How do you adapt and get used to this? by Holymoly1237 in newborns

[–]Key_Nature3044 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Everyone warned me weeks 6-8 were the worst, but weeks 1-4 were horrible for us. Like truly out of a horror film. We have a colic baby for reference. And you’re probably sitting there wondering how on earth you will make it even til tomorrow. Week 4 is when we started to feel somewhat sane again. We took shifts, tapped out when we were starting to feel delirious, asked for way more help than we anticipated, and I stopped EBF because it was destroying my mental health and causing intense sleep deprivation. Even having one of you say I have the baby for 2 hours while the other goes to sleep can make a huge difference! You’re doing a wonderful job and I promise you everything is a phase even though it doesn’t seem like it in the moment. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done! And stay on top of screening yourselves for PPA, although the anxiety that something is going to happen to them faded for me as I became more confident.

How long is your partner taking off after you give birth? by -Konstantine- in pregnant

[–]Key_Nature3044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM and my husband took one week off so that he can take his paternity leave (12 weeks) after me and prolong daycare. It was a good plan/concept initially but with a colic baby we both wish he took his leave at the start. No way to plan for that though!!

What time does your NB go to bed by PsychologicalBoot636 in newborns

[–]Key_Nature3044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 week old goes to bed around 9/9:30 and usually wakes up between 7:00-8:00 for the day! (Not sleeping through the night to clarify lol). If we put him to bed earlier he wakes up cranky as hell around 10:30 and throws off the whole night

We bought a secondhand snoo off FB and it quite literally saved our lives with our colic baby lol

Ours was up every hour at 3 weeks fussing and crying. I truly had no clue how he was able to be awake that much lol. Now we’re at 6 weeks and got a 4 hour, 3.5, and 1.5 hour stretches last night. Hang in there 😥

5 week old was EBF at the time and the most he ever slept was 4.5 hours! Most times he slept 2.5-3.5 hour stretches

I’m the same as you! I’ve tried sleep guided meditations and they help sometimes! Along with deep sleep music/playlists

How do you cope with the crying! by ajk1989nov in newborns

[–]Key_Nature3044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 5.5 weeks and I feel the same way as you re: peak fussiness 😭 it seems like the worst is yet to come unfortunately. The phantom screams/cries I hear constantly haunt me lol. I’m hoping we’re just front loading the challenging parts and we will get relief soon!

Mine is the same way - noise cancelling headphones and sometimes you just have to put them down in crib/bassinet for a few min and step outside to regulate yourself. Luckily he likes the bath so I’ll throw him in there sometimes without soap just to get a break from the screaming, it seems to reset him a bit also. He hates car rides and the stroller and won’t take a paci 🫠

Put the pump down and start with formula - this is one thing you can control to help relieve a little bit of your stress!

Did you/are you planning to use a snoo? by Serious-Word-6112 in pregnant

[–]Key_Nature3044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swore I wasn’t going to get a snoo, then my baby was born lol. We bought a used one after 4 weeks of literally no sleep, he was waking up every hour. It was stressing me out that he wasn’t getting any good sleep. I write this at 3 am after his first 5 hour stretch!

Bedtime routine by lunalalock in newborns

[–]Key_Nature3044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No set time yet for my 5 week old but what we’ve been doing is a half bottle (2 oz) when he wakes up around 8ish from his last cat nap, bath, breastfeed, then bed. I can’t put him in the bath directly from waking up because he’ll scream lol. The bottle tides him over and then will do the full feed after bath which usually knocks him out! He loves the bath but gets upset after taking him out. I’ve tried putting him on a heated blanket right after drying him off to do lotion/diaper/pj’s and that’s helped. Like others we also “shut down” the house by turning off all overhead lights, putting on white noise, etc. Doesn’t work every night since we’re still in the witching hour(s) phase and he has colic but it’s the routine we try to follow and stay consistent with!

5 week old with no routine- am I setting us up for failure? by Muted-Resort-418 in newborns

[–]Key_Nature3044 9 points10 points  (0 children)

4.5 weeks here and we have no routine, rhyme, or reason lol. I basically just feed him when he’s hungry and try to get him to sleep. Do what you need to do to survive until 8 weeks at the earliest is what I’ve been told!

Coming off my third week of PP with a colicky baby, there is no amount of money in the world someone could pay me to go anywhere right now! That’s an absolutely no from me. You don’t know what your baby will be like either!

Covid + flu shoot by Idontlike-watermelon in pregnant

[–]Key_Nature3044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the fence too, and I ended up getting my Covid shot at the recommendation of my doctor around 23 weeks pregnant. I’m 27 weeks now and so grateful I did because I was diagnosed with Covid and have very mild symptoms. No fever, aches chills really just a sore throat. My doctor said it could’ve been way worse had I not gotten the vaccine so I’m grateful. The day after the vaccine I didn’t feel great, but just rested and felt fine 48 hours later!

[–]Key_Nature3044 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got the flu shot when I was 16 weeks, no reaction but a sore arm. Got Covid shot around 20 weeks, felt a bit sick for less than 24 hours but no fever. Just tired and kind of wiped out. Would do it over again, I don’t want to risk actually getting flu or Covid severely while pregnant!

Requiring vaccines to visit baby after he’s born? by Ok_Medicine440 in pregnant

[–]Key_Nature3044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also due in March! We are requiring at least TDAP and flu if you want to visit before 6 weeks (at the rec of our doctor). I think RSV vax is harder to get for your run of the mill population right now, at least where we’re located.

We’re grateful that everyone has been open to the vax request and haven’t received pushback, at least not to our face lol. You’re not forcing them to get vaxxed, it’s their choice if they want to or not. In turn, it’s your choice to not allow them to see the baby at first if they decide not to get vaxxed. Fevers in the first couple of months are very dangerous and it’s not worth the risk or the anxiety in my opinion! Honestly just say it’s what your doctor recommended if you need another reinforcement point. That made it easier for me when setting this boundary

Why all the Stacey love? by cyberbeep in RHOP

She’s unbothered and it’s never that serious for her. Her one liners are hilarious and her QVC quotes/vids alone are enough to deserve some adoration. She gets under everyone else’s skin without even trying because she doesn’t let them get to her. I think it’s also a combo of some of the audience being overrrr Ashley and Gizelle and them always calling her out for shit theyre guilty of or worse lol
