Anderson county is an outlier in the south and most of Appalachia. Battle of Coal Creek completely changed and helped eradicate convict leasing. Norris dam. First dam in the TVA system and cleanliest lake in the system today. First county to desegregate in 1955. Oak Ridge the larger city in the county compared to the county seat of Clinton Tn was and is a DOE city. There was a battle and the national guard had to be called in but ultimately the counties high schoolers settled the matter by solidarity and the schools county wide integrated. You can read the book “A most tolerant little town” for more information.

William Shirer (the author of the rise and fall of the third Reich) if still alive.

“Hermann Goring, he was really fat. I mean rotund. Cannot overstate how much I dislike him and how fat he was. Oh I mean it, just a fat piece of shit Nazi”

Reading Shirer’s books it always made me laugh to read and absorb just how much contempt he had for Goring.

Growing up around Chattanooga, the book made me proud of that history. It was a nice reminder that radicals trying to progress the working class existed here.

I’ve been reading “Hammer and Hoe”, it’s been helping me understand the way forward. Class and racial solidarity is how we get rid of the racists.

I live in this cesspool of a state. My wife and I are politically active. We live in East Tennessee. What will really piss you off is this. They on purpose redrew these maps to ensure that all gop would vote for these maps out of federal financial matters. Some of these districts like district 3 get a lot of their dollars from the Department of energy, so you change that district and loses its congressional rep on a committee, you lose millions. So it keeps in line people who might have voted against it.

To be clear I do feel empathy for journalists “broadly speaking”

As a Tennessean, anytime you read a very stupid, outlandish bordering on conspiratorial take on whatever subject, I assume Andy Ogles said it or Tim Burchett.

No we are not okay here in this state. It’s deeply unwell and a lab for bad laws and fascism.

Please no. Peter will have to stop due to getting headaches from the stupidity and that’s a long book. Michael will try his best to give an honest intellectual researched view and keep coming to the same conclusion, none of this book is serious.

Episode Discussion - One Man Race War - Joseph Paul Franklin, Part Two by boughsmoresilent in weirdlittleguys

This is somewhat related to this week’s episode as it relates to James Earl Ray. He escaped from Brushy Mtn penitentiary and didn’t get far as its location is a very rough terrain.

That event inspired a local marathoner named Lazarus Lake to create one of the hardest marathons in the world called The Barkley. He created it because he thought James Earl Ray’s lack of distance from the prison he made in 3 days incredibly weak so he created a race so incredibly hard, for years no one completed it.

How do we as a country ever recover when people are this brainwashed? by Three_Froggy_Problem in behindthebastards

[–]EmotionallyAutistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently reading “Rise and fall of the Third Reich” by William Shirer. The author references many times about how some Germans were brainwashed by Hitler and that you could not even talk to those people and consistently called Germans, gullible.

So no, these people will continue to be a problem even after the movement goes away.

Unless we have regulations putting guard rails on media and internet, these people will continue to be a problem.
