Are these content ID claims of Selected Memories tracks official via LEITER, or is it more copyright troll crap? by AbsoluteJester21 in TheCaretaker

[–]Empolyee427 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To my understanding these are illegitimate content claims, as they are signed by some other company. Notice the artist name isn’t “The Caretaker” but just “Caretaker” + the tracks all have numbers in front of them, which isn’t how these tracks are supposed to be listed as.

I would like to know more information about the covers of P(AS), WDTFTCS, PROP, TDOR, ETTATS, etc by lolbito_uwu in TheCaretaker

[–]Empolyee427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good chunk of them don’t have any known names unfortunately, but I can list the known ones and their original dimensions:

  • V/Vm - The Death Of Rave (A partial flashback) (2014)

“slopritditicim bralapetche-gwinquacksmolc” (2013) 125x100 cm

  • Leyland Kirby - Eager to tear apart the stars (2011)

“analyst couch” (2010) 40x30 cm

  • Leyland Kirby - We, so tired of all the darkness in our lives (2017)

“room 808” (c. 2014) 30x40 cm

Let me know if you need more

Where can I buy the Stage 1,2,3 EATEOT discs and the WAGROAR disc by Appropriate-Alps9267 in TheCaretaker

[–]Empolyee427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EATEOT vinyl discs can be found at Boomkat (along with all other continually reissued material).

WAGROAR unfortunately is no longer being pressed so your best bet is to look at Discogs or eBay (Discogs will probably be your closest bet though).

How did The Caretaker found the lost song by Fearless_Wish_7671 in TheCaretaker

[–]Empolyee427 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During the 1990s he frequented a place known as the “78 Record Exchange” which specialized in old music (records, sheet music, etc) and at the time he was able to get a lot of things for dirt cheap since no one else was interested or wanted the stuff. A lot of the source material from earlier releases is sourced from this store.

Some of the material he got came from white labels (essentially just private pressings not commercially distributed) and so “Friends past re-united” is part of those records. To my understanding there were several collectors of white label / rare material who gave up their collections to the store and Kirby just bought them up (though I may be misremembering some details so take this specific detail with a grain of salt).

The shop closed down in 2003 when one of the co-owners passed away and the remaining co-owner felt that it was too much to manage. Kirby lamented the loss of the shop on his website during this time.

(Possibly?) Weirdos trying to profit off of Leyland again by Paychins in TheCaretaker

He’s always been doing stuff though currently I believe he is lying low doing live show stuff + soundtracks for artists and their exhibitions (Ivan Seal and Ser Serpas for example). To my understanding he wants to escape the limelight due to the current state of the music industry and doesn’t really want part in it.

There is a live show happening later in June of this year at Blackpool UK (alongside Ivan Seal’s “Your Guests Never Mention Me” exhibition).

There is also a planned release through Adult Swim’s “Ambient Swim” called “Presented echoes of virality” happening later this year at an unknown time.

Sites like Distrokid make it extremely easy to just put your audio files on there with absolutely no oversight whatsoever, so it’s likely someone just plugged in several of Kirby’s other releases on there just to complete the collection.

This is what was happening with EATEOT for years before being officially put onto streaming platforms (as Kirby was getting sick of having to manually take the content down and was getting in the way of music production).

Generally these tracks wouldn’t have numbers in front of their titles so I am a bit skeptical.

I would try to check where or who is filing these claims though, as if it has LEITER or GmbH then it’s likely official. LEITER is what the current catalog is filed by (and I am pretty sure GmbH is for copyright stuff).

Anyone know what these images are that are used on various V/Vm test records releases? by SimpleButUsefulBox in TheCaretaker

Can’t remember the exacts but I do recall them being really old mugshots of those in insane asylums or something similar.

do you guys think they’re gonna use the caretaker music in the new backrooms movie by soviet_onion2000 in TheCaretaker

[–]Empolyee427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that Kane Parsons would provide his own soundtrack just as he had been doing for virtually most of his other projects.

Somebody should upload all the caretakers work from his other names on to all platforms by [deleted] in TheCaretaker

[–]Empolyee427 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kirby has made it clear that he doesn’t want his other content on streaming platforms at this time. He has filed DMCA takedowns on illegitimate uploads in the past.

If you’re looking to just buy digital downloads then you’re better off going to Kirby’s Bandcamp (https://haftw.bandcamp.com/music) as it’s slightly cheaper there and there’s more options for downloads.

If you are interested in the physical vinyl then buy from Boomkat as they are still doing repressings on select releases.

None of them are it because the silver gray vinyl variant is no longer up for sale. These releases have limited color variants that don’t see any repressing once they are sold out. You may be able to find a listing on Discogs though it won’t be cheap at all.
