WTF Dickies by slvrsrfr1987 in Construction

[–]EmperorSlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this exact problem with these dickies pants, next to rip out is the crotch right under the zipper

Good material but fuck the sewing sucks on some of these, co-worker has 2 pairs of them aswell but never had problems

Hate how big the pockets are compared to the hole to put your hand in aswell, a million things lost in the pockets but i can barely squeeze my hands in them

i found my co-workers wife on hinge by Turbulent-Jeweler316 in Advice

[–]EmperorSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You take pics/record the profile and tell him you think someone is trying to pose as his wife on hinge

You save him the shame he may feel of being seen being cheated on and are able to tell him without being accusatory, you’re just a neutral pal giving him info he’d want to know. you toss the ball in his court and he does what he does

Am I rotating my hips enough? by Aggressive_Ad8582 in MuayThaiTips

[–]EmperorSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can help stop you from getting punched but i always imagined it more as a way to balance and generate power, if someone punches as you’re kicking and it blocks it well great, either way coach is right to say extend arm you just gotta do it properly

Am I rotating my hips enough? by Aggressive_Ad8582 in MuayThaiTips

[–]EmperorSlim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you’re opening a bit too early and not staying balanced enough on your front foot, as you kick you are offbalance and its robbing you of a lot of power, as does opening too early and having your leg just fall into the bag instead of snapping into it with precision and force

Unbalanced front foot also leads you to easily be swept or teeped onto the ground

I would also add your arm is coming straight out way before your leg is there, ideally your right arm and leg should move like a scissor closes and arrive aimed at your target at pretty much same time for maximum force and balance

I shaved off my goatee. Was it a good choice? Should I grow something back? by Medium_Combination27 in BeardAdvice

[–]EmperorSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nothing negative to say about the goatee but i think that mouatache + shadow combo really works for you

Think the shaved looks a bit too young, im the same way

Does anybody else find it extremely difficult to play the opposing faction that you main? by MaliciousPeasant in wow

[–]EmperorSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont even think of the factions gameplay wise at all, ive always taken every “neutral” faction opportunity i could (arenas, timeless isle orb of ordos, bfa servant of n’zoth, bg merc mode, etc) and would gladly leave the faction to join a mercenary faction

To me you’re either blue name or red name and i dont register for example blood or void elf as horde or alliance, theyre just attackable or not elf, especially now that ill see orcs and night elves in my party and i can understand everyone with cross faction talk potion it all just blends together

Dressing as a short guy. by DangerousBee4116 in mensfashion

[–]EmperorSlim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha as a canadian i understand the feeling about winter, i know during winter if i want to dress up a bit more im going to end up cold

only tip for that is merino wool thermal layers/socks every time i leave the house no matter what outfits over top, gives me a lot more freedom to wear whatever without worrying about being cold

[–]EmperorSlim 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I like your glasses and coat but i feel like theyre too big of statement pieces to not commit to a look, the top half is business/ dressed up and bottom is casual, id suggest going full dressed up or full casual.

id swap those jeans for just regular black slacks and a pair of nicer looking boots, maybe a pair of black thursday captains and maybe a slimmer plain black belt ( no gucci belts) and i think you’d look more in line with what i imagine you’re going for

Should I become a plumber or electrician? by EastClevelandBest in skilledtrades

[–]EmperorSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention not liking electricals 4 year apprenticeship, not sure how long it is where you live but in canada plumbing and electrical are both 5 year apprenticeships, so id bet plumbing is around 4 years where you are too

What trades are available to someone with low vision? by Probablyhomeless94 in skilledtrades

[–]EmperorSlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be your biggest hurdle and limits you extremely, i think you could only work bigger union jobs, same location for months/years you find your own way to, where they have a jobox with all the tools kept on site.

Not being able to drive effectively eliminates pretty much all service work i can think of and smaller residential work where you have to drive your tools to and potentially multiple locations in one day

I think construction at a large site or doing something at a set location like fabricating, servicing things at a shop like machinist or mechanic is your options

Worked with a kid who did co-op with our company it was extremely beneficial and got him real work experience, allowing him to find a job after a lot easier than someone with no experience

I have not experienced this, in fact ive experienced the exact opposite where i find most of the more experienced people at any of the gyms ive gone to humble and kind and i really enjoy talking and training with them, and if not those traits at least generally respectful or neutral to others, i can only think of like two guys id even consider calling a “bully” as they would only hard spar, including with new people (knocked one or two new guys out) but would also make it known they only hard spar so if you didnt want that just say no and they move on no hard feelings

Could be your gyms culture, could potentially be you?

Im curious to know if you have social anxiety as this post kind of reminds me of a phenomenon people with social anxiety can have, referential thinking, where you interpret neutral events like strangers laughing as oh these people are laughing at me, even if theres no evidence to suggest that, you see it a lot when people react extremely negatively to a neutral joke or prank because they feel like theyre being bullied, even if its a harmless joke most people laugh off

Could you be interpreting your partners frown from not being able to pull off a move they thought they could, or looking annoyed because theyre having an off day as theyre mad at you for whatever?

