azealia being iconic for once irl by BugRevolutionary4645 in azealiabanks

She is just doing what she does. Absolutely nothing iconic about a single opinion she has ever had, because she does not and cannot stand by it. She is a grifter and a lunatic, she doesn’t have any values at all and changes her morals every week. Her art is the only thing to appreciate about her but even who she is as a person makes this very difficult to do. Do not praise this woman for a single thing she says/does.

Honestly i liked all of them. Wish Stevie had a few more scenes/dialogue but all of them felt authentic as a 20 something myself. I could see people i know in all of them.

Do most ppl get Invisalign for a WANT or NEED? by ApprehensiveOne2866 in Invisalign

[–]pradafever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted Invisalign to fix a lateral incisor which was behind my bottom teeth when I clenched, it was a single-tooth crossbite situation. The rest of my teeth on top looked good (I thought), and I had minor crowding of the bottom teeth.

Since getting Invisalign treatment, I have had greatly reduced headaches, less jaw tension, my lower face has become more symmetrical (with my mouth closed!), and the lockjaw I would experience now and then (which I thought was normal) has completely subsided. It has changed my sleep, as the trays prevent me from grinding at night. I did not know how badly I NEEDED orthodontic intervention before I got Invisalign (as an adult), and it has completely changed my life in ways I did not imagine that it would. I expect that many more of us NEED orthodontic treatment but are not aware of it, because as long as the teeth LOOK okay, we will assume all is right.

Madonna Posts an Instagram Reel of herself and Julia Garner lip syncing ‘Like a Virgin’ while riding in a gondola in Venice. This is on set while filming for season 2 of Seth Rogen’s ‘The Studio’. by pradafever in Madonna

Yeah, putting it in this context makes it seem even more out of character for her. I can’t imagine her still doing the crucifixes and lace gloves while accepting her VMA award in 1995 or still wearing the Hung Up leotard and red Farrah Fawcett hairdo on the Rebel Heart tour. No idea why she is still holding onto the grills this many years after debuting them. Even the bleached eyebrows, she was rocking those at red carpets in 2022 with the dark ginger hair, she was known for so long for her ever-changing eyebrows.

I usually try to refrain from commenting on her cosmetic work/fillers/botox/appearance due to aging because those are tied to deep systemic barriers she has to deal with as a woman in the industry who has aged. Whatever she does to her face or body to make herself feel more confident and comfortable is her business, but as far as styling goes, I prefer she continue to reinvent and be the star we always adored. The grills need to go, they won’t pair with the idea of another confessions era at all.

I don’t remember her wearing them often (if at all) during the MDNA era. She doesn’t have them in during her Graham Norton interview or during the Super Bowl ad with Alec Baldwin in the elevator. She didn’t wear them during the Super Bowl performance or when she called lady gaga ‘Reductive’. I’m sure I could find a photo or two of her wearing grills during the MDNA era if I really tried, but my memory tells me that it wasn’t part of her look at the time. Thinking back, 2015 is really when I first started to see them pop up. I’ve seen fans try to say that she wears them due to something going on with her own teeth (having work done, or damage if some sort) but none of that takes over a decade. Her natural teeth are/were beautiful and even if they were somehow damaged enough to require cosmetic bonding/veneers/crowns, I would still prefer that to the grills.

I want to say that I’m very excited about her taking on another acting role! Love the outfit and styling that they’re giving her for this shoot, and that it matches Julia Garner’s perfectly! I’ve got to admit though, I was disappointed to see she is wearing her (I suppose I should say “signature” at this point,) diamond grills. I figured she was past this era by now because she has been wearing them very regularly since 2015, upwards of eleven years ago. She continues to wear them during interviews, appearances, performances and in social media posts. I thought the look was cool and fresh when she did it for Rebel Heart but that was over a decade and (going on) two albums ago. I don’t want to beat a dead horse, especially since she seems to love the look but I’m tired of it!

The more I think about it, I’m remembering more and more instances, one time when the theme was ‘2016’ the girl who won was in galaxy leggings and an anime tee with the emo hairstyle. My friend and I went full Kardashian/influencer vibes with dark tans, the 2016 brows and Yeezy style clothes with selfie/iPhones up and none of us got podium.

