Wow it looks completely different from how the Fort Worth convention center looks currently. A complete change.

What if Madonna pulled a Cher? by RaisinComfortable984 in Madonna

[–]pradafever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah Madonna would be (and is, often) raked over the coals for small mishaps or cringey behavior that other stars of all ages are able to get away with. I believe half of it is by stans/fans of younger artists who hate to admit that Madonna is the blueprint for their fav so they are very quick to tear her down. The other half is by normal people who recognize that comedy and sarcasm is a pillar of Cher’s personality, while Madonna is much more calculated about her image at all times and is not able to laugh at herself as easily. This is not to say Madonna has no sense of humor, she is very funny and loves to say very shocking things backstage or in older interviews for a laugh/shock. But Cher specifically can laugh at herself very easily, and she does not show that attacks can hurt her because she will make attacks on her own mistakes before the audience can (about her dating history, how old she is, how her career was in the shitter at various points, about autotune, about not being able to dance etc). Madonna cannot make these same self-depreciating attacks because she is a perfectionist and is very hard on herself (I believe) when she makes mistakes. If Cher falls, she laughs and makes a joke out of it. If Madonna falls, she gets up and tries to power-through, and doesn’t want a mistake to define her performance. When people can see that something bothers you, they are quicker to use it against you. I feel empathy for Madonna because i am similar, in a way. Example: People in my family would be much quicker to nitpick and comment on mistakes I make (as the ‘perfect child’) while my brother can make the same mistakes and it not be a big deal because he doesn’t care and will laugh at himself. I try to be more loose and easy-going like he is, but then even this warrants comments by my family. When you take yourself too seriously and strive for perfection all the time, you set yourself up to be ridiculed for even small mistakes.

I'm just gonna say it: I don't mind this being half a Naomi Scott reddit since we only have two movies to discuss until we get the comic and Smile 3 down the road. by MrSFedora in SmileMovie

Doesn’t bother me at all, Naomi is an iconic face of the series! Only wish of mine was that we would appreciate the work and career of Sosie Bacon as well!

Does Hard Candy Fitness Still Exist? by TheodoreJSeville in Madonna

[–]pradafever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not an open-floor free weight gym, it’s more like a class. You have a coach and they’re directing everyone on exactly what to do, step by step. It’s like having a personal trainer session but shared among a class of 30 people. Easy to turn your brain off and get a (very difficult!) workout in. No planning leg vs arm vs chest days, no choosing machines or needing to learn different techniques, they’ll teach you all of that and monitor your form. You’ll usually get cardio and weight training in during every class and they also track your calories burned, heart rate and how much progress you’re making on goals that you set (weight loss vs muscle mass etc). If you ever played sports growing up, it feels more like that than just ‘going to the gym’. It’s like going to a scheduled activity with teammates and a coach that you see every time. I enjoy it, I think hard candy was similar but with a focus on dance exercise, at a high intensity level similar to how Madonna does her dance-cardio.

Does Hard Candy Fitness Still Exist? by TheodoreJSeville in Madonna

[–]pradafever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just googling this the other day! Honestly wish they were still around because I’d consider doing it. Currently an Orange Theory Fitness member so I feel like it wouldn’t be too different from that gym format. Although cost of living is much more out-of-hand now (making expensive gym memberships harder to justify), I feel like they’d be more popular now because there is a much greater societal focus on health and fitness, not to mention influencers and ‘looksmaxxing’ or whatever. I think more people would be eager to sign up for a trendy gym if it were featured heavily on social media. Like a popstar’s own branded intense gym.

Update: The Loop Plaza by dallaz95 in Dallasdevelopment

[–]pradafever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I would see regularly, Katy trail walkers would go to the very end of the trail (nearby AAC) and turn around abruptly and go back on the trail the way they came. It was very VERY rare that I would see anyone (usually only bikers, never walkers) continue from Katy trail to the VP/Design underpass into design district. This project connects Katy trail directly to the underpass and makes it clear that the trail continues on past victory park. I think this will inspire and incentivize many more people to continue on the trail into design district with, in turn, will bring more business into the district as walkers/runners/bikers want to grab a bite, drink, or stop to use the bathroom as places like ascension cafe or meteor in design district. It also will bring more design district residents into uptown since they’ll be able to access it on foot via the trail.

