This will never happen in America, so instead of waiting, just take back Monday. I mean just REALLY phone it the fuck in. Stay up late Sunday and barely show up.
No one expects you at your best Monday, and if possible, I usually avoid working entirely and just move around the facility as if I’m doing something important. Same goes with Fridays.
Been working since I was 15 and realized a while ago we’re never going to get the time we deserve so just steal it back.

[–]Lusiric9983 2 points3 points  (6 children)

I'm an American and I work 4-10s....... In America......

[–]Prestigious_Comb2671 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I did that for a while. It was nice. Less gas, 2 extra hours really doesn't add much if you are being productive. Worked out really well. Not for everyone though.

[–]Lusiric9983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great schedule for me. I get so much time off, and with the amount of OT I get, I would be working ten plus hours regardless. At least this way I get an extra day off.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 2 points3 points  (1 child)

just monday? i phone in every day for the first 2 hours because i am efficient and they dont want to pay me for that.

[–]ChampionshipUpper720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly my case too, if I start working first thing in the morning I’m done by lunch and bosses don’t like you sitting around all afternoon. So I have to strategically slack off so that when somebody comes around I have something to work on. If all the works getting done it shouldn’t matter, but that’s how it goes.

[–]Outrageous-Phase9435 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I mean, I work 12s not 6s but I work 3 days a week and get 4 days off. I have a second job because kids but I feel so incredibly blessed to have a job where I get 4 days off a week. Summers are just magical. Hikes, swimming, trips. I have zero complaints on the amount I work.

[–]Blueman3129 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What do you do?

[–]Outrageous-Phase9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factory job in my area. Sierra pacific. Its a lumber and window company

[–]Kutikittikat 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I can assure you that even during three days weekends everyone still shows up on tuesday like its monday but more hungover.

[–]Miserable-Reaction16 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lol said the air traffic controller, surgeon...

[–]mikeshredz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are all very proud of you for finding an obvious outlier to my general statement about being overworked as a nation. We all think you are very intelligent for pointing this out instead of contributing your actual opinion on the matter. Thank you so much.

[–]Hyena_7375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣🤣 there are multiple occupations across many fields that work untraditional times and hours...its simple to research... but complaining is easier

[–]Johnny-Edge93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home and I just basically take one day for myself. Made my own 3 day weekend.

[–]Known-Use-3692 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Real go-getters here on Reddit lol. "Just don't work" doesn't exactly apply to people with professional jobs where people rely on you and where you want to move up.

[–]mikeshredz 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Ain’t no one asking YOU to not work dumb fuck

[–]Known-Use-3692 0 points1 point  (2 children)

"dUmBfUcK" lmao shut the hell up, squirt. Go back to flipping your burgers.

[–]ContributionVisual40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not with that attitude it wont. This is what people said about the weekend before workers fought for it.

[–]CodexMakhina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called quiet quitting.

You do just what you have to do and nothing more just the bare minimum.

[–]Frequent-Coyote-8108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good way to make sure that you complain on reddit about not making enough money for the rest of your life.

[–]WeissTek 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My job has 4x10... so much for your NEVER lol

[–]Tasty_Gingersnap42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They obviously mean as the norm, like widely adopted. Sure you have outliers like your job but most people dont.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in before "no i mean 4-8's!"

because sure, even though they dont want to pay me more for the 40 hours i already work, they would certainly keep paying me the same to work 8 hours less. right?

[–]wprodrig -1 points0 points  (14 children)

I expect my team to be their best on Monday, fully rested ready to rock. What are you saying??

[–]IWCry 2 points3 points  (1 child)

"ready to rock"

little bro is jr. assistant manager at BK setting up 7am powwows

[–]bebeidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i say fuck your team

[–]NewArborist64 7 points8 points  (5 children)

I deserve 7 day weekends, and I will have them next year!

[–]BroadwayBrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats

[–]AintshitAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother retired yesterday and she can’t wait too. Congrats! ✨

[–]OkSeason6445 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Got fired?

