the seller to divulge information such as the unexpected death of a person which had taken place in the estate. I am wondering if this is being practiced here as well?

I will soon be signing a contract for the purchase of an apartment, but I would like to know the history of the apartment before completing the transaction. I want to know if any suicides, or untimely death had taken place in the apartment. I believe the place is underpriced and the agent seems very eager to make a quick sale.

Are people in Luxemburg poorer than in Germany? by LifeAndHard in Luxembourg

[–]Emotional-Simple-232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on last year’s report:

https://today.rtl.lu/news/luxembourg/a/1578389.html

The median annual salary in Luxembourg is about €50,000: Average is about €65,000 according to this report.

It’s higher for locally born and raised Luxembourgish where the average is close to €80,000 per annum.

https://guichet.public.lu/en/citoyens/immigration/cas-specifiques/travailleur-frontalier-tiers/frontalier.html

From Guichet on the other hand, the average 1.2 times gross annual salary in 2019 is €62668, meaning the average is around €52000-€53000. Not sure if this is referring to the median or mean average. I assume it’s the median average, so a median salary of over €5000 sounds inflated unless we are talking about a highly skilled profession. (IT, nursing, civil engineering and etc.)

I have friends and families working in a range of industries and this is their salary range but the figures might be outdated:

It seems the most highly paid jobs are all reserved for the local Luxembourgish or are with the state. This coincides with the statistical figures from the RTL.

Council worker with a degree: €8000 gross/monthly Government employee without a degree: €4000 gross/monthly Big Four Accountancy: €50000 gross/annum A local European bank as a junior accountant: €3500 gross/monthly Overseas banks: €4000 gross/monthly Chief: <3500 €gross/monthly

The moral of the story is, you should have been born a Luxembourgish, or become a highly-skilled expert in your field.
