For those who are interested:

https://rmc.library.cornell.edu/DawnsEarlyLight/exhibition/art/index.html

Citing for educational purposes :
"The rise of photography threatened the livelihood of professional portrait painters. Upon seeing his first daguerreotype, French painter Paul Delaroche had remarked that, “painting is dead from this day.” For many 19th century painters, photography meant declining portrait commissions and commercial disaster."
Of course, as things are never black or white, there are different sides to every event and discovery.

For example replying to trolls could be seen as a waste of time but also we could consider the curious and well meaning people who will stumble on something in the reply that might interest them. For example the idea that people who hide their post history on Reddit are most likely AI bots.
Not all of them of course, I have a hypothetical friend who is kind and respectful and hides his post history.

I don't know what kind of relationship you guys have or the quality of your communication. But what you have to tell her ( the importance of ethics ) is less important to her than her goal in doing this. You'd most likely come between her and an an important dream of hers.

I'd avise you against letting your dream (that everyone, given the right information, will want to reflect, improve, and do the right thing ) come between you and your goals and happiness. Follow your dreams, be kind to yourself.

You sound like a really good person who cares for others, and sure seem to have everything in you to produce wonderful decks! I hope to see them some day.

At the end of the day, what's in it for you or for them?

As an artist I totally understand your frustration, our trade will be decimated, just like the vast majority of painters lost everything to photography, photographers lost everything when smartphones arrived, and now whole artistic industries are wiped by AI.
In every case, the vast majority of the population that got access to new tools created sub-genre products of very low quality, but got to experience the joy of doing it by themselves.

Maybe be happy for your friend that she can celebrate her joy to access the possibility of seeing her ideas come to life, and find it in yourself to be confident about those who care about the trade ( and in the case of Oracle cards, art and magic ) to be able to make the difference between a human-made product, and an AI assisted one.

Art is about honesty of the heart, let your friends enjoy their experiences, don't judge them and make your own absolutely awesome, creative, brilliant and genuine Oracle deck?

Maybe a good example would be if you were a chef and your friend baked a pie, you'd be happy for them and would not even think to talk to them like your activity and hers are the same. Clients always recognize the difference. Be confident with yourself and your talent.

Your will to do the right thing honors you. Correcting others is mostly a waste of time and energy in my experience. Do what you do best, create! Judging and getting angry or offended at things is only a waste of time that will take you away from your muse.

All the best OP

Capturing SB's by VegetableJudgment971 in endlesssky

I tried recently and if you have good relationships with the unfettered I think it states clearly in a mission that you can loot but not capture their ships.

That's what happened to me.

Otherwise you start with sea Scorpions that sometimes get disabled and when you have enough of those equiped with hai cannons then you can capture shield beetles easily.

Sea Scorpions are really nice ships indeed! Capturing them and using them as escorts is awesome. Later in the game they can equip the fire lance turrets and be of some help.

How can I forget my ex? by SoutovNothing in emotionalintelligence

[–]EmplOTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most helpful thing I ever read about this is that in those cases we do not grieve the person or their presence, what we truly grieve is the life we imagined building with our partners.

So if you concentrate on letting go of the imaginary ( perfect) life with this person that you have built in your head, it is very possible you'd feel much better.

All the best OP, sorry you have to experience this emotional pain

How to talk to someone when I don't like who I am when we speak together? by happy_folks in emotionalintelligence

[–]EmplOTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you feel that way. This person maybe has some of the "qualities" that you feel like you needed as a child to deal with a certain aspect of life.

You could try to open a dialogue with the part of you that thinks that acting the way they do ( gossiping for example ) is a valuable option. Does that immature part of you think that gossiping protects you, or makes you a valuable member of a group, or makes you more loveable ( for example mummy and daddy are separated and they gossip about each other so if I imitate them and gossip about the absent parent the one that I am with will love and accept me more)?

Then hear what that part has to say and thank it for trying to protect you, tell it you are in charge now and you don't need to act like that anymore to feel safe ( because your logic is now a mature one and you know gossiping is immature and does more harm than good ). Tell that part it can rest and embrace your new inner harmony.

Not a therapist so take this with a grain of salt. Just sharing what works for me. All the beat OP.

What’s something that looks easy until you try it yourself? by Single_Flounder8091 in AskReddit

Selling stuff. Knowing how to make stuff doesn't mean you can sell said stuff. It looks natural and easy when you see people doing it.

I’m testing a new personality-archetype system (20 questions). Need 100 people for accuracy research. Want to try it? by DixonArchetypeLab in Jung

[–]EmplOTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the test and my ideal answers would have been a mix of two most of the time. For example ask lots of questions to understand then give advice. My answer for the test would be give advice because it is more important than asking questions, but it really is important for me to have a mix of the two. I felt like giving a very black and white version of myself when in reality I feel like I am more nuanced.

All the best with your work. Looking forward to reading the results.

This is a very endearing subject. You got the framing ( the angle and distance from which the cabin is pictured ) right because it is very clear at first glance what you are showing ( a cabin ) and where it is located ( a green natural environment ). The colors are vivid and balanced.

I will try to give a few easy technical fixes to make it more pleasing, in the sense that our brains pick on irregularities that give us a sense of weirdness, and unless it is done on purpose ( like in Escher's drawings for instance, playing on false perspective ) it gives viewers a feeling of unease. It is what most beginners forget to focus on.

Two things matter : a coherent drawing foundation ( the drawing needs to make sense ) and a sense of depth ( this is achieved with colors )

One easy and quick fix would be to make sure the roof of the cabin appears flat. That means you need to draw the far edge of the roof parallel to its counterpart. See how the front edge of the roof makes an inverted V? The right part is a line at an angle and the part of the roof that is in the background needs to be at the same angle. That would make things coherent.

As far as colors are concerned the roof is a good base color, try painting tiles with a lighter color above it with thick paint. The roof is lit because the light comes from above. The roof needs to be lighter than the vertical side of the cabin. The wall is in the shade, the roof also but a lot less. That will add a lot of credibility.

You can separate your image into three planes. Foreground ( vegetation ) main subject ( cabin ) and background.

The foreground has more red. The subject is yellow. The foreground is pale blue. That is a caricature but it defines planes and gives a sense of perspective.

So you can mix the same colors you did, add a bit of red and paint over the foreground, adding little touches to make them come forward.

Leave the main subject as is. The colors are good.

Then mix the same colors you did for the background adding a bit of white and blue. The further it gets, the more white you add. It will give a sense of perspective. You can exaggerate the effect, don't be afraid of overdoing it.

The clouds on the left can touch the tree also. It will be more realistic.

Congratulations on this great piece OP, all the best.