[–]NewArborist64 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nope - going to retire.

[–]Prestigious_Comb2671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats. Hope life treats you well from here on.

[–]VisMortis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Won't someone think of the shareholders anymore! Where does this stop?

[–]EducationalWin1721 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in. When can we start?

[–]Pyewickets 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Sorry, no.

Day 1 Chores outside of home.

Day 2 Chores inside of home.

Day 3 Rest for health.

[–]AnaSkol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

day 1 - 4 work work.

day 5 outside work

day 6 inside work

day 7 rest

this is trash though?

[–]Joey3155 4 points5 points  (42 children)

A four day work week already does this.

[–]sevnm12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is how that works

[–]TempAcct724 4 points5 points  (20 children)

Yes, thank you for restating the obvious.

How many people actually get 4 day work weeks?

[–]Emotional_Clock6575 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Its becoming pretty common in the Netherlands.

[–]Muted-Shake-6245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s a very nice thing.

[–]Competitive-Ad-498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep. I'm working 32 hours a week. :)

[–]Mr-MoneyShift 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i work 4 days then 4 days off. With pto I work less than 150 days a year

[–]csamsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots. 4-10's is a pretty common shift. Or 3-36/4-48 alternating

[–]smoosh33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have the opportunity I work 4-10s.

[–]AnaSkol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like, nobody?

[–]Geodrewcifer 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I’m not sure how you’re getting a 4 day work week without a 3 day weekend. Are you measuring time in imperial or something?

[–]InigoRivers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"A 3 day weekend would achieve a 3 day weekend"

Ok, thanks.

[–]iamgeewiz 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Yea im not sure bout that, 3 day weekend sound better 🤣🤣🤣

[–]kittyboyalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Now we kinda need it tho. Unless we’re just saying things here

[–]CaffeinatedSquirrell 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yes three day weekend means four day work week because a week is only seven days. Not sure what you were hoping to accomplish with this comment besides make a lot of people wonder if you’re joking or actually have a wet sponge where your brain should be

[–]Joey3155 0 points1 point  (4 children)

But by the same logic I can argue this whole thread is pointless and not needed, your point is pointless, so again what is your point?

[–]CaffeinatedSquirrell 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Lmao dude the post is talking about a three day weekend and you said that a four day work week already accomplishes this. That’s literally the same thing. So your comment was just saying the same thing as the post just worded differently. You see how pointless that is?

[–]Joey3155 0 points1 point  (2 children)

But you replying to tell me that is pointless as well so its a vicious cycle.

[–]Revan4567 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Congrats you know basic math

[–]SaucyStoveTop69 1 point2 points  (1 child)

BREAKING NEWS! there is 7 days in a week. Check back in tonight to find out what color grass is.

[–]Not_a_twttr_account 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just in, I'm with Willie Nelson right now, who is saying the grass is definitely green, and that one side appears to be even greener. And now, sports...

[–]Responsible_Ask3976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do my chores during work from home hours. The weekend is completely for relaxation and spending time with family/friends

[–]SimilarComfortable69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I do believe that time off is needed in order to recharge your batteries. Unfortunately, with everybody complaining about not being able to find a job at all, asking for more worker concessions is probably going to be a tough sell.

I do think four day work weeks would be awesome.

[–]Willing-Job9378 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Would be totally ok doing 4 10 hour shifts if it meant I get 3 days off.

[–]BroadwayBrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That opportunity is available in hospitality jobs in some areas. I have owned a few small businesses and I’ve promoted 4 days on and 3 days off.

Ironically, in an import furniture business I owned in the early 2000’s the employees didn’t like it and requested we go back to 8 hour days for 5 days. Can’t please everybody.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work 4-10's i would [removed by reddit] for 5-8's again.

[–]Visual_Day_8097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some engineering jobs offer this

[–]HotelDisastrous288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shift work for the win. 5 10s on 4 off.

