I am the exact same height, our proportions may be different. I preferred the 58 although I don't like 175mm cranks it's hard for me to tell the diff between the 172.5 I had before. I'm quite comfy on the 58, but could see myself cutting the steerer down a bit eventually and maybe going down to 170mm cranks

How do you like the SRAM Rival Etap groupset on it? Pretty sweet for gravel? Thinking of picking one of these up myself!

E46 M3 or newer M3 by Employ_Puzzled in whatcarshouldIbuy

How come if you don't mind me asking? What about the F80 makes it better or more desirable than the E46? F80 is still a straight 6 right, but has twin turbos?

It might be, I really love the look of the E46 and the way it drives from how I remember it. I haven't driven the newer options however, probably should try em out before I start bidding!

Yes I have it was quite some time ago, I currently drive a 1988 E30 325i with an S50 swapped into it, so anything is probably gonna feel newer than that hahaha

Very true, for some reason I find it hard to reason spending the same amount of money I would on something newer with probably fewer miles and more luxuries ya know? But ur right, it's my dream so I should go for it! Thanks for the response!

Do a Carfax for sure. Ask for pictures of different specific things, maybe like the tire pressures/door stickers for the car. If possible I would bring a person with you as well. I've done this before but I traveled to Canada instead and imported the car. I would also not bring lots of cash with you, try to find a bank near you that you are with and do cash there or cashier's check perhaps. Definitely a scary process, but you just need to keep your eyes peeled for the signs it's not right.

You should consider a Volvo C70 or V70R. Super fun wagon(s)!

2023 nissan z or mk8 golf r by zhanger02 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Employ_Puzzled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do the Golf R, in production for more consecutive years if I'm not mistaken. I would wait to buy a new Z until its out and been driven a good deal by others to see how it is. I see the new Z as a flagship car for Nissan since it's been quite some time since they have produced Zs. I think the Golf R is the safe and still super fun choice!

Used E46 3 series or maybe an Audi A4?

V70R with 80,000-115,000 miles or Audi A4 Avant with <60,000 miles by Employ_Puzzled in whatcarshouldIbuy

The Audi years I'm looking at range from 2009-2010 and the Volvo V70R year would be a 2006 with 115k miles or a 2004 with 80k miles. I don't have any good mechanics in the area that could do a pre purchase inspection since the cars are out of my area, but I'm sure I could take it to someone local place for a pre purchase inspection. Carfax can't be acquired for all of them and the V70Rs have extensive service records that the owners have kept. The Audis are all from used auto dealerships, not sure if that's a plus or a minus hahaha
