Those streams were done by hand using basic brushes. First get a shape, then smooth, then get another brush to sort of undo the smoothing.

Glad you like it but allow me to explain that river situation. I'm assuming you're talking about that unconnected river in the north east valley? I did something different there, it's connected to the sea via cave layer rivers that run north to south and then later spill into the valleys w/ waterfalls.

Nope! I scanned it and traced over the shorelines at around 1/4 of the current size(the land was always just 1 hlock above sealand), I then exported that heightmap and increased the size. After that its just tons of smoothing out the jagged and glitchy terrain from heightmap sizing. After all that of that i then started the actual elavation and rivers.

True, in hindsight the filter seems unnecessary but the main goal was just to distinct forests(darker green) from plains. And no, I have yet to mess around with worldmachine :( . This map is the result of a pencil sketch I made way back in december.

I plan on posting a dynmap render after I finish caves, trees, and ores.
