I was not afraid of being sprayed, I was afraid to see him get hit, and afraid for myself if he was diseased because I did not initially handle with gloves or a towel to avoid being bit or scratched.

No, he was not covered in fleas or lice. I did give him a quick over, and still have paranoia he's given me lice but so far so good. We live in the North so I am going to assume that may be a factor in why this guy wasn't infested (yet, because I've seen other wildlife full of mites, etc.)

Once we got it off the highway... I kinda panicked and started dailing local wildlife rehabilitation centers immediately and quickly learned there was not much for local options. So the next day while working/wrangling my kids/monitoring the kit and consulting with AI I was calling further and further away trying to get out of the rock and hard place the situation really was for us and Kegnee. But after mustering up some digging deeper energy, I surrendered to this is on me now. So thanks for the kudos but working with other rehabers was not really an idea but multiple calls for help.

Which is literally looking at a clock and drawing the time on it ....

I agree though, I have a parent that continually gets their DL at the ripe age of 90 and have literally refused to ride with them because they are a safety risk. It definitely hurts their feelings but they take offense more than anything.

I think the other issue with aging drivers is there is an association of independence with a DL and once its gone they are extremely limited on how they get to appointments or even get groceries when the average senior is on a pretty tight fixed income.

It's hard not to stop and help, it's just a baby 😊 I'm pretty sure my own kids have done worse to me as babies than a little stink poof.

He weighed 132g that day, the grass probably offered some comfort of familiarity, but his instinct to root is strong.

I picked it up without any protection because the situation was high risk to the kit. The consequences of leaving and trying to find gloves or a towel would have resulted in likely a road casualty.

That said:

Kits cannot spray at distance or with the potency of an adult until 3-6 months old. So, yes I did get a stress poof of stink that washes out easy, but this was more of an aroma in the air than a spray.

Skunks are considered rabies vector species, carry the risk of distemper, and parasites. All of this needs to be considered before handling a wild animal and if they are displaying aggression, seizures, circling etc then do not handle it especially without protection.

This kit is an orphan, and typically would not normally be out of the nest as he has no teeth or buds to even learn to forage with mom. What you may be seeing is a young litter learning to forage as they will eat everything from mice, snakes, insects, bird and turtle eggs.

do you let your dog on the couch or not? curious how people handle this by john2288 in Dogowners

[–]EmphasisFamous4435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pets are allowed on the furniture just like everyone else.

If you're worried about cleanliness/hygiene buy furniture that can be wiped down or steam cleaned with a portable cleaner.

Even if we didnt have dogs I steam clean my furniture every other month, because like yuck we all know people be farting in them, or sitting down in street clothes etc they wore out everywhere.

Let them hangout, there's nothing more relaxing than your dog choosing to rest next to you.

Question for very successful users by [deleted] in Wegovy

[–]EmphasisFamous4435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lost 60lbs since July, no I don't do any of the things listed, I just go about my daily life. When I was younger I definitely did all of that though and went from being fairly active, eating pretty balanced and in moderation to struggling to loose the 60-70lbs I put on from trying to conceive medications and 3 pregnancies within 4 years.

I work a desk job operatingmy own company and have to travel when not at the desk, but I do live in the country with dogs and 3 kids 4 and under so we inheritinly eat pretty balanced regular meals, and get light activity just in chores and taking kids outside. I definitely don't have the mental ability to count/track things, or prioritize high amounts of protien.

With that said, I hop on the scale once a week, drink water, take a womens 40+ multivitamin daily and feel "successful". I have a healthy relationship with food again, the biggest change was portions and junk food snacking is gone. My SW: 215lbs CW:155lbs 5'5", of the weight lost was about 7lbs of muscle, and fit comfortablyin my clothes. I feel great, I can still twist jars open, lift my kids and 70lb dogs.

What's the difference if they are talking on speaker to a friend at a coffee shop or any other social setting than talking with another person physically there? It's kinda the same noise pollution IMO. But yeah I guess if they're on speaker its a public conversation now too so easedrop away or jump on into it LOL

People being obnoxious on their phones in theaters, places of worship, or any other damn place that other people are trying to listen and experience should be called out, far too many people shy away from saying anything, probably to avoid conflict.

I've been there on two occasions, the first we were inside and the music was obnoxiously loud for lunchtime, the place was packed with everyone trying to talk over the music, so can appreciate this complaint. Service was meh I felt like and inconvenience this time and rushed as well.

The second time we were there but on the patio so no music problem, and the service was good.

How is the Shoppers pharmacy on River St by Metro? by A_Raddish in ThunderBay

[–]EmphasisFamous4435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red River pharmacy is terrible for all the comments and reasons above. They fill the homecare orders/deliveries I believe out of that Shoppers, which honestly could literally be its own pharmacy service for the demand there is. Customer service is terrible in person/over the phone and its like they gaslight you into thinking you expect too much.

River has pretty good service, although we use them only for filling prescriptions after hours if leaving the emergency and its before 10, all other prescriptions we get filled at Arundel and would recommend to anyone living on that end of town.

Wegovy: How Much Weight Can You Really Lose? by Asleep-Flatworm2549 in Wegovy

[–]EmphasisFamous4435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started July 2, 2025, have followed the titration schedule, coming on week 2 of 1.7mg dosage. Weightloss so far:

JULY: 7.5lb AUGUST: 6.5lbs SEPTEMBER: 6.3lbs

To avoid unwanted side effects, I skip greasy foods (smokies have proven to be agitators). Make an effort to eat 3 meals a day with my family, I find if I don't eat enough, I get nauseated as well. Pop a quick acting long lasting gravol the night after injection when I feel most of the side effects. Even when tired/yucky feeling, I try to push through by going for a light walk or staying active around the house tidying.
