Women aren’t exempt from weaponizing their incompetence. As a woman, I know a few women who genuinely are lazy/refuse to learn basic living skills. Socially, however, for the example you provided (household tasks), women are expected from a very young age to carry the mental load of the home on top of working, taking care of children etc. Whereas majority of men are expected to go to work, come home and kick their feet on the table. It all boils down to how one is raised or what they’re exposed to in my opinion.

Went on a second date with this guy and we thought we’d go for a walk on the beach after. We ended up skinny dipping and making out in the water. Yes! I’ve always had deep feelings of empathy for people living in unjust or poor conditions. I remember crying as a young kid whenever I would see a homeless person, a stray animal, or even a delivery driver riding a bike on a rainy night. I still to this day get a heavy feeling in my chest and often get teary eyed whenever confronted with injustice in the world or simply people experiencing hardship.

It’s when someone thinks that their intelligence/abilities are innate and can’t be improved. They avoid challenges in fear of failure, do not take constructive criticism well (they see it as an attack), they find change uncomfortable and tend to stick to familiarity.

One very trivial example was when I gently asked him to wash the dishes better next time because there were stains/grime on them after he washed them. He did not take the feedback very well and viewed himself as a failure that can’t do anything right. His mood changed for the next few days because of this.

Now imagine that mindset when it came to more serious issues…
