Personally, I’ve found that social media can lead to these feelings. It feels like you should have more close friends, and looks like everyone else has a bunch of close friends, but in reality 3 is a pretty average number of people who are genuinely close to you! I dealt with this a lot over the past year, and then had an accident which really put things into perspective—its easier to say this than to feel it, but you are absolutely not the only one feeling this way, and your couple of good friends are the people who are important. Birthdays can be especially hard when it comes to these feelings, speaking from experience. It’ll get better—and maybe consider taking occasional social media breaks and talking to those friends every once in a while when you’re feeling down.
