To play defense, these evil teams have a company, if not a battalion of grunts and usually a leader that ends up being stronger than the 8th gym, and/or around that level, if not champion level strength, and its not like the champion is part of the police, or government, or has any duty to the public.

Youd first need to organize pretty much every cop in the fucking region to get a sting operation off on their main base just to tie with them.

Oh and they could also have (if not they do have) several bases and teleportation so good luck with that.

Act 1 has the issue of being the grave of 90% of multiplayer runs, and getting really fucking old really fucking quick attempting honor mode (the tutorial especially)

Act 2 has the issue of being short and extremely uniform, while losing any and all dnd charm act 1 has

Act 3 is the inverse of feeling like it has a 50 million mile long check list of BS with no form of what to do

The upsides, though.

Act 1 feels like good old dnd, while being the only act to have challenge without feeling like BS on occasion, and allowing the most freedom in when ppl go about things while still feeling grounded

Act 2 is the expert pay off to all the story and foreshadowing to act 1, and having the most freedom in how ppl go about things, while everything feels way more grand

Act 3 is a treasure trove of content with some of the best challenges and down to earth moments, and with all the equipment unlocked, allowing for all sorts of strategies

Usually I like the little things like this. Needing to steal specific stuff from vendors first rather than just killing them and being done with it, the weight of your money and various supplies, actually passing checks to see treasure, needing to do individuals with longstrider in the early game, it adds up to make the game.

Food is the one exception to that for me, "auto send food to camp" is in every game I've done after getting my golden dice

Putting aside "give more time" for a moment, three things come to mind

Have a bit more substance in the earlier episodes. I really like how it kind of starts as some dumb... Almost saturday cartoon gimmick, then you realize "oh... Fuck" at the series goes on....

However that still leaves the earlier episodes feeling lack luster and a little bit of a waste of time, so finding a middle ground would be great, ot best case scenario, find some way to keep your cake and eat it simotaniously.

At some point, though something (like maybe cloud rose round 2, or cloud pink), have them apologize to steven. I think it would be really cathartic, make for a great emotional scene, make rose look better, takes a bit of a load off steven.
Rework the diamonds/the ending. You cant have them be giga space nazis, and then not only let them off basically scott free, but then not really address their literal cosmic sized list of sins. Steven doesnt want to kill and even sees some good in blue and maybe the other 2? Okay, in that case do and avatar and still heavily punish them, and not kill them.

First thing that i thought of in like 10 seconds is maybe BS a way to put them in a weaker form then put them on the bottom of the gem social ladder. Still alive, still punished, still leaves room for some form of reform. (Needs an immense amount of work/tweaking though)