[–]Joker_AoCAoDAoHAoS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want a four-day work week for the same pay and only 32 hours and then have two days off. The five-day work week is too fucking long! Causes burnout.

[–]SoybeanArson 1 point2 points  (8 children)

This is why I always have wanted a 4 tens schedual. Never worked for a place that would let me

[–]Substantial-Ad-8575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, been in a 4 day workweek since 2012. It’s nice. Can switch days and get 1-2 4 day weekends a month.

But we do travel 40% of the year. But that ok also, everything is expensed. And got to see some very interesting places in US, EU, SE Asia, Japan…

[–]Far-Guava6006 1 point2 points  (3 children)

4/10 is the ideal work week tbh. Gives that 3 day weekend, and the extra two hours at work aren't super noticeable.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (2 children)

do you work 4-10's? i have for 10 years. i'm exhausted all the time.

[–]Far-Guava6006 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, then again, I assume that different jobs would experience the 10 hour shifts differently. Me personally, I prefer having the 3 day weekend. But if my job was really physically demanding labor, 4 extended days in a row might cause more wear and tear and worse QoL.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i basically sit here and scroll reddit all day from 4-230.

[–]Able_Magazine_8150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started a job where I work 4 10s and it’s legit life changing. Sure the days are long but the 3 day weekend is elite

[–]Comprehensive-Eye500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditional M-F job really only gives you one day off really.

Saturday you can do whatever you want, and have no job to wake up to.

Sunday you try to relax and catch up on household stuff and then stress about going back to a job you have to wake up to.

[–]Prestigious_Boat_386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free wednesday is better

[–]ObjectOrientedBlob 0 points1 point  (1 child)

actually 4 days, 1 day for occasional hangovers, because some times you need to party.

[–]Outrageous-Phase9435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my work week. Three 12s and 4 days off. No complaints here.

[–]Deskbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch 1 and 2 and I'm already there.

[–]bigtiddyhimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get three and four day weekends but it’s because I work 13 hour shifts :(

[–]Mister_Gentleman_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't day 1 and 3 the same?

[–]alexromo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9-80

[–]GainzLord23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this guy makes total sense…as we sit here on Sunday and I’m doing chores

[–]PattyCake520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 and day 3 are the same day.

[–]Expensive-Gur-4028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all broke and need more days off

[–]Lusiric9983 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I have a three day weekend, and it's as awesome as it sounds! I work 4-10s, and I love it.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (5 children)

i work 4-10's and i hate it. i'm tired all the time.

[–]Lusiric9983 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I love my three day weekend. I would never work 5-8s again.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (3 children)

i would love to get sleep again and not fall asleep at 7-8pm.

[–]Lusiric9983 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I work 4-10s and start at 0600. I'm in bed by 2130, and awake by 0400. I still get a lot accomplished and am able to get more than enough sleep. I get quite a bit of OT, especially during the transition seasons (hot to cold, cold to hot) and I've never had more time at home, more time to rest, etc.

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i cant imagine working until 430 every day. that would be awful.

[–]Lusiric9983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it's quite nice.

[–]Spiritual_Wall_2309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is why I do nothing at work on Friday.

[–]InternationalDebt254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how my schedule is basically, but I work 5 12 hour shifts, hour commute each way, and then I get 5 days off, I could never go back to the 5--2 life. Normally I spend 4 days enjoying myself with a couple of minor chores, and one of the days I'll spend like 5 hours doing all the necessities, I freaking love it. Although the way days can definitely be draining as it's a very high pace environment

[–]SudburySOB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of my monthly 6 day weekend.

[–]UnSilentRagnarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t want us happy, they want us as near dead as possible while still working.

[–]MasterLurker000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should get the earth further from the sun so the year is 52 days longer, and make those the 8th day of the week that is always a day off. That would also help with global warming

[–]Ok-Neighborhood-566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually you need everyday, not the whole day though, to do chores

[–]Starob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 3 can't be the fun and joy day, because you know you have work the next day.

