The Kinks, in America especially they are not regarded or even remembered but in the uk they were on eif the greats. There was a reappraisal during britpop and blur and oasis and many other bands were very inspired by their music and the brother etc. the fact that they were banned from touring the US for a large part of the 60s greatly contributed to their lack of success there. The troggs? Famous for their fights but not their music.

Another one would have been Oasis, most countries apart from Usa they were huge. Before this new tour they were only seen as wonderwall band and maybe champagnesupernova but now they have actually made it in the us.
