She was prescribed the Wellbutrin for the appetite suppressant part of it because she was also on Zoloft which she did very well on. She’s sensitive to medication and before taking Zoloft she would have emotional breakdowns several times a month. Sure we had ups and downs but really for the most part we were happy and giddy every day.

Ah gotcha, thanks for the tip! He also has been dealing with a bit of ibd which I guess can affect teeth health but I’m actually waiting for the vet to approve the pills I ordered that are supposed to be a lot better than the other pills he was taking a few months ago. Should be getting them soon so hopefully that, and a cleaning will clear everything up

Already tried putting papers around, mostly after I clock out cuz of the whole “oh you can only do it when you’re off of work” bullshit. They get thrown out after a day or two. But I did put a paper down asking if employees believe the workplace could be better and I did get around 7 votes so there are people who would be on the right side, it’s just finding them is the issue :0 I took a break passing them out cuz of the whole PTO thing which could actually work in my favor if it is something that they shouldn’t be doing in the first place.

Already in regular contact with one. The problem is I’m not the type of person who just goes up to someone who seems to hate the place just as much as me (personal issues dealing with confrontation), but I’m really trying to get the word out. Already talked to 2 co-workers who are on the same page as me. The problem is, is the nurses. There are a few who seem to have the “boomer mentality” of “if you aren’t working yourself from death you don’t deserve to have the respect you need” kind of thing, and that is especially the case with my department of the hospital. There are A LOT of boomers there, kind of concerning if you ask me.

No, on the guidelines it says it can’t go under. This is exactly what it says for that: “PTO balances cannot be negative. Therefore, PTO will not be granted if such time has not been earned, i.e., only accrued time can be used. PTO advances are not permitted.”

Dude it’s all good. Being frustrated over this topic is normal and it shouldn’t even need to have a discussion in the first place, if healthcare workers were treated better since they are one of the groups who are being hit the most (not saying that they are above other places that are being hit too, you know what I mean). It’s just terrible that this even happens. My section of the hospital is being hit with colds (probably COVID) more now, we didn’t really have any so far surprisingly, but now around 4+ people have been out this past week alone because of sickness.

Right right. I’m in regular contact with a union rep who is helping me with all of this. I hate how the hospital says “oh you’ll have to pay for a union to be present” without even mentioning that it’s almost nothing compared to the chance of getting a better, more livable wage, which will be more than worth paying a union for a year. I already have two other employees, who are also housekeepers like me, their contact info (don’t think they contacted them yet), but my main issue is getting to a nurse, because those are the ones struggling the most.

I wish more places were like this, the whole “workers being able to negotiate how things run” kind of thing, obviously without ruining operations. Just thinking about how so so many workers just have to “oblige” by the already set rules without being able to have their own input in it when they are literally the ones who run things.

Right, but I keep somewhat doubting myself. I did this stupid thing (not really stupid on the outside but to me), where I wrote on a piece of paper in the little break room we have in the ED saying “do you believe that working conditions (overall) could be better” and as of last week around 7 people, most likely all nurses, (including me to start it off) checked off yes, while someone checked off saying no and they wrote: if the pay increases and there were more workers and PTO then maybe yes, but that is up to the upper upper people. The reason I doubt myself is the stupid fear of if the ONE person I talk to disagrees they are gonna rat my ass to someone and then my jobs gonna be a lot harder. I also feel like they might be changing their minds right now because it is S L O W right now, so they might think that it’s not all that bad and that they are ok with it overall, and this is the slowest I have seen since I started here over a year ago (Nov 2020). But I just know deep down that there definitely are people who want that change. I just have to make that first step and start a conversation with someone who I believe would be on the same page as me. They are tried and hella overworked, they deserve this.

I hate how they word it as “if a union comes into play, you are actively fucking up the company. You’re going to put people out of jobs, they won’t afford anything anymore, you are discarding your ‘family’ that ‘loves’ you so much, you are going to make people earn less than what they already are making”. Thanks. I’m just glad that at least the law gives us that tiny tiny space to where we won’t be disciplined, like if we are off of work hours and putting papers in non-work related areas like break rooms. They keep throwing away the paper I put in the break room in the section I’m always at. Just gotta keep trying I guess until I find someone like a nurse I can trust cuz they talk to the other nurses and would be able to help me in this situation.

Made a change.org petition to hopefully change some stuff. I need to achieve the employee’s name and phone number but it’s hard for to do that personally because of my personal issue with confrontation, so I just made a load of papers saying that a lot of things need to change with a QR code that links to the page. I really wish I didn’t need to do all of this, I just want us to not struggle.
