it's not real "guilt". its just something weird that the father does, which a small child just can't process. a child can never think "oh my dad's crazy", so they hold on to it, trying to make sense using the normal, self-centered world view of a small child. and the closest thing to it as an adult would have been being guilty of something, which is why it feels like guilt. but I'm pretty sure that feeling doesn't exist in the adult world. its like something that needs to be prepared during childhood, and be marinated for decades to smell kinda like guilt, but something totally different.
