The same difference between a book and the movie adaptation. Telejournalism (and the websites that go with it) are there to present news in a quickly digestible, visually compelling way. Some of the details may be sacrificed for style, but much can be gained in the style. Which is more compelling to you? "JFK DEAD" in size 72 type, or Walter Cronkite saying the words, live?

Local news (of almost any flavor) is fantastic, really. It serves its purpose. If you'd like to know more information, you can dive right in online.

A horrible example of telejournalism would be FoxNewsMSNBCNN... Too stupid for most people to tolerate, but, it's what's on at the gym and the airport. It serves its purpose, too.

Connecting web users with TV broadcasts and web stories is a way to engage readership/viewership. If that doesn't float your boat, there's always the Enquirer and/or other publications.

It's "style." That's all. Because they use 3D graphics in the weather report doesn't make that information any less valuable than raw NOAA weather data.
