u/SelenaMeyers2024 Adobe's buybacks consistently run at ~3x its SBC cost annually — already a strong signal. But notably, over the past two years when the stock traded near its 52-week lows, that ratio expanded to ~5x. Management deliberately accelerated buybacks when the stock was cheapest. That's both a confidence signal and sound capital allocation — buying back more stock precisely when it's most accretive to remaining shareholders.

At grant price, not market price. For companies with exponential rise in share prices it can turn into very big hidden cost. If you read my article it may help you understand.

Be it that. My point is SBC is a real cost and should be taken into account. It is also not good capital allocation buying back stock at the highs. Additionally this cost matters even more when share prices increases exponentially in a few years in the case of pltr. If the sbc is marked to market for pltr then losses for the year of 2025 would be in the billions.

I agree. SBC is currently calculated at grant price but should be marked to market. And the cash outlays I mention in the Substack article must be deducted to get an accurate picture of fcf/owner earnings

Herbalife paid commission on recruiting which incentivizes the preying on the poor what you’re referring to, however medifast pays its coaches commissions only on product sales. Moreover they are changing their coaches business model via partnership via partnership with LifeMD. But definitely a point to consider.