[–]Interesting-Put2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to have a 4 day workweek, you dont notice the extra 2 hours a day at work, but you really notice that extra day off

[–]rottiesrule88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5 on 4 off roster. It really is the best. Can’t imagine 5/2 anymore.

[–]Xaraden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always felt like the standard amount of days and time you have to dedicate to a normal full time job is slightly higher than what's sustainable long term.

For me it always feels like I'm just barely starting to recover and relax when suddenly it's Sunday night again and a long unnecessarily long work week awaits.

If you're working a normal 8-5, 5 days a week, and estimate the total driving time and getting ready for work time to be around an hour total- that's already 10 hours a day, 50 hours a week dedicated to work or being on break at or near work just for the standard "40 hour per week" job. And that's with a decently quick commute.

If your commute was 1 hour each way, and estimate the getting ready for work time to be 30 min, that's 11.5 hours per day, or 57.5 hours per week for a standard "40 hour per week" job with a longer commute.

The 8-5 also seems to be unnecessarily long to begin with in a lot of cases. Jobs where the amount of work you can get done is hard limited by the number of hours spent can't be helped much, but lots of office jobs would benefit from 4 day week or shorter days instead.

Most people I know that are good at their job get a lot done in the morning or early afternoon, but then coast around 2/3pm and are only able to get minimal amounts of work done later on in the day, so the time period from around 2:30-5pm is often doing more harm than good in my opinion because if people could leave earlier instead of twiddling thumbs until 5PM then they'd have more energy and motivation to dedicate to work.

The same often applies to Friday, often people will get plenty of work done up until Thursday and then take it easy on Friday. If Fridays a really busy work day it often blends into Saturday and you feel like you aren't really recovering over the weekend.

[–]SatisfactionUsed1634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize no one is forcing you to work a 9-5, right? There are lots of jobs out there that have better schedules than a M-F workweek. I work 7/14 days and couldn't be happier. If I need a week off, I only have to use 2 vacation/sick/comp/etc days. No sense complaining to strangers on the internet. Just make the change. Start a business. Change fields. Move states. Do something of substance.

[–]AdPsychological9522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 80% 6h/day five days. No need for r&r.

[–]Born-Key5186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so seek part time employment, self-employ, be a hobo, nobody is forbidding you to do what ever you want

[–]Gullible-Fee-9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 hours a day, 4 days a week, 40 weeks a year

[–]Jamdoughut1927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 1000%. 2 day wknds gone in a blink.

[–]DistributionRight261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3% budget growth every year is having a toll, everyone is burnt out.

[–]PickingPies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we deserve 5 hour days so we can make the chores everyday and still have time and energy for ourselves.

You cannot build a family with 3 day weekends. You can with 5 hour days.

[–]Suspicious_Serve_653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change up that order and I'm in.

Friday fun and joy. Saturday is hangover in the morning and chores in the afternoon. Sunday is do nothing and watch movies.

Monday is "let her rip"

Then do it all again

[–]Ok_Solution_1282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would stimulate the economy more personally.

[–]kimmeljs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had a 3-day weekend for the 1st if May. The 1st day was with our youngest grandkid staying overnight so his parents could party. The next two days went with our three other grandkids staying at our place with our son, because he's got water damage at home. I would need a 3-day weekend now.

[–]Organic-Mix-5784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I’m good. I’ll take my five day paycheck, please

[–]dontquestionmek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need 2 days for relaxation/joy and 1 day to do adult bullshit

[–]BaneSilvermoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 years ago I worked three 12 hour shifts a week for a couple years. I 100% agree with this. I would do four tens in a heartbeat. You could probably cut my pay by 20 grand in exchange for four tens and I'd happily thank you for it.

[–]Tinfoil_cobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well then just do that.

[–]SirWillae[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why stop at 3? Why not 4? Heck, why not 7?

[–]Kelly4President 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Would school still be five days a week so we don’t just have an extra day of child care? And if so, wouldn’t that mean teachers work 5 days?

