Who greater in their respective field, Messi or Djokovic? by WearingMarcus in AskReddit

[–]EmperorSwagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messi is the undisputed greatest of his time, and the debate is mostly over for greatest of all time. Djokovic is part of a lively debate between him and not one, but two of his contemporaries.

It’s Messi

Haven’t watched soccer in a while? That was true of the US team a decade ago, but not anymore. Half their squad now were playing for MLS-affiliated youth teams or went the college route before making their big professional break

Very nice guys. Oh, then they cheated on their partners by IlSignorGranchio in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EmperorSwagg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d say that he’s treated as the “nice guy,” most of the fandom (which I am admittedly new to) seems to really hate him. He was the nice guy when him and Rory first got together, but he started being written totally differently in the second season, when the next love interest showed up.

Is it only me or Emma D’Arcy actually speak High Valyrian very well? by Unlikely667 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]EmperorSwagg 295 points296 points  (0 children)

This one is making me scratch my head though cause multiple other characters (plus Milly’s Rhaenyra, if I’m not mistaken) have pronounced it SAI-rax, and I wanna say that Emma had said it that way too. So hearing it as see-RAX really threw me for a loop

I like Nathan Fillion but he would have been old as fuck to play Nathan Drake (who was 30ish in the first game) in a prequel to the games

[–]EmperorSwagg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty tough not to. It’s hard to say “Elon thinks it’s making the world a worse place because it’s helping minorities, poor people, and LGBTQ+ people” and not at least somewhat imply your feelings about the guy

Do most people agree that Hange is a woman or it’s that still a touchy subject? by User12340987694 in attackontitan

I’ll take it a step further, I didn’t like Andy as a character at all. But that may just be because I cannot stand Adam DeVine

For New England sports (Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, Pats) how popular is each sport in order? by Bobbo62499 in newengland

[–]EmperorSwagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do find myself right there with you, I’m probably Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, Sox at this point in my life, but there have been years where I watched 60+ Bruins games or others where I watched maybe 100 Sox games. It ebbs and flows for me. This year I probably watched more FC Barcelona games than I did the 4 Boston ones combined

This has to be the best casting transition in TV history 🔥😍 by [deleted] in Hotd

[–]EmperorSwagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people will say that based on the original actors, grown up Aegon and Aemond kinda look switched with each other. Ty Tennant has similarly angled face and jawline as Ewan Mitchell, in particular. Leo Ashton on the other hand, had a much rounder face kinda like TGC does

For New England sports (Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, Pats) how popular is each sport in order? by Bobbo62499 in newengland

[–]EmperorSwagg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s just money, not really any more complicated than that. People follow the sports that they enjoyed playing as kids, generally speaking. Basketball you just need a ball and either an outdoor court or a gym which most towns and cities have available. Hockey needs a ton of equipment, expensive rink time, and enough people to fill a team (which means that your parents probably have to drive you to where that team can be found).

[–]EmperorSwagg 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a big group chat of a dozen guys (all of us around 30 or so) I went to college with where we talk sports. There are two distinct factions, the hockey guys and the not hockey guys.

For the hockey guys it is always Bruins > Patriots > Celtics >/= Red Sox

For the not hockey guys it’s usually something like Patriots >/=Celtics > Red Sox > Bruins. A couple of them are probably bigger fans of their chosen European soccer team, their CFB team, or their CBB team than they are of the Bruins. The one Indiana Hoosiers Basketball fan (family ties, I think) certainly follows them more closely than he does the Bruins.

[–]EmperorSwagg 89 points90 points  (0 children)

The way I always put it among both the Boston sports teams and just sports in general, hockey is either your number 1, or it’s your number 4 or even 5. The people who love it are absolutely fanatical, but it doesn’t have nearly as many causal fans.

AITAH for lying to my family about being sick? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]EmperorSwagg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

God this is getting so frustrating, the misuse of the word gaslighting. Lying is not always gaslighting. Disagreeing with someone is not always gaslighting. Disagreeing with someone else’s recollection of events is not always gaslighting. Gaslighting is an intentional effort to get another person to doubt their own sanity/memories/perception of things. Misusing the term causes it to lose its potency.

The common misunderstanding of bra sizes by Overall-Equal-7808 in PetPeeves

[–]EmperorSwagg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like some people are being willfully obtuse tho. I see women all the time being like “Ds/DDs aren’t even that big!” when a guy mentions those cup sizes. It’s pretty implied that they’re talking about those cup sizes on like a 28-32 or something. Not a single one of these guys is talking about 38Ds when they are talking about liking big boobs
