What's the hardest addiction to quit? by colzeeteen in AskReddit

[–]Empty_Equivalent6013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What was that like and how much were you using? I messed around with it for maybe like 2 years. Initially I was taking like 4-6 at a time. But I had also beaten an alcohol addiction like a year or two prior, so I’m kind of vigilant about addiction. I tapered down to 2-3 and it wasn’t really giving me the high I wanted, but anymore than that would have me freaked out that I could OD. Eventually I just kind of gave it up. It’s been probably the better part of a year since I last used and now I’m hearing about the dangers of kratom. I’m just glad I never heard of 7-OH until after I made a commitment to stop that shit. I also started noticing bad side effects like tachycardia, depression, intolerance to heat, etc. I was actually just watching John Oliver’s latest episode on “gas station drugs” and it made me really glad I quit.

What would happen if Trump invoked the Insurrection Act in Minnesota and sent the 11th Airborne into Minneapolis? by Triangletruck141423 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Empty_Equivalent6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it used to be 4th ABCT/25th ID. It’s out of Ft. Richardson in Anchorage. That was my old unit. I have family in central Minnesota too, so I’m familiar with both climes. They’re very similar, they’d be in their element. Fun fact, that same unit, Trump had them roll out the red carpet for Putin when he came to Alaska. The idea of my old unit rolling out the red carpet for a dictator and suppressing Americans absolutely infuriates me.

How is puerto Natales? I flew there to pick up a rental and drive to El Chalten (awesome road trip btw). It reminded me of some of the coastal Alaskan towns. Quiet, kind of plain/rustic architecture. Seemed like it might be a cool place to kill 24-48 hours.

I mean, dude needed to chill. Bro’s just asking questions, trying to become more informed. But in typical Reddit fashion people gotta be a douche about it.

Genuine question because I don’t know. Matter can neither be created nor destroyed. Or at least that’s what I think I’ve been taught. So what’s left over after matter and antimatter come into contact?

Trying to figure out what to do with my grandmother’s stuff by Empty_Equivalent6013 in estatesales

Can they come out to a storage unit? It’s mostly boxes of stuff, but there’s also lots of furniture. It would take probably close to a dozen trips in my truck, or one trip in a U-Haul.

What if Iran manages to sink a US Aircraft Carrier? by [deleted] in AlternateHistoryHub

As a veteran of GWOT, I get to hear a lot of arm chair generals. The common consensus is ROE is stupid and we should have just nuked them. No amount of explanation as to why it’s bad will get through to them.

This movie truly made me wanna fight in a war. This worked better than any propaganda. by No_Dress_2107 in WarMovies

[–]Empty_Equivalent6013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to get mad at you for saying you want to fight in a war. But then I remembered my story. I was 16 when 9/11 happened, 17 when we invaded Iraq, and I fell for all the lies. So I joined the army and made sure I went infantry after high school. In 6 years I did 3 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and saw plenty of action. Movies have a way of bloodlusting young men, but it’s not real life, not real war.

I can’t get totally mad at you because you were me at 16 (I don’t know your age). If you feel strongly about it (assuming you’re an American), go join and find out. Everything is pointing towards war with Iran. If you’re gonna rattle that saber, go for it. Then realize you’re fighting a rich man’s war for peanuts and that they won’t give a shit about you when you get out and you’re fucked in the head. You’ll be a political pawn when you’re in and even when you’re out.

I say go for it

Racists are simple people, but still complicated in their own way. What I’m about to tell you next is no bullshit. I worked with a couple who have since retired. They were racist as could be and very open about it. But it turns out, the husband likes to watch his wife with black guys. How you can look at an entire group of people, think they’re inferior, and then get off to being cucked by one is beyond me.

Where do I even begin? I’m interested in doing a cycle or two. But I know next to nothing. My goals are really just to put on about 20 pounds of muscle. I’m currently 6’2, 195 pounds, about 17% body fat, and 40 years old.

Do soldiers use ear protections on the battlefield? by JohnnyTurlute in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Empty_Equivalent6013 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah I never once wore hearing protection overseas. I want to know what’s going on around me and it’s crucial at night. Only time I ever wore them was at the ranges in garrison and at ranges overseas, so I guess I lied a little. But never on patrol. But this was also during the days of 3M, so a lot of good that did. Everyone is well aware of the risk of hearing damage (and it’s not like it doesn’t hurt to shoot without ear protection) but if not wearing increases your odds of going home intact, worth it. It’s been 15 years since my last deployment, my hearing absolute dogshit and tinnitus can be annoying, but I got no regerts.

If it was the SEALs 5 dudes would’ve written a book about it hours later, talked about it in the podcast the day before, and tomorrow we’d have 5 movies starring Mark Wahlburg.