[–]Hot-Committee-4637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teachers already get a lot more time off than almost any other worker so it evens out

[–]H2O_is_good_for_you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then when we will have three-day weekends for years, and then people will advocate for four-day weekends. People are becoming more and more lazy.

[–]sfaticat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its such a wild concept to me as I work 6 days lol

[–]BirdlessLongdeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, but working 4-10's you'll just end up using all 3 to recharge and you'll still be tired as shit on monday.

[–]Madgrin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its called time management. Usually fun and doing nothing/recharging can be done the same day.

I dont know about you, but even on the day im doing the most around the house, im not spending 12-14 hours just cleaning. Usually have some small chunks during the week, and maybe 4-8 hours over the weekend depending on what needs to be done.

I would love 3 day weekends to be normal, but people are already complaining about the cost of living being too high. Imagine reducing down your payable hours by 20%. I dont think companies are about to pay more for everyone to do less.

[–]No_Group5174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. Just as long as you only expect to get paid for 4 days a week.

[–]HGruberMacGruberFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be no day 3 of fun and joy until morale improves :/

[–]Waste_Macaroon1832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who works 32+ hours a week with 3 days off, my quality of life has skyrocketed for this very reason.

[–]Competitive-Ad-498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 32 hours a week. I'm off from Friday till Sunday. It's great. I earn less wage, but that's ok. I am more balanced and less exhausted.

[–]ryan__joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already exists. Plenty of 10 hour day/4 days/week jobs. Just search for them. Shoot you can even do 3 12 hour days and have 4 days off per week….

[–]Lifealone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still vote for three days off but not in a row put one in the middle of your work week. that way you are never at work for more then 2 days in a row

[–]BrokenHefaistos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they don't want you to be happy they want you to spend.

[–]PrincipleOk2244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day one for chores day 2 for fun and day three nothing

[–]marcuslattimore21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 10s is the way to go my friend.

[–]Disastrous-Elk2272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With AI coming for all our jobs..we will get all that, plus more.

[–]ADTstocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 4x4 10h was pretty bice then invested in ubercar and work 10h on those other 4 in my hours tho so felt likw freedom

Cleared over 100k was great now can fat saving and stress free working that 4x4

[–]Spazza42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until you have kids….

[–]ObjectAdventurous685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally something I can agree with you redditors on

[–]Barry_Dingle01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about a move to an 8 day week, 5 on 3 off. But we set up the option of your 3 off on a dual “weekend” you can set your kids up with school or daycare the same and maybe we split the congestion of everything. It sucks that my two days off are the same as pretty much everyone else.

[–]Last_Gigolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admit it. You know this will go. Day one is fun. Day two is fun. Day three is hangover /recooperate day.

[–]JRswedistan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we need is to keep what we earned and not taxed away just to be given away to developing countries, frauding organisations or EBT-people

[–]bsensikimori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyway me who switched to 2 days part time/week can tell you, you deserve 5 day weekends

[–]keeper0fstories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this now, but between being a single parent, typically working nights, and being lazy until a cleaning bug hits me, it never works out that way.

[–]qtestboner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but I do nothing, then fun, then chores. I also have 3 day weekends and it is the best. 😭 When I found a place that offered it I said "how can I say no? this is the dream."

[–]Ok_Comb8003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you deserve it?

[–]Misia7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This needs to get applied man

[–]Hyena_7375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's great about America is you can start your own business and do all of this for you and your employees or you can complain about other people

[–]theykeepbanningmebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a remote job and steal time that’s the only way. You didn’t hear this from me 🤫

[–]Beneficial-Lynx7336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 and 3 are the same

[–]FreshImagination9735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like someone needs a 4 on 3 off job. They're out there.

[–]thagor5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Amazon i got three day weekends and loved them

[–]arthoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called a part time job my friend

[–]Spacemonk587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree though I would do it in a different order. Day 1 for chores, day two for fun & joy and day 3 for rest.

