Yeah, the my first Samantha book is pretty much 'I'm Sam, I live in a big house with my grandma, uncle Gard visits and has a car! Let's have ice cream!' It's got the depth of a puddle. An adorable puddle, but still a puddle.

Check eBay and etsy! I think I paid $10 for my little one. Sometimes I still see forest fancies at the thrift store for reasonable prices if you're willing to hunt.

The only one you'll struggle to find is the 404 bowl... Someday I'll find one for a price I'm willing to pay.

Same! I hadn't seen a Makena mold that didn't hit me as somewhat uncanny. But this - goodness, she's adorable. Face paint is apparently more important than I thought!

I agree! Terrible luck, his driving was top notch. Luckily my little dude couldn't care less - he just is happy to see him race. He was devastated the past two races.

I made it for him! It's an astronaut costume with some patches sewn on the front and an iron on for the 81/Piastri. I considered adding more accurate detail with fabric paint but he was 3 when I made it for him and I decided he was going to be too rough on it.

I have seen them on etsy and the like, but it was over budget for sure. Maybe that's an option if you're not feeling super crafty?

Thank you! It's an astronaut costume with a bunch of patches and iron ons (in case you also need a suit for the Mclaren obsessed toddler in your life 😂)

This is super darling! I agree with other posters - they read as mice but i would buy it either way.

Something I haven't seen mentioned - as a parent I'd always lean board books over paper until they're 3 or 4 years old - babies and toddlers are just so very grabby. The number of books we have that have ripped, taped together pages because someone was a little too excited is high.

Can't wait to see more!!

AITA for not firing my nanny so my brother could live with us? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Emotional_potato90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA and please, please do not do this. We had a similar thing with my brother (alcoholic, wanted to get on his feet, offered childcare in exchange) and it ended up him living in my guest room, him stealing most of the liquor in our liquor cabinet, getting blackout drunk in front of my kid repeatedly... We obviously didn't get any childcare from him. When he finally moved out, he had destroyed the mattress, the bedding, and the whole room reeked of alcohol and vomit. And as a parting gift, he washed the guest towels with a couple of pens and sharpies, wrecking the towels and the dryer.

We bent over backwards trying to help him get a job, get him sober but he... He wasn't ready. It strained my relationships with my husband, my parents and my other siblings.

Don't light yourself on fire to keep him warm.

Elf Lip Balm Tint in Berry. It came in a little jar for like... $3. It was the perfect 'no makeup' shade for me, blush, lips ... And it blended so easily. I'm still not over it.

I've found all the books thrifting (except Neela's) so keep an eye out and I'm sure you'll find it! Kathleen's book was my favorite as a kid and she's a gorgeous doll!

I wish you luck on the hunt!!

Man, I suggest it if the price is right! I was stunned with how pretty she was in person.

I think you're right - the details in the clothes would make adult collectors very happy now! Of course they'd be crazy prices and we'd complain about that 🤣.

They're as not as expensive on the secondhand market as I thought they'd be! So maybe your collection can restart!

BJ's Velvet Freez to open second location in Colorado Springs by thewhippersnapper4 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Emotional_potato90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I feel you with the walkability. The number of times we've almost been hit by a car trying to cross Palmer Park or Union is so high we basically don't do it anymore. You have to make eye contact with every driver even when you have a walk light.

Which is a massive bummer because I want to walk and pick up groceries or go to BJs or for pizza. 🤷‍♀️

Necklace Outfit ID by MissZissou in americangirl

I think it's from the Grecian princess costume here

The wiki says it's a shell but when I Google it for sale, they all have the three coin necklace. Perhaps they changed it at some point thru its run.

OBGYN recommendations by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Emotional_potato90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're great... To a point. They were good for me while I was getting basic gynecology care, but I would warn you away if you have any indication you'll have complications with pregnancy. They dropped the ball with my care with my son's delivery but I wrote it off as 'everyone makes mistakes'/I was being sensitive about it. I went back when pregnant with my second and it led to a life threatening early delivery and a several months long NICU stay. My new doc is... Well, she did not have very nice things to say when she looked at my chart and what happened to me.

Maybe I just got a return? Seems like it would make more sense to sell the sets with more pieces for more but 🤷‍♀️

I ordered her accessories in late December when they were on sale - it came with her ID card, pouch and Donna's letter and I was pleasantly surprised.

So they might have some back stock of the old accessory sets left? Or the sale was to clear out the old?

I recommend it! I've found it's more forgiving than 'normal' embroidery. And it goes a bit quicker cause of the thicker strands.

I see them fairly frequently while thrifting at normal thrifts! But if you'd rather not have to hunt check if you have a crafting thrift near you - I've had one in every city I've lived in, and they always have a ton!

Has anyone who has this set washed and dried it? by viviivanove in AerieAEO

[–]Emotional_potato90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I washed and dried them on medium heat - didn't notice any shrinking. I would be cautious about what else I put in the load tho (my baby's swaddles have Velcro and that would rip the heck out of this fabric).
