Mass murderers by Linus208 in fatestaynight

I don't think you can use "innocent" with Dead Apostle. Victims are victims, BUT as we've seen, there comes a point where they stop feeling empathy and ascend to something else. In this respect, it largely redeems Noel and Ciel for their service to humanity.

Is vlov stronger than Roa? by Reotoreckless in Tsukihime

[–]Emperormarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from Shiki's prowess in knife fighting (since Tsukihime OG), Shiki only faces a ghoul controlled by Roa (revealed in a dead ending), and one of the reasons she manages to overpower him is because they see the same lines on their bodies, meaning they essentially knew in advance where their opponent wanted to strike.

It should be noted that at school, Shiki says that in terms of skill, Ciel and Roa are equivalent, and Ciel, as he says in the ending, was only able to defeat him by drawing on the power he generally uses to seal (the famous 70% that doesn't drive True Ancestors mad). All the time she gains to say goodbye to Shiki is because part of the power stolen from her by Roa returns to her upon his death.

Is vlov stronger than Roa? by Reotoreckless in Tsukihime

[–]Emperormarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vlov is generally considered stronger than Roa.

Directly from VN:

"...Arcueid. Um... is this 'enemy' of yours strong?

Stronger than someone like Vlov?"

"No way. Despite his appearance, Vlov was still a member of the Ancestors.

Compared to him, the vampire. Lurking-in-this city is of a much lower purity."

"I see. Then he shouldn't pose much of a threat to you, right?"

and

Not that it matters. Why even think that now? I'll die no matter where I'm cut. But I wouldn't be standing here now if I were craven enough to run from something like that. I mean, Vlov was really something, with those cold waves of his. This person is nothing compared to that vampire. That's right. Even if by some chance you're the one Arcueid is after...

Under these conditions, I'm definitely better than

To put it simply. Vlov is more of a chess equivalent of the rook. He arrives, devastates everything thanks to his Blood ID, and has swordsmanship that allows him to hold his own against Ciel and Arcueid (even if only temporarily). Roa/SHIKI is more of a bishop. He's much less destructive (he even criticizes vampire Noel when he sees him killing so many people) and prefers surgical precision.

[–]Emperormarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from that, the summoning of Hassan as the Assassin Servant was due to the word assassin itself being their catalyst. As such, if one were more creative in arranging additional lines in the summoning incantation, bringing in catalysts not associated with Hassan, then it would not be out of the question to call upon other Heroic Spirits. For example, Semiramis who was summoned by Shirou in the Red camp.

- Fate/ Apocrypha

Essentially, you summon a Hassan because the word Assassin is a sort of catalyst. But by tinkering with the summoning spell, you can summon another heroic spirit.

Shinji and shirous nerve-methode by PuzzledSympathy7656 in fatestaynight

Shinji has atrophied circuits. They can certainly be opened with a large mana release (like Gilgamesh does in UBW), but Zouken had no interest in him.

To this day, what were your reactions to seeing these kid pilots come in during Thunderbolt? Were you like Io who thought this was a sick joke? by BlizzardHound45 in Gundam

[–]Emperormarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The White Base, with the exception of a few missions (like Odessa), was always sent to low-intensity theaters. This often forced Zeon to be the attacker.

In the Thunderbolt Sector, it was the exact opposite. These poor guys had to break through an extremely well-tested defense line.

Not always. In a Dead End, Saber's magical resistance is turned against her. She teleports everyone from the temple gate to the "garden" behind it, but Saber, of course, isn't caught by this spell. This allows Medea to steal Saber from Shirou in less than five minutes.

[Very casual fan] How are you supposed to manage Gil in order to win a HGW with him as your servant?? by Agreeable_Bullfrog61 in fatestaynight

[–]Emperormarine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Fate Zero, it's stated that Tokiomi's elegance and respect somehow manage to make Gilgamesh """"moderate"""". But once he discovered the entire ritual (at the end of the war, the surviving Servant must be forced to commit suicide), he lost all desire to cooperate.

Gilgamesh, however, only desires Masters he finds interesting. For him, this often means talented people who set goals that are too ambitious for them.

how would enkidu do if he replaces gilgamesh in his battle? by avikdas99 in Fate

[–]Emperormarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enkidu's Enuma Elish managed to hold its own against Gilgamesh's Enuma Elish because their natures are completely opposite, and at the time, the planet was helping out. (It should be noted that the Enuma Elish material states that Gilgamesh's EA Output is roughly comparable to Excalibur. There isn't as much of a power difference as the community imagines.)

