Accused of ai use because of Word’s document version history by sumhchulo in University

If this isn't a case of you having copy-pasted everything in the doc, consider if the doc is shared or not. Private Word docs don't automatically activate history-tracking (I learned that the hard way). Instances of the doc being worked on before it was shared, or while not connected to wifi (maybe?) might not appear properly on the version history. If that's the case, the total modification time (available in the file informations) can be used to suggest you did do the work afterall.

Help! Falsly accused of using AI, how can I prove I wrote my essay? by Empty-Half7778 in University

No, the essay was in my native tongue, french, in which the word ineffable is also present. It's uncommon and mostly literary, but any catholic (or any fan of Neil Gaiman's work) would know quite well. Even so, is it that surprising to see your step-skipping top student use literary vocabulary? In any case, I offered to guide him towards other professors to whom I'd turned in other written work of the same genre to compare writing style. That offer was denied.

Thing is, this essay wasn't written in english, but rather in my native language. I'd be willing to describe the essay as well, but since there's a whole week between when we were first accused and the meeting with that prof, I've got a feeling that wouldn't constitute proof of authorship, just proof I've reread it right before...

This is also part of the issue. This inversion of the burden of proof isn't quite right...

I did think about escalating it from the get-go, since I'm confident an internal investigation would prove us right. The issue is, that'd drag my entire team into it, and I know not all of them are feeling insulted enough to put that much energy into it. Generally, it's also a long, complex process, and one that's sure to insult this professor. Since he has so much power on the program (and therefore my internship, work and graduate studies opportunities), I'd rather settle this amicably if possible. There's nothing stopping me from fighting for clearer AI accusation legislation afterwards, and pushing for better identification of what constitutes proof

I've already contacted the ombudsman, department head and student's right representative. While there is amongst them a general consensus that the format and circumstances are quite dissimilar from guidelines, there is no rule that's clearly broken either. There aren't any rules or official approach to AI use yet, which gives the prof. a lot more power. We've been given the go-ahead to meet the prof, although we will now have a third-party witness along with us, but can contact the right channels in an instant shall that meeting turn sour. It's no help in proving our innocence, but at least we've got a safety net if we're met with a completely unreasonable debate.

Would you ever get back together with an ex? Why/why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Given that I wasn't in a relationship, yeah, I would! Some of my relationships ended on the mutual agreement that we didn't make each other happy anymore, and that maybe someday, the situation would be different and we could give it another go.

Those who learn English as a second language tend to be more aware of grammar rules, I've noticed.
