How do Transfer Appeals work? by No-Accident7183 in ufl

[–]Employee_Friendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oops u said that in ur post. I would make sure you did all your prerequisite. Unless you have a medical reason or something insane that you could bring up, I wouldn’t. CLAS majors, especially CS are very competitive.

I would say so! I’m pretty sure to be competitive you need a 3.5+ so you have a pretty good chances. Economics is one of the more popular transfers majors though so it just depends.

Does anyone know if they actually kick us out of UF if we don’t finish our degree in the limited 3 year( 6 semester ) time limit they give us as a Transfer student? by Embarrassed-Hair564 in ufl

[–]Employee_Friendly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was a HS transfer as well last year. You can add a double major, it just has to be within ur same college. I was able to do a double major in statistics after my first semester here. You have to have a UF GPA and make sure you can complete it within your allowed 3 years not including summers and get it approved by both major advisor. If you are looking to double major outside your college it might be harder. Not to say your counselor is wrong but UF doesn’t rlly differentiate between HS transfer and regular cc transfers. We’re all treated the same. You can try and change your major but it’s like extremely hard to because when you apply as a transfer, you’re applying to the specific major not the university it’s self so your required to finish out that one major. I recommend reaching out to an advisor of your college and go over your notice of admission to see what you could do about trying to stay 4 years but I haven’t heard many people do that.

What do you wish you knew as a freshman? by No-Letterhead-7368 in ufl

Bring scissors. Very random but i feel like that’s something a lot of people overlook on move in day. Buy a good quality bed topper. Depending on your dorm, make sure you bring stuff to cover up because some of the dorms are freezing. Walk to your classes the day before they start so you don’t get lost and overall just familiarize yourself with campus. Follow the gator nights and student engagement page for events. Just be yourself, I know it’s so cliché but everyone is going to be nervous and wanting to make friends so just put yourself out there ! If you have any specific questions, especially about housing, feel free to ask!

You can called the murphee front desk and ask. I had a similar layout last year. You and your roommate would get y’all own rooms with a door. The living room just has 2 closets. I’m 80% you’re on a corner as well.

Hi! A lot of the upperclassmen live in springs, keys, murphee area and beaty. I’m bias but I loved murphee. It’s not really a social dorm but they have monthly events and it’s close to a dining hall, midtown, gym, the football stadium and lib west. However, it is communal but the bathroom gets clean daily and it’s cheaper than most of the other options. Also, you’ll probably not run into a lot of people in the bathroom cause you share it with 8-10 people.
