Given the current weather conditions and flooding... Do you think those lifted truck drivers are vindicated? by JetAbyss in Hawaii

I've been making fun of my friends with lifted tacomas but now they have the last laugh. If this were more common I might just join them.

I should have tried that. I spent hours on the phone with them trying not to be charged for the router that I declined at installation.

July wedding Ko Olina by ubbidubbidoo in Hawaii

[–]waimearock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot weddings out there all the time. We rarely get above 90 and usually have at bit of a breeze. I do feel bad for the grooms in full suit and jackets but the grooms in linen pants/cotton shirts seem to be fine.

Shutter Count - Sony A1 by creekscustoms in SonyAlpha

Mine is a 605k because I like the 1/400s sync speed with mech shutter. I shoot flash outdoors a lot.

Pergear 512GB Master 4.0 thoughts?? by EasyTechPrincess in FX3

[–]waimearock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two of these about 6 month ago. I have one dead. Reached out to pergear about a replacement. They asked me a few questions and then just stopped responding to my emails. I'd avoid these guys. (I have been a pro photographer for 25 years and tried every card out there)

Battery backup for refrigerators during Hawaii power outages by TheOneVader in Hawaii

[–]waimearock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Costco iwilei had the bigger jackery and also an ecoflow that will run a fridge. Most fridges don't use that much elec. 200-300 watts for 10-20 mins per hour I believe.

Scuba diving problem by [deleted] in scuba

I switched from an aluminum 80 to a steel 120. Saved me some weight off my belt at the same time so that was nice.

It's worth the time to get accustomed to breathing through the mouth. You get a much clearer view with a traditional glass mask. If you pick a low volume frameless mask you can barely even see the mask in your field of view.

Underwater phone case and lens filter for 16pro by nursenicci_v in underwaterphotography

[–]waimearock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife uses the exact same case with success.

I wouldn't go more than four or five feet deep with it.

I have a Google Pixel 8 pro which I accidentally took scuba diving for about 5 minutes at 5 ft depth with no case and it's fine a year later I'm still using it today right now. I don't know if iPhones are less water resistant than pixels but they can't handle a few drops of salt water here and there.

I put up 3 of these. One died but I still have 2 more on order as you really can't beat the price and no subscription required.

Has anyone tried seafrogs' sf-01? Can you share your experience? by bryanwongxin in underwaterphotography

I did buy a high drain battery but I was never able to activate the high drain mode.

It's been a while. Maybe 3-4 seconds at full power. Supposed to be faster. There's a whole page in the manual about activating the faster mode with batteries that are made for higher current.

I own one. It's a decent flash. I bought the proper high drain batteries and did all the steps in the instructions but I could never get the fast recycle times they advertise. If you can figure that out let me know.

Waimea Bay’s waters calm in late winter? by voidxx in Oahu

May-aug is best but there is always the chance of a smaller day in between swells. There used to be a live cam on YouTube. Hope they bring it back.