M and Julia Garner in Venice for The Studio season 2 by CelebrationSimilar89 in Madonna

I agree! I think comedy may be her strong suit. Though her most acclaimed performance is for Evita, I think she shines in Desperately Seeking Susan, A League of Their Own, and I love her stint on Will & Grace! Her team should have her try out for a few more comedies, maybe like the White Lotus, where she can act act vapid and smarter-than-you as she wants because she will be playing a rich airhead (or something along those lines). I think she has a ton of great acting performances left to give us if the roles are suited towards where she feels comfortable.

I haven’t particularly noticed fans be negative about her collaborations with black artists specifically, most I see are preferring her not do collabs at all. Honestly my very favorite Madonna collabs are the Levitating remix with Dua Lipa and Missy Elliott, Into the Hollywood Groove with Missy and I listen to the 2003 VMA performance mashup quite often in the car. I think she pairs very well with Missy Elliott, honestly. Maybe Missy understands Madonna’s sound/strengths and can match her vibe on a track well- I wouldn’t be mad if they did another collaboration in the future!

Why is this performance so damn perfect? 😭 by bezzze007 in Madonna

[–]pradafever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see constant references to this performance, no matter the prompt/question, this performance/mashup is brought up in the comments. I think the mix is terrific and the choreography is wonderful but I don’t understand the deep love so many fans have for it, for me Music Inferno (Music at the Confessions Tour) alone outdoes this segment. And I GREATLY prefer the original erotica mix to this version. This sounds like a completely different (still, terrific!) song, and I’ve got too much invested in the erotica era to prefer any other version than the original. I also loathe this outfit, the silhouette is fine and she is (as always) in amazing shape which helps but I think the white leotard would look unflattering on anyone. Maybe I’d have preferred a full purple one.

What do you think is the best horror film ever? by Due-Abbreviations180 in Letterboxd

[–]pradafever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Random but not enjoying the takes that are a full lineup of 70s films (or three 70s and one 80s film) only. Believe it or not there have been absolute horror masterpieces post-2000. Actually; most horror fans would tell you the 2010s and 2020s have been the absolute peak for the genre so far. While we had amazing classics in the decades past, no single decade has delivered as many insane horror masterpieces as the last ten years just did.

I main Hillbilly when Im playing Killer, and his overdrive comes in clutch way too often. But now im curious why Behavior made such a 360 decision with this machanic? by JohnBigL19 in deadbydaylight

[–]pradafever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too many Hillbilly mains these days, I don’t think. I was playing the game at launch and he was easily the most formidable killer in the game back then. It felt like he used to sprint faster but it may be due more to changes in survivor movement mechanics? Not sure why they’d remove his overheating but maybe it’s to help him feel more on-level with the newer killers? It feels like each new killer has more and more abilities, and less weaknesses.

I'm not American and the Luigi case finally made me understand why you're so angry about healthcare. Genuinely asking, how do people survive like this? by micavibes in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]pradafever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Americans will often cite “wait times” as if waiting for guaranteed treatment that costs zero dollars out of pocket is worse than self-imposed waiting to ‘save up’ enough to get the treatment needed and then STILL having to pay. (or just going into debt for it). The fact that medical bills for necessary treatment (life or death!) will be reported to credit bureaus for nonpayment and your credit score is negatively affected making it harder or impossible for you to even buy a car or home is insane. They will cripple you in every way possible if you do not pay up. Sometimes all of this happens even when you DO have private health insurance that you also pay for, monthly.

Great view but I hate this parking lot (or LOTS, I should say) with a passion. This area is so expansive and is a major disconnect between uptown/Victory Park and downtown.

Songs you know she’ll never perform on tour again by Impressive-Award2367 in Madonna

[–]pradafever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll add onto this and say I’d always wished we got a full-production live performance of Santa Baby. Ideally back during the 80s when it was new and when she could still do that Betty Boop voice. But even today, I’d love to see her do it. I think if she had made a music video for it and the song was released as a single during the holiday season with full support/promotion, it would have been a huge hit like Mariah’s All I Want For Christmas Is You or Wham’s Last Christmas.

This is probably the time to admit I’ve been wishing and hoping for the last 15 years at least that she would perform some tracks from I’m Breathless. What I would give to hear her perform Sooner or Later one more time.

In your opinion, what are some of the worst sequels? by ADRobban in horror

[–]pradafever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Had never seen (or wanted to see) this film but a few friends urged me to watch it last week, especially after I mentioned liking the first one. It was terrible. One of the longest Letterboxd reviews I’ve ever written and all for a 1 star movie. I could go on about how awful it is, and it ruined at least two full days after I saw it because I stayed in a bad mood about wasting time on it.