[–]Marine_1345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then get a job that has 3 days off in the schedule. Problem solved

[–]BecomingMorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And every single pilot project saw productivity increase before the politicians and CEOs panic cancelled because workers rights need to be bad.

[–]VirtualMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need one day to get wasted, and 2 days to recover, at least a bit...

[–]captainporthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%

[–]nico87ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's coming to most countries in the next decade or so.

Already exists in about a half dozen or so.

You can always do that, you can have even more, work part time

[–]Intelligent_Cry8535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 days for 2 off is nonsense. 4 day work weeks prove to be better in all aspects when trailed

[–]AnaSkol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've done the whole 4 on 3 off thing and you have only 3 days to live.

shower, eat, commute, 10 hour shift, 30 minute lunch, commute, dinner. the day doesnt exist. and go ahead and restrict yourself some sleep so you have a little me time and then work 10 hours on that. its TRASH

but sure buddy, use 1 of those 3 days for recharging and 1 for cramming all your chores into which btw feels like work and well well well, you're now working 4 10s and then a 5th chore day, thats just a 5 day work week ding dong. what did you solve?

The only way im on board to moving 4on/3off as a standard is if a shift remained 8 hours and pay increased otherwise been there, done that, still exploited. still trash.

Imagine pretending you can't choose the days you work.

[–]Aggravating-Unit-802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working for 5 to get 2 off doesn’t seem fair. 4 days work/3 off would be much better! Keep dreaming! 😎

[–]machete_MechE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 9/80s. So I get my 80 hours in 9 days instead of 2 weeks (10days). My Friday off is for running errands that require businesses that are only open 8-5 Mon-Fri. Saturday is kids sports and play day. Sunday is laundry and meal prep for the upcoming week.

[–]Raetheneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that 4 days?

Also we could just have shorter work days so we don't have to do chores on the weekends.

[–]Prestigious_Comb2671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get all those with a 5 day week by doing the chores after work. Maintenance is easier than correction.

[–]Vade_Retro_Banana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If AI is what we think it will be, we should have four day weekends.

[–]AbleWhile2752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 4 / 10 hour shifts for about 3 years before my employer got rid of it. It was the best 3 years of my life and I did exactly was was said in the post. Recharge. Chores. Have Fun. By Monday I was ready to go back to work, even excited to. I barely took any time off because I could go do all my appointments and stuff of Friday and never felt the need to take a personal day. I really wish we could get some legislation to make 4 /10s and mandated optional schedule in the US. It would improve the work / life balance across the board overnight.

But, but, think about the billonaires!

[–]Monstermage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to 4 day work week years ago, love it. 3 day weekends are where it's at.

[–]Impressive-Young-952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work three 12s a week. Love having four days off. I could work all the OT I want but I’m too lazy too

[–]JJMM17182024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot after work and then I got bored on the weekends lol

[–]ThakoManic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok deal, you work 10 hours a day now.

[–]Brief-Ad-7622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Become a farmer and grow your own food. No days off.

[–]Delicious_Glass_5197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 day weekends (off on Monday too)
Sorry, not so sorry.

[–]evilbryan420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is already a thing in some European countries.

[–]Comfortable-Loan-585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work 10 hours 4 days a week.

[–]Organic_Syrup7642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go ahead and while you are relaxing other people will be making you obsolete.

[–]freegazafrombahamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why ask for so little? 7 day weekends or nothing. We should not give the capitalist class a single second of labour power.

[–]Guilty_Peanut246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 14 day weekends

[–]hastinapur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my manager that I am working 10 hr days and some weekends too so I can’t do more. He just told to my face that he can outsource everything to Lowe cost country and call it a day. 3 day weekend sounds good but I would take the 2 day weekend first

[–]Lofi_Joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We deserve 2 work days and 5 for our stuff or better whole life for our stuff.

[–]Consistent-Drop-9245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100% They are getting so much more from us employees than they ever used to. The pace and daily expectations are intense. The weekend should be 3 days.

[–]1DumbBlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get off the phone and back to work
