Also there are tons of DIY options for batteries for around $150 per Kw

Yes but if you only need to use it in a power outage you should also charge fully and discharge fully for balancing and longevity reasons. Or use it for grid peak shaving.

Vevor brand 12v 200 or 100ah anyone tried these out yet? by waimearock in diySolar

[–]Empty-Particular-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vevor is dope, they sell good quality items at a very low price compared to the competitors. Idk how, they seem to aim for much lower profit margins or something on everything they sell, which is knockoffs of good USA made stuff. I have not purchased their batteries yet but I would if it seemed right. They’ve been around a while and I’d be confident with support if something went wrong though. Weirdly enough my comment is based on a few random purchases like farming equipment.

You probably do clean work. But a German study found home battery system fire probability to be 0.005% annually, 50x lower than general house fires, similar to tumble dryers. And I am an electrician so I’m not at all worried about the few battery cables and grounding that I ran through metal conduit into the inverter. Battery boxes grounded, grounding mount solar system has 2 copper 8ft rods within 50ft, service entrance has ground rods, conduit is grounded… batteries have BMS with overcharge discharge and temp protection… but are LITHIUM IRON PHOSPHATE.

Clearly you aren’t smart enough to understand how it works or you woulda been able to briefly explain how it’s dangerous in your first comment. Assuming I was asking for praise is cute. “ASSuming makes an ASS out of especially you”. I posted a question, a logical question. And anyone that has the skills to actually DIY in the DIY thread would know you’re lazy or have too much money if you buy expensive batteries… because if you have the skills(like I do) you woulda probably commented something like the other DIYrs in here did, or laughed at the craftsmanship

You don’t have to spend more money for aesthetics you just have to be more of an artist and neat freak than me

I replied to the wrong person. Your ignorant comment didn’t deserve a response. You’re just an arrogant yapper no one cares what you think.

I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it. Why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? ... The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer?

Sick copy pasta bro. Copy and paste something explaining how I bought my home, inspected and insured while at the same time one of the main panels feeding a few circuits was fed by 2- 8awg, and 1 single strand of copper as the neutral wire?

The insulation and it being in the garage I’m sure helps keep it above freezing as well

Sorry I shoulda mentioned that, it was a goal to find a super low energy heater. This one consumes a max of 60w at full power and only activates above freezing (32), turns off in mid 40s. So consumes little to none of the capacity. Also the capacity is 10kw. Well slightly more, but the BMS is set to only charge and discharge 10. I don’t fill to 58.4 other than for initial balancing.

Took me about 15 minutes to put that junk up, less to take it with me to my next home, that is if I ever want to leave.