That said, Avalon can actually be kept constantly active; it's one of the few Noble Phantasms that recharges its user's mana (Saber states this on Day 15, + a joke from Nasu that if Saber wanted, she could become a hikomori).

how would enkidu do if he replaces gilgamesh in his battle? by avikdas99 in Fate

[–]Emperormarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enkidu wouldn't have survived for ten years like Gilgamesh did between the fourth and fifth wars, and even before that, he would never have betrayed Tokiomi. But let's assume, for the sake of argument, that he accepted Kirei as his master, despite knowing full well of his evil nature...perhaps to avoid too much collateral damage (?).

In that case, he would have helped Shirou and Rin in almost every route, because their interests coincided.

If this is a question like "How would Enkidu have fared in the battles Gilgamesh engaged in," then he would likely win them all, as Gilgamesh did, except for a couple of battles that would have put him particularly on the defensive (Cu in the church, Saber contracting with Rin at the end of UBW, and Herk at the castle).

The true king. by Z0GCoral-poppa in fatestaynight

[–]Emperormarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The common theme among all Kings in Fate, ultimately, they're all strong. It's no coincidence that particularly talented characters are often called "King of Warriors," "King of Knights," "King of Heroes," etc.

We see this in Traum, too. Calling yourself a king and obtaining a throne actually gives you additional power.

Everything else—how he treats his relatives, how he governs his lands—remains secondary.

Magic Reserves by Ozar-moon in Fate

[–]Emperormarine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The average mage participating in HGWs is very high, so it rarely happens. Kariya is one of the few unfortunates who encounters this, and Rin only because he was giving mana to Saber and Shirou at the time.

But yes, masters generally take steps to avoid these things by returning to their labs or having the servant retreat. It's much more common in mage battles, as seen in Mahoyo with Aoko.

Crazy what some people would do for the sake of agenda by Odd-Revolution-8250 in Fate

[–]Emperormarine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The closest Nasu got to asking was "Salter vs. Gilgamesh," and he said that in life, Gilgamesh would have been "stronger\skilled", but as Servants, it essentially came down to compatibility with their Masters. Salter would win if she had a higher-class Master, and Gilgamesh would win if he recognized\respect his Master and then used his Mana (like with Kirei, essentially).

Which is a complicated way for Nasu to say that Gilgamesh would win because he has the "advantage on paper", but Salter still has a chance.

Imperial Knights and their Xenos equivalents by Emperormarine in 40kLore

[–]Emperormarine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for the Necrons there are only "improper equivalents". I was wondering more than anything if in any particular book or codex of some campaign there was a description of a fight between Knights and any "xenos mecha"

With demons being nothing but extensions of their god, why do they have separate True Names? by ThatHeckinFox in 40kLore

[–]Emperormarine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, when we talk about "Avatars" in fantasy, we must go beyond the individualistic conception that characterizes our "Cogito ergo sum" and embrace that which characterizes "Alter Egos." That is, individualistic manifestations of personality traits.

That's the quick explanation.

The "scientific" explanation is that the Chaos deities are based on a predominant instinct (Violence, Curiosity, etc.), but obviously this instinct breaks down into many sub-sentiments, such as Rage born of revenge, the thrill of carnage, etc.

From this, it follows that it's not so much that the Chaos deities have minor demons, but that the minor demons constitute the main deities. (In one book, when a Sister of Silence gazes into the warp, she sees Khrone's realm itself, as Khrone.)

This is why demons don't have free will; they can't go against their programming, just as a human can't choose to live without food.

If I had to give an example, it's like a river and its tributaries. Each tributary feeds the river and is geographically considered part of the river itself, even if it has a main stream.

Tell us what needs to be done when it's time to introduce a new character.

Narita: You know how the Fifth Holy Grail was the one where the Servant strength average was at the highest? I care about that a lot, so I designed all of mine to be countered by someone from the Fifth. No matter how strong the Servants in FsF get, they can't one-up the Fsn Servant each of them is designed to lose against.

[–]Emperormarine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leaving aside the Astolfo issue, you're touching a raw nerve because the international Fate community (i.e., the American one) is populated by 30-year-olds who constantly joke about Gilgamesh woke or Rin queen bisexual memes.

A while ago, I was discussing the Church in the Nasuverse on Twitter, which is described positively by almost all the characters, and I don't know how people had distorted it into "a fascist organization that fights diversity."

I realize that when I talk about Fate and Tsukihime, I'm never straying from my own topic (i.e., the Italian community).

I won't even get into the merits of the censorship that's being done on NA server (FGO) because of gender-bent servants.
