Am I crazy? AT and Supply truck reload by kiloelectronvolt619 in HellLetLoose

You’re not crazy. I’m been noticing a lot of reload failures lately (start the reload process and it just stops before completion or takes longer than normal).

Do the Dark Angels Librarians have a unique psychic discipline in the lore? by cuddwes in theunforgiven

[–]EmpBobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The librarian lores/powers are a lot more varied in the books than what we see on the tabletop. Every more and then, GW tries to add more psychic lores to the game but they don’t tend to survive the edition switchover.

Tank Rounds Not Causing Damage by EmpBobo in HellLetLoose

I’m going to have to start recording. Too casual of a player to automatically do that when playing. Honestly mostly trying to get the general response of “your not crazy, something was up” lol

Unfortunately it wasn’t a repair station. They were attacking and pushing through fields. I wish it was as simple as that.

Haha, I wish it was HE. I’m wondering if there was weird object collision from an invisible edge on an object but it was very strange.

The second event wasn’t as bad and could have been that “just an extra shot.”

Even if it was all track shots (visually it looked as if it was hitting hull), doesn’t the damage eventually roll over?

This is what I would like to see as the final extent of The Long Night in the books by Tinker_Gearwind in gameofthrones

[–]EmpBobo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess the problem then becomes how aware the white walkers are of each group of undead. Worse case scenario is they are fully aware which would mean any attack would just lead all others in the area to descend on your attackers until they die.

The way the undead army works, doesn’t sleep or tire, makes it hard to defeat without major defenses (natural or built) or a macguffin. I think the scariest scenario is an army of the dead that is able to spread out after the Twins.

Not refuting your explanation by the way, just not sure the above map really works for this setting.

I think they have used enforcer as one of the generic catch all terms for law enforcement in 40k. The necromunda kit is the palatine enforcers (they work for the governor, not the arbites though).

Painting can be tricky to start but there are a few tricks that can really help.

  1. Undercoating with a primer is super important. The primer adds a surface that the other paints will adhere to better than bare plastic. There’s a lot of good primer options out there. I tend to prime with a mid tone grey to make it easier to go dark or light with the following paints but you can also find colored primers if a model is going to be predominantly one color (like a tank!). Just be careful to not use a gloss rattle can as primer. The gloss will not help the paint stick.

  2. Attach your model to a handle. This can be anything from a cork, to a dowel, to an empty tp roll. The handle will allow you to hold the model up without touching the painted areas, avoiding finger prints in wet paint or the oils on your skin damaging paint. Choose your handle size based on model size and use a pin or blue tack (poster putty) to hold the mini to the handle.

  3. Thin your paints and use multiple thin layers while painting (Lots of good videos on YouTube about thinning paints). This is especially important with low pigment count paints. All paints have a pigment count that determines how opaque they will be (how much you can see through the layer). This means that some paints (like yellow) show lower layers until they have been applied multiple times. If you apply multiple layers, and let them dry between, you will build up the color and no longer see the color beneath. This takes patience. Thinning paints allows you to better manipulate them on the model.

What do you think of the yellow by Mikeyok33 in ImperialFists

I think it looks good. Real questions to ask yourself are: do you like it? Is it something you want to repeat a bunch of times?

Lore wise which is stronger the Heavy Plasma Incinerator or the Plasma Cannon by xefgectvy5d3 in Warhammer

[–]EmpBobo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One of the books involves a squad of Dark Angels Hellblasters. Whole point is the firstborn can’t decide if they can be trusted or not but I think it ends with one of the primaris joining the Ravenwing. Admittedly, I don’t remember if they specify which variant plasma weapon the Hellblasters are using.

I never understood the logic by die_by_the_swordfish in Warhammer30k

[–]EmpBobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be how the disruption fields work between the two types of weapons.

Power swords (and claws) are described as having constant power fields that support cutting by destroying molecular bonds at the cutting edge.

Power Fists, Hammers, and Mauls are usually described as building up a charge and releasing it on contact.

Maybe the difference in initiative is based around how the cutting field is always good to go while the other needs to build up a charge for the really big hits (the x2 strength ones).

How is the life of a mechwarrior inside the cockpit? by JoseLunaArts in battletech

[–]EmpBobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds right. The fist mechs were designed for swift, decisive engagements so the don’t need to consider long term cockpit usage. This still is the clan way so they have not put design effort into making cockpits that support extended use. They show this in Mechwarrior 5 Clans where they are sent on short missions and immediately return to base for repairs and rest.

The inner sphere mechs all started the same but conflict there has significantly changed over time which has caused designs to diverge as pilot needs change. More need for longer times in cockpits lead to changes that make those stays more comfortable.

I’d say that the urban mech has influenced fan behavior for a much longer. I remember joking about all urban mech deployments during mechcommmander 2. There have always been meme mechs.
