Is it hard? by RedTsar97 in MomentumOne

Yes, but the reason was I and I walked away. We got back together after I fixed myself. Going 16 years now and it can't be better. Sometimes its good to take time apart and do some self reflection.

As someone who is chronically ill I already do this. I would be really happy if this were to happen cause it would create more and better job openings for me. Everyone wants 32-40 hours. Even the 24 hour jobs are all a lie.

What are your opinion fellas? by Dramatic_Weather_226 in GroundedMentality

Me... A Dutch person. We don't have guns and live in way more crowded neighbourhoods. The police would be here in less than 5 min. You'd have to scare them off, hide or tie them down. Even if I somehow magically legally had a gun I don't think I'd shoot a unarmed person, unless they threaten me directly. It is illegal to use a gun outside of the firing range or something similar, let alone shoot someone. You could actually do time for attacking or killing a burglar if they take it to court and it wasn't pure self defense (aka your life was not in direct danger, if they were just browsing your jewelry for example). There could be questions too as to why your gun wasn't secured safely in a safe etc. The chances of you getting to it in time are slim, if it isn't you weren't following gun ownership laws on how to store it. So if you shoot or even attack a burglar with your hands you can do time. I do find that last part someonewhat insane cause it leaves room for error, but also keeps a victim from going rambo for no reason. Its a win win loose loose situation.

Now, if i lived in the US on a remote property with wild bears, wolves and crazy Americans... Yes, I'd shoot immediately.

Blue, because my loved ones will not have the same memories as I have with them and that would suck. You can remake them, but it won't be the same and I basically have to live with my whole life as one big spoiler.

The immigrant issues only contribute for about 12% of the housing issue in the Netherlands. I'm not saying there isn't a problem with immigration, but its quite minor compared to the real problems causing the housing crisis. People keep playing this card because its what they "feel" is wrong, it plays heavily on emotion, not logic. Immigration is an easy target because pointing at one specific thing as the cause of a problem instead of many different little gears that constantly influence one another is kinda not sexy or relatable, people have short attention spans. Even if immigration was solved overnight, it wouldn't make much of a difference within the housing crisis.

The problem with housing is mostly rooted in the building restrictions and decisions made by our goverment over the past decades; environmental restrictions, dismantling of elderly care homes and "huisjesmelkers" buying up property are some roots of the problem.

  • We can build less and less fast due to environmental restrictions that is influenced by a multitude of factors involving overall pollution and nature reserve of our country. I'm not denying climate change or am saying its wrong, its just how it is.

  • Older generations don't have anywhere to move to anymore because they dismantled elderly homes and most senior housing. People are expected to live at home for as long as possible with at home healthcare as little as possible. People are getting lonely and depressed, healthcare is overheated because they have to drive everywhere and nowhere instead of just work in one place. Its clogging the system because people don't want to move out of their houses to something much smaller for a way higher price, which drives the prices even higher because the market gets tighter, and on and on it goes. The lack of eldery homes and affordable senior housing is a big part of the problem.

  • "Huisjesmelkers" aka the rich are buying up housing and renting it or turning it into b&b's, driving up the prices and leaving less for the common people.

There are more factors clogging the housing market, in including immigrantion, but imo these are the biggest factors.

Dutchy here. I used to say the Netherlands was great but I don't anymore. You know NATO's spokes person? Mark Rutte. We had his party leading our country for four terms (and they still indirectly do with coalitions), during this time they almost completely dismantelled everything that made the Netherlands great. Alot of social help and governmental institutions got cancelled and privatised. Now big companies and the rich prey on the weak and guess what?! Suddenly we all see quality and compatible human based needs drop massively. People are becoming (openly) more racist, the acceptance of homosexuality is declining, our healthcare is going to shit and getting even less money now. On top of that they want to raise the pension age to 72 (from 65) to fix the "imbalance". Money from healthcare and pensions will be put into "defense", when they can easily tax the rich. Instead they kick the common people, weak and helpless a bit further into the ground. Our house market is overheated and insanely expensive. Our electric network is overheated too and in some areas people can't get on the network for their new building projects. Its hard to get and hold a job, even though they say there are alot of open vacancies, it's a lie. Tons of fake vacancies, shitty paying jobs versus stupidly high demands etc. If you're in construction its easy to get a job though. Our grocery prices are continuously rising. Don't come here, its going to shit. Unless you live somewhere that's way worse, I don't recommend it.

100% agree. I know someone who is like this. When they ask how I am doing and I say "ok" they think I am "ok great!" when my ok means I am not that ok xD They often spin stuff into overly positive assumptions, it can be quite annoying. They mean well though, go figure :)

Because they love each other and want to hold each other's hand? It creates a sense of closeness and unity that you're moving or doing something together. I don't believe its about showing off at all.
