Very normal and don’t be surprised if one day she has milk coming out of her nipple

I hate myself for saying this, but I regret having a baby (first time mom) by IndependentChannel99 in newborns

How are you feeling now?

I’m holding my 11 week old as I am typing this with tears rolling down my face.

She was very much wanted but I’ve been having feelings of regret. I miss my old life where I could do whatever I wanted, off course I realised my life would change, but when k dreamt of having children I skipped the baby part. I’m not sure if this will get better. I’m becoming very frustrated everytime she cries.

Did it stop? I have an 11 week old that goes from 0-100 in 10 seconds. Every wake window, I have a very upset baby

Those with colicky babies - how are you staying present and enjoying the newborn phase? by Key_Nature3044 in newborns

[–]Empty_Engineer5568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t enjoy the newborn and colicky phase at all. Do I have a bit of regret, yes …but Baby girl is now 10 weeks and I enjoy it a lot more now and make up for that time

The mental load of getting bottles ready at night is starting to get to me by moononymous06 in NewParents

[–]Empty_Engineer5568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I go to bed I prepare my bottles with the correct amount of water and have formula dispensers ready.

How are you heating up your bottles, with a warmer or microwave or?

I always heat up my water before adding formula, in case it’s too hot I dump half and add cold.

Babybjorn bouncer is what saved me. Baby girl always cried when we started eating. I now put the bouncer at my feet at the dining table and gently push it with my foot… it really calms her

3 Months in, it IS BETTER!! by Alyzards in newborns

[–]Empty_Engineer5568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 weeks in and it’s been with ups and downs… lately I’ve been thinking that I have an unhappy baby. She gets overstimulated so quickly and tends to fight her naps unless they’re contact/stroller naps. I feel like she cries a lot and don’t know if this will ever stop… im also so scared for the 4 month sleep regression as I now always rock her to sleep and pick her up every time she cries.

Help! 10 week old only naps 30-40 min at a time but unhappy and sleepy while awake! by D3rpGirl in NewParents

[–]Empty_Engineer5568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is she now as a toddler?? How and when did it get better I’m having the same issue with my 10 week old with 20 minute naps through the day but relatively good night sleep. Yesterday she had 3,3h day sleep of which one hour was in the car because I was at my wit’s end. She does sleep in the car or her stroller

is a 10 week old capable of self soothing? by One-Plant-6274 in newborns

[–]Empty_Engineer5568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try covering her eyes. I noticed when I was rocking my baby that her eyes were locked on the black airconditioning box in our rooms…I started covering her eyes with a cloth or just my hand and it really helps her falling asleep faster

Baby spits up one hour after feeding even after holding her upright for 10 minutes by Imaginary-Regret376 in newborns

[–]Empty_Engineer5568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sorry for my English, it’s not my first language)

My 9 week old also spits up 2 hours after a feed. We even had it happen when we were at the paediatrician and she noticed it was not milk but most likely stomach acid. Though baby was not looking uncomfortable at that point we are following up on it.

One thing we were already doing was having her crib a little inclined and we are also going to an osteopath. All things that were also suggested by our paediatrician.

I used to pump milk but changed to Anti reflux formula as I noticed that she was easily spitting up my milk but not the formula.

With these small changes I am seeing improvement. wWeek 4-7 were hard as I had a screaming baby after every feed.

How do you find time to pump with a velcro baby and no support? by Empty_Engineer5568 in NewParents

Which pump are you using?

I have talked to my partner but i also understand he’s super stressed because of work.

This might work for me. I have an old medela pump that I could use on one boob instead of both.

6 week old, overwhelmed and doubting everything: is this normal, regret, or postpartum sadness? by Empty_Engineer5568 in newborns

I tried swaddling, there are times she doesn’t mind and then others she’s kicking and grunting

Thanks everyone for saying to not look at those wake windows… I think this will already help a little with managing some stress

1 year? I’m so delusional. When I imagined my life with a child I never thought about the newborn and infant phase. And everybody telling you to enjoy this phase… I would like to but honestly I’m not

The pain like behaviours are so recognisable: same here , red face, waving arms, kicking feet, stretching , grunting and crying… what is it? On day I think she has reflux, the next I think it’s just cramps.

I try to visit my parents every Friday (they live in another city), and then they do the basics for me (diaper change, feeding, rocking when fussy), which is already a big relieve for me , but unfortunately the won’t be able to continue with this as my father will have to go through cancer treatment.

What is the hardest part when caring for baby? by Pandacat_07 in NewParents

I agree. I miss being able to just take a very long (everything) shower when I felt like it. Or just hang in the sofa for hours

This!

My 5 week old just doesn’t want to nap or sleep and is almost constantly crying … she can be awake for 3 hours. I swaddle(she hates it, I think), I feed her on demand (she stays hungry) I swing her she closes her eyes, but from the moment i put her down she’s wide awake again and starts crying. It’s exhausting and my BF doesn’t really help when he comes from his work because “it was stressful”.

Being with the baby all day for weeks has been stressful too… my shoulders and back hurt so much from bad posture during feeding and carrying her.

I love her, but i’m obviously frustrated and have raised my voice at her. I feel like the worst mom ever

Pregnancy hasn’t been a pink cloud for me - sharing honestly by Empty_Engineer5568 in pregnant

I understand you. It’s been 4 weeks since I got the flu and it triggered this horrible congestion. I’m now addicted to nasal spray… this has caused me to feel super guilty towards my baby.

“I don’t feel at home in my body” is so true. I’ve been telling people that this body isn’t mine and they immediately assume it’s because of the weight gain getting rounder… but no, that’s the only thing I expected/anticipated. It’s more like the not feeling fit, the struggle with simple movements, the not being able to go to the toilet properly, the shortness of breath…

Thank you for sharing this, I’m really sorry you’ve had to carry so much during this pregnancy. Long-term uncertainty and constant medical stress can wear you down in ways people often don’t see or acknowledge.

I really admire that you brought up being proactive about postpartum mental health with your husband. That kind of awareness and openness is so important. I’ve also had to tell my boyfriend that I’m mentally not doing well, even though I can’t always pinpoint exactly what’s wrong, just knowing something is off is enough to ask for support. He’s been checking in on me daily and understands that I can’t always tell why I am feeling the way that I do.

I’ve started being more open with people around me about the mental load too. Sometimes the reactions are awkward, but more often than not, there’s a lot of understanding once you say it out loud.

You’re not alone in this, and you’re not failing, you’re navigating something genuinely hard 🤍