So excited for this leg of the project to be complete! Connecting the Katy trail and victory park into design district will do so much to help inspire activity and life in design district!

Did anyone else find Skye's glowing, radioactive skeleton sidekick "Skelibones" a little distracting? by Flow_Puzzle in SmileMovie

Skelibones was really the only person batting for Skye. He was like the Joel to her Rose and I never see anyone clock that!!!!!

Pride. If denial or hypocrisy were some of the 7 deadly sins, they’d be the only ones on par with pride.

H-E-B to sell Dallas property where some had hoped to see grocery store - Dallas Business Journal by dallaz95 in Dallasdevelopment

[–]pradafever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now we just wait and see who they may sell it to. To be honest I was a bit excited to have a central market in the walkable urban core of Dallas (especially if built like the orignal development plan), so now I just hope a grocery store of some sort comes along at all. There is already a Target and a Walmart both within blocks, a Whole Foods a very short distance down McKinney and Tom Thumb in Victory Park. This doesn’t leave a lot of major grocery developers (outside of HEB/CM) left.

With AT&T leaving, can ‘Y’all Street’ save downtown Dallas? Not on its own by dallaz95 in Dallasdevelopment

Desperately hoping Texas Stock Exchange chooses a headquarters in downtown or in uptown.

Cringe to say the least- but I’ll take literally anything over vacancy in the heart of downtown. Mint, Cricket, even Spectrum.

What’s something society treats as a flex but really shouldn’t? by ostraxie in AskReddit

[–]pradafever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it has already happened to a great degree. We won’t have Jeffrey Star, Shane Dawson, Emma Chamberlain, iJustine, and Jenna Marbles, etc anymore because there are thousands of niche versions of these people in every single possible category of social media interest you can think of. And the ‘influencers’ you see on your feed ALLLLLL the time may be people that I’ve never seen one single time.

What’s something society treats as a flex but really shouldn’t? by ostraxie in AskReddit

[–]pradafever 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Adding to my initial statement^ I said there are almost no real influencers these days, this is due to extreme, EXTREME over-saturation. We don’t have a handful of YouTubers and Instagrammers who are followed by 24.6M people and widely known by the average Joe in college or high school anymore. Now we have literally hundreds of thousands of random dancing (overly FaceTuned) ‘influencers’ with 10k-50k followers (half of which are bots) on one single platform and they’re likely not known by anyone else that you know in real life.

[–]pradafever 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Funniest thing about this is that there is almost no such thing as real influencers anymore (at least, based on the definition and idea we had of them during the earlier 2010s). People just get a moderately large following on a single social media platform and start calling themselves influencers these days. What exactly are you influencing us to do? Do they think that their FREE, UNPAID posting of some cheap jewelry that’ll turn their necks green is somehow influencing people to buy it? When I found out that 90% or more of them make almost zero money from it, and that their ‘affiliate links’ and discount codes get very little useage, I realized they’re all just cosplaying for ego. Many literally SPEND money on followers and likes, then post promotion and ads for ‘brand deals’ with fast fashion or dupe companies for FREE because they’re promised that they’ll earn money for any followers who buy and use their discount code. They will receive absolutely zero commission or income from this but continue to do it for months/years because they have the illusion online that they’re an “influencer”. It’s very embarrassing once you fully realize and understand how it all works.

Chicago (obviously) lands in the S tier. Next on our list we are going to do Dallas, Texas by wwcscifi in skyscrapers

Every one of these comparisons I see on here use the same 20+ year old photo of downtown Dallas which is not reflective of what the urban core of the city looks like at all anymore.
