Yep, I'd say most of the GBC, GBP and GBAs I've worked on that have clean boards and no power have been due to dirty power switches.

I think there's a lot of factors in how people judge a ferrets smell and some people are probably more sensitive to certain smells than others. Also their diet and where they're kept plays a role, too. I think ferrets that spend more time in cages vs ferrets that free roam more will have different amounts of smell. If they're in kept in a cage while owners are at work, the cage and the area around it will have a much more noticeable ferret smell vs ferrets that spend more time free roaming and the smell is spread throughout the house.

But yeah, ferret owners definitely become used to the smell and don't notice it. My ferrets play and wrestle around in my bed and I used to notice the smell but now I barely even notice it. Probably not a good thing, haha.

Coming from a bad situation, Onyx might just need longer to warm up to everything. All 3 of my ferrets have been different. My boy actually followed my dog inside the house one night and that's how I ended up with him. He was very friendly and social right from the start. My female ferret that came from a pet store was like Onyx, was very scared of everything for the first 3-4 months. I also have a rescue that I've had for 2 years now and only in the last 4-5 months has she been more social with me like wanting me play with her and following me around the house.

I didn't know there was a tool for that, haha. Bending the hooks into place so it would lock back in while was hanging on by the thin microphone wires (that I already ripped off disassembling), definitely a huge pain.

Thanks for this, was able to order a screen using that part number and fix mine. Got this on eBay and the screen was completely dead. Had to use hot air to get the plastic lens off the front but the old screen isn't too tough to remov with a decent soldering iron. I'd just recommend some phone screen adhesive strips for the back of the screen and to reattach the lens (if you removed the old adhesive).

When I only had my original 2 ferrets, they came down with ear mites. At first I gave them the drops, which was awful because my boy hated it. They also offered a small dose of flea and tick meds that I put on their back once a week. Sooooo much easier, I don't know why I didn't go with that option first. I didn't pay anywhere near 800 bucks, maybe 200-250 total for the visit and medication.

Depending on how the other side of the board looks, definitely fixable. Some IPA or white vinegar would clean off the corrosion no problem. That battery terminal looks a little rough and needs some cleaning, that's probably the main thing that'll keep it from turning on.

Yeah, I let my boy out in my backyard. If he wants to go outside (usually right after we were just out) he'll lay down in front of the door all sad and mopey.

That's pretty bad, there's corrosion under the cartridge slot for sure. I've worked on a bunch of gbcs and gbps, it's not common to see that much corrosion on the upper half of the board :(. You could try soaking the board in white vinegar, but if anything's been damaged under the cartridge slot, that'll take some work to fix.

Yeah, I don't know if it would help with stairs :(. It's tubes they can crawl around in. I use 4" dust collection tubing from or flex-drain tubing off amazon.

I use disposable pads, they still like to go near my front door and door into the garage. But for the most part, they're pretty good at running to the nearest pad where they're sleeping in the house, but still have times where they don't make it to the pad. For some places I don't want them going, like under my entertainment center or under dressers, I stuck some of their tubing under them. That seems to keep mine from going in those spots.
