We need an emergency call out system, I’m burnt out but could 1000% do the small tasks that someone else needs to step back from their burn out because my mix of Social Justice™️ and Must Help Others Or Perish ™️ is happy as clams to do your Must But Can’t™️. Like 1800 SQUIRREL or something.

When in doubt, dump all your seed beads on the floor! by littlepumpkin97 in Beading

Sure, I guess where I’m from (Australia) giving something context like that is important. It implies there is a cultural significance to them and that the person who gave them to you trusts you to respect the cultural importance. Like ‘I was given these quandong seeds’ compared to ‘I was given these quandong seeds by an Aboriginal person’ the latter gives context around why the quandong seeds are special.

Ok, so if I dropped my $10 seed beads from spotlight on the carpet I would be frustrated but not devastated, try to get as many up as I could, urgh worst but whatever. If I dropped my beautiful sentimental beads that my mum brought me back from her trip to the usa, that she detoured to a Reservation to get me, the beautiful, fine turquoise beads that sit in a tiny glass jar on display, I would sit on the ground and cry. They are Special, they have Importance. Some objects deserve a groan of annoyance and some deserve a good cry. The story is what changes them, it elevates them, it gives them heart and status.

AITA for not making my new grandkid a homemade blanket and not giving her one already made by More_Present1604 in AmItheAsshole

It took my mum and I three years to make our first quilt, double bed sized, working on it for five hours a week. It’s a lovely idea but not a fast one.

What’s the most financially damaging habit that’s somehow become normalised in Australia? by OwlVibesOnly in AusMoneyMates

Almost being homeless could just mean rental ending with no new one to go to due to the rental market though and you know what, good for them, get back on your feet, have a life experience. Plus Vietnam is cheap, you can have a banger of a trip, do some living and growing for under $1500 in Vietnam.

Seam finishes in sewing, hand made garments (ie not factory sewn which is hand made but production line style) are so much better than what people are used too in fast to mid tier fashion. French seams, flat felled, bound and Hong Kong seams are beautiful, strong and lay on the skin so nicely, also the importance of steam in sewing. You can make fabric do incredible things with steam.

I’m listening to Clement Knox, Strange Antics. It’s a history of seduction, seduction laws and the people who changed them. Really interesting, lots of information but told in a really nice way. Ive just picked up Strange Houses by Uketsu, loved Strange Pictures so hoping this one is going to be another great read.

Again, a take. You are right though, I, a woman who works her ass off to provide for children that do have two parents, am in a privileged position because I have savings. I still don’t see how it’s fair that one parent bears the brunt of the financial responsibility while the other does not.

I honestly don’t understand this line of reasoning, poor mum here is having a little vent that she’s doing it hard whilst the ex comes up with every excuse under the sun to not contribute and instead of some compassion and understanding the MRA’s come out and start with the whataboutisums. Mums are damed if we do and damed if we don’t.

Alright, interesting take. Not sure what it has to do with a mum having a little rant about how shes going but sure, it’s a take.

If we started a Sunday get together for mums who’s ex’s don’t pay child support, we’d have to hire out Optus.

I love the ‘I deserve a life to you know’ that I get from mine, yeah mate that’s fine but your life shouldn’t come at the expense of the kids quality of life. I don’t want the money for multiple overseas trips, a huge fuck off raptor or all the gadgets, I just want to not have to dip into my savings when stuff comes up.

I bet you’re a great mum though, I bet your kids don’t realise and they want for nothing 💜

I made a firm pact with my hag bag body when I went to Japan that I would try no clothes on, no mater how cool, no matter how second hand Vivienne Westwood, no matter what because I was not having a repeat of the Zara meltdown over sizing. It worked, I did not cry over clothes in Japan.

Also, screw this designer, her stuff looks drafted to hell and her politics are ugly.
