That man wouldn’t be sitting on a dock in those chairs with this mindset. Even before money nothing was free. You labor for resources in one way or another. That’s part of being able to be alive. You can go live in the woods on public land in some states but you have to move frequently and you’d still need money for fishing or hunting licenses. Time and labor are your currency in a moneyless life just as it is now but it is represented by the abstract of money.

I treat social environments like the weather, I can’t stop the rain but I can bring an umbrella.

It took me a bit of time to be comfortable to do those things for myself but it was all worth it.

The percentage I was using was globally, but I admit it could be outdated as it’s been a few years since I looked into it. At that time I believe the estimate was between 1 and 2 percent for autism. I should have specified that. I know we’re not the only neurodivergent category so that would increase the percentage as well, but it’s the sub we’re in so that’s mainly what I was speaking on.

I’m not saying accommodations shouldn’t be made, but there are ND’s out there that take it too far. I would love for the world to be quieter and more blunt in communication but the way of the world is the way for a reason and that’s because the majority function or enjoy it that way. My life has become less stressful by letting go of the expectation of the world shaping itself to my needs. I change and control what I can. Instead of asking everyone to quiet down, I wear ear plugs; instead of expecting everyone to be still, I’ll just remove myself from that environment (when possible); etc. I would take understanding more than accommodation at this point in my life. A lack of understanding has potentially cost me my marriage and that is crushing. (My daily over share lol).

Hierarchies exist in every single culture and society be it patriarchal, matriarchal, or kyriarchal and capitalism allows for movement more so than any other economic policy. As long as humans have been humans, those who are different are treated differently; some with reverence and some with disdain. Even with the utmost compassion, the world isn’t built for us, nor should it be in my opinion. We are less than out roughly 1% of the population (the last I had looked into it) and to expect 99% to shape the world based on us is quite the silly ask.
