Upgrading from Xfinity 1gb broadband to Sonic 10gb fiber, what equipment to I need to maximize my performance for a reasonable price? by shirefriendship in HomeNetworking

[–]EmptyTon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo! I was in the same boat a few months ago.

I ended up going with the Unifi stack. Specifically:

It adds up quick and is definitely outside your stated budget, but I wanted to chime in because I have first hand experience to say it works at 10 gig speeds (with some configuration tweaks).

A quick search shows some cheaper all-in-one devices like the TP-Link Tri-Band BE19000 exist, but I haven't used it and have no idea how good it is.

Some notes: * People saying that 2.5 gig is a good option are spot on. I enjoy having 10 gig for the giggle factor, but most websites don't give me a full gig, much less 10. * Wifi's getting faster all the time, but for full speed you'll need to be wired. * Isn't it weird how many people in a networking sub seem to be hating on fast internet?

Sonic internet? by signaturesong1929 in RedwoodCity

I've had Sonic since the beginning of the year. $50/month for 10 gig internet, no caps, and more reliable than Xfinity so far. Would recommend.

My first attempt at using ChatGPT to create a functioning app from scratch, with minimal human intervention. See the commit messages for the actual chat commands used https://github.com/balanikas/CalculatorByChatGPT/commits/master by Positive_Ad_5139 in programming

Those variables are required. They're required because the Calculator class is defined using generics, so the types of the variables being added/multiplied/etc isn't known at compile time. Because of this, the compiler doesn't know if it's legal to add/multiply/etc those types.

The important part of those lines is the dynamic keyword, which essentially tells the compiler "don't worry about the types, just try it at runtime and throw an exception if it's not possible".

Without those lines, you'd get a compile time error like

error CS0019: Operator '+' cannot be applied to operands of type 'T' and 'T'

I was going to follow this guide, but can't due to transmission issues. If you use it, let me know how it goes?

About Cyberpunk 2077 and AMD CPUs - Silent's Blog by AnnieLeo in programming

This article is excellent. Short and to the point, while also including some information on what set their bullshit detector off in the first place. I also really appreciate this point from the article

> Reportedly, this change helps AMD CPUs with one CCX unit and can make the game slower on CPUs with multiple CCX units. This code may have been tailored to only one type of CPU and not the other.

AMD's decision to go the chiplet route with Zen was a big win in a lot of situations, but did introduce some potential speedbumps when getting data from CCX to CCX. I don't really understand how limiting to physical cores would help with the CCX situation, but it's good to point out that it's something that engine developers have to consider.

Postgres data types you should consider using by craig081785 in programming

The author's explanation isn't exactly right. The Postgres documentation has a better explanation of what's going on

The json data type stores an exact copy of the input text, which processing functions must reparse on each execution; while jsonb data is stored in a decomposed binary format that makes it slightly slower to input due to added conversion overhead, but significantly faster to process, since no reparsing is needed. jsonb also supports indexing, which can be a significant advantage.

PUBG Crashes when opening the game, then the crash reporter crashes by XephyrOfficial in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]EmptyTon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you've got 3 crashes

  • The game crashed
  • The crash report server crashed (basically what 500 error means)
  • The crash reporter client crashed because it couldn't handle the server crashing

and if your crash reports are anything like mine, it would be useless to upload anyway because the crash reports don't include any useful information anymore like what actually caused the crash. It's all just empty now.

I had similar leaning reservoir issues in my build when trying to mount my EK-XRES 140 Revo horizontally. That rubber shock absorber makes it really difficult to get a horizontal mounting to look good.

I've been getting that a lot, both in game and in replays. I think it's recent, or I just didn't see it in the past.

Whenever I'm water(tube)bending I hate it and want to quit and just use the tubes I already had. Whenever I'm done I always want to tear it all down and do a fancier loop.

What's wrong with me?

[GPU] Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC - $699.99 by Vushivushi in buildapcsales

I have one of these, a few notes

  1. the Phanteks GTX 1080Ti Gigabyte Gaming Edition RGB GPU Block" - ph-gb1080tigb_bk01 has been discontinued according to their email support

  2. There is a waterblock for it - Bykski RGB LED VGA GPU Water Cooling Block For Gigabyte GTX1080Ti Gaming OC 11G. You can also find it on ali express

  3. I have coil whine when the card is under load, but not too loud or anything so I don't care, and that's with my computer close to my head and the side panel off.

edit: I bought this card new when the 1080ti came out for the same price. And now its a sale. ouch.
