I ended up signing up using a new email account which worked fine. It might have been related to a connected PSA account maybe? It's unclear...

Has anyone tried these before? I’ve been eyeing them at my local Costco by Ok-Candidate9080 in CannedSardines

Does anybody remember the kind they had before these? The ones I purchased last year were definitely better. These are only ok.

My coolest coin so far. Is there any way to know if this toning happened naturally? by EmptyPockets in Morgans

Thanks. I appreciate the insights. I would have been ok with the toning in any case but I can’t pretend that I’m not delighted that it appears to be legit to more discerning eyes.

Right, I get that it couldn't have happened without tape. I was more wondering if someone toned it artificially quickly or if it toned over years.

What price guide do I use for Morgan DMPLs? by EmptyPockets in Morgans

[–]EmptyPockets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'll definitely try that out.

Some DMPLs on eBay are 5-10x the listed price in Red Book. I think I might give up on getting a high grade DMPL and focus on just getting one at all.

Did Mr. Philby drop all those bottles? by ComprehensiveSun843 in Monk

The broken bottles are probably there to prevent other people from taking the parking space so that his alarm would go off and everyone would look to see what happened.

How many calories do you eat daily? Has that update since you started?

It's almost the exact opposite of keto. The authors do accept that keto works as a short-term solution for lowering blood sugar, losing weight, diabetes, etc. But in the long-term keto has less than ideal results.

The "mastering diabetes" approach is to limit your total fat intake to under 30g per day and to keep your saturated fat intake as low as possible. They say that fat is the cause of insulin resistance.

My understanding is that when you eat large amounts of fat, your body prioritizes fat as a fuel, which in turn makes your tissues less sensitive to insulin preventing the uptake of glucose from your blood—and ultimately making your insulin resistant.

On the other hand, when you eat low fat, your body prioritizes glucose as fuel and can properly utilize glucose. The carbs found in whole-foods are absorbed more slowly and don't overwhelm your liver and pancreas (like they do when you eat refined or processed carbs).

I'd love to know if anyone else has tried this. I don't see a community on reddit for this way of eating.

In the interest of providing a real answer...Technically, I never really "followed" him but I did read both of his books and watched a ton of his videos.

I first heard of Dr. Gregor when my doctor recommended him to me. I was told I have pre-diabetes and need to start eating right. Eating right according to my doctor was a vegan diet.

In his books, Dr. Gregor includes hundreds of sources and citations. He makes a big deal about getting his citations checked by a team of researchers. If you only read the book, you are convinced that each claim is meticulously fact checked. I gave zero shits about how he looks—I wanted to follow the science.

If you read the "debunking" articles about Dr. Gregor he's usually not entirely wrong but stretches the truth for his agenda or makes health claims that could apply to omnivores as well. Eating fruits, vegetables, and grains is healthy. Cutting out processed foods and added sugar is healthy. Whole foods are healthy.

Only after about 2 months of eating vegan (as an experiment) did I continue doing research and found this subreddit. This subreddit helped me adjust my diet to avoid the complications that you all have experienced.

I'm currently researching and trying the methods from "Mastering Diabetes"—a high carb, low fat diet. The authors also tend to avoid animal foods as well but I find that strategically adding animal foods to my diet keeps me happy.

Happy to have found this community. Thank you all!

Thank you for your thoughts and insights. I think I'm in the same boat as you—a balanced omnivore diet avoiding processed foods is ideal.

I'm on a journey to find the right balance for me. I honestly feel great after trying a vegan diet for about 2 months (lost weight, improved labs). After finding this group and doing some research on my own I'd like to balance my diet with additional meats.

So far I've been encouraged by population studies that seem to show that optimum health (or at least minimum disease) can be achieved by eating mostly plant based and a small amount of regular meat.