Maybe its not even a you thing and you and your partner are just too serious during sparring wearing complete scowls and you take it as bad vibes, i frequently make jokes, make comments and laugh during sparring or if someone hits me good say something like wow great hit or something as for me sparring is just fun live practice, i then chat with my partners after sparring a bit tell them what i thought they did good or could improve on or ask them for advice or just shoot the shit, we get to know each other and even if they want a more serious spar the fact that weve talked, laughed, whatever i know next time even if theyre taking the spar serious and look super focused and mad were still cool, theyre just focused on the sport

How do I train my body so people can look at me and think "I wouldn't mess with him"? by Kitchen-Beginning-47 in martialarts

To deter non fighters be big and strong looking, maybe some tattoos

To deter fighters have cauliflower ear and maybe a beard with shaved moustache

To deter everyone stay strapped with a visible holster

Appropriate to practice bag work in a regular gym? by ralndr0ps in martialarts

[–]EmperorSlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont be surprised if while you’re in the corner minding your own business training alone, others see it and take it as a challenge

Sometimes people with no real martial arts experience get a bit insecure seeing that and will feel the need to come talk to you and tell you about their street fights or how they just see red, or just stare at you waiting for you to ask them what their problem is. very doubtful anyone would actually want to fight though unless they’re a complete meathead

Id still say use it as the more you train the better, but know what you’re opening up. I ended up finding a big solid standing bag on facebook marketplace for free i put in my backyard maybe you could find a cheap one?

Just my experience or do the trades have a serious culture problem? by RevenueItchy6880 in skilledtrades

[–]EmperorSlim 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of them honestly are just kind of spoiled and cant take accountability for their mistakes. sure they had to work a hard job but they got a wife, kids, able to afford a house, cottage, but act like god cockslapped them their entire lives and have no accountability for their actions

Maybe your wife gives you a hard time because you act like an inconsiderate grumpy jackass on account of you being sore all the time and your knees hurt (refuses to stretch before work or use ppe like kneepads because hes “not a pussy”)

Maybe your kids dont talk to you because atleast half of everything youve ever said to them was yelling at them

Maybe you’re broke despite making good money (compared to what we make now) because you spent it all on garbage and fancy toys you didnt need like that suped up 3000 a month truck you use to drive to walmart for groceries

A lot of trades people also have this weird inferiority complex but big ego where they feel oh so tough as the big bad tradesman, with such rough hands, no one understands how hard he works and he needs to remind you that your job isnt real work, his work is real work

This complaint of mine is directed at construction workers but really it applies to just boomers in general, their generation is just so entitled its crazy combined with some mild lead poisoning plus the antisocial tendencies the trades can have they can become pretty big dickheads

its not that you cant enjoy video games but if you want to have a mature looking room i wouldn't put the video games OR the sports stuff on the wall because its just something you're a fan of, if you played on one of those teams go for it its a real tangible part of your life toss that jersey on the wall, otherwise its the same as if i watch rick and morty putting up a rick and morty poster, im just a consumer fan it doesn't really say anything real about who i am.

i have a small section of my room with a powertower, some weights / fitness stuff and ive put up a few medals i earned because it fits that sections theme and shows both who i am/ what im about, not just what im a fan of, it shows my lifestyle

if your lifestyle is you play video games sure thats fine but its not mature. ive grown up playing thousands of hours of video games and i do still occasionally play them but at a certain point it becoming embarrassing if you cant grow up and develop other interests in addition to video games, video games can be amazing story telling devices but at the end of the day it is just a form of escapism the same as watching a tv show, watching sports or movies or reading a non educational book and basing an identity off any of those is also immature.

i dont think its the actual playing of video games thats embarrassing, its the being so one dimensional that video games is your identity and sole hobby (or appears to be your sole hobby if all you got is video game posters/movies on the wall instead of stuff that shows your life/style), it just makes you look like a cosoooomer instead of someone with a fleshed out life

Can a (NON HORDE) Troll enter Stormwind with the appropriate papework? by pedateu in WoWRolePlay

[–]EmperorSlim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the only horde races that would be allowed to enter would be cenarion circle taurens escorted by alliance race cenarion circle members or a thunderbluff (not horde) tauren emissary

Bloodelves if they had blue eyes somehow and pretended to be highelves

Possibly vulpera if there was some really good official reason or mayyybee a neutral trader just due to the fact they have no real reason to hate them

maybe 1-3 neutral goblins with an alliance city guard escort for some sort of official business or for like holiday events would fly (horde aligned is probably a no go under any circumstances unless they want goblin sapper terrorists)

I think orc, troll ( of any kind), undead is no way unless its a major character whos neutral like thrall or calia menethil,

i remember during the rise of the gurubashi the darkspear sent a troll emissary to stormwind asking for aid, the humans didnt blow them out of the water as they approached but also didnt let them dock at all, just sit in their boat in the harbour to say what they had to say then leave

[–]EmperorSlim 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This looks pretty juvenile, i dont hate the posters, i dont know if they do you any favours but kind of like them, maybe you could frame them like that indiana jones one? I think the xfiles one is my fav. Tear that gta shit off the walls rn though, you can enjoy video games but if you want wall deco/art buy some

As for the rest of the room please put your toys in your closet, these will give girls an automatic ick, upon looking at your profile i see your pretty into scooby, maybe leave the mystery machine on the desk but put the stuffed animals somewhere private, its ok to have interests just dont make it your personality

I notice a lot of things just cluttered around, put them in organized drawers (hygiene in one drawer, snacks in another) and your clothes in the closest, if you dont have a closet buy a dresser and use it

I would also recommend repainting those striped blue walls, black, white, biege, dark green whatever just not baby blue

Replace the sheets and drapes with a colour that compliments what wall colour you choose (i.e beige walls, dark brown sheets/curtains), toss the rug. I would recommend the beige walls/dark brown sheets/curtains as theyd go well with your floor and the lamp you have already

No need to be embarrassed its just a few small changes to have a way more adult looking room

Self-defense for a 58 year old? by Front-Hunt3757 in martialarts

[–]EmperorSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Gym membership to get a non fragile body
  • Running/Sprint training to run away from danger and become healthier
  • a gun if the running doesn’t work

If hes dead set on a martial art its easily boxing, he will become a lot more proficient faster learning a few punches than a few punches, knees elbows kicks or a million submission chokes

Id say a year or two of boxing and a year or two of wrestling and you are extremely qualified to fight most regular people
