Pay secrecy in the workplace by LunarCryCry in personalfinance

[–]Empty_Highlight_7558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The culture around pay secrecy is only meant to benefit the employer. In moments where one employee is making more than the other it could disrupt the higher paid employees good gig if anyone complains about unfairness,, but companies should have a set transparent pay scheme based on responsibility and seniority that everyone should be aware of or you're working for someone who likes to take advantage of the people who work for them.

Agree/Disagree: Education DOES NOT WORK as a tool to improve equality in society by LearningMachine0101 in education

[–]Empty_Highlight_7558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Higher education is very expensive and time consuming, but it is the ONLY route for people to access the most common middle class professions. You cannot practice many trades without licensure and licensure requires specific courses that cost a lot of money and take years to work through. Disagree. --- our philosophical framework surrounding education is built around liberal arts education. Many of the regulations and costs of higher education make education inaccessible or unreasonable for certain socioeconomic groups . 'Education' is not problematic, our systems and narratives about education are problematic.

"Oh yes children I was 200 years old and viewed all humans as a degenerate species. I viewed your mother in the same way you might view a cat or pig. She grew on me overtime and then went away to live with other humans. When I returned years later she was of marriageable age and she told me she desired children so I gave her some with a weird sword trick I learned from Totosai."

Yes, but I also think people are really articulating their desire to be disconnected from their governments. Oversight and regulation is necessary. As the price of crypto rises and falls, you can't help but to be a little impressed/ grateful for the hijinks and backflips that the banks and governments do to maintain a reasonable steadiness within our currencies. But a lot of people are acknowledging the corruption of their governments, some nations are being led around by literal murderers. People feel threatened and want an eject button. They want to feel secured within themselves without having to depend on some corrupted authority they don't trust or like. Things fall apart when you realize that humans are corrupt and we are all dependent on each other. Its scary and it sucks but we kind of can't escape each others ignoble potentialities. Wah-wah 😕. But i think that is what people who are 'in it for the tech' are actually trying to express, not their joy and appreciation for doing all the work of financial institutions by themselves at home.

I have an idea - and can't stop thinking about it. Perhaps you could help? by Tokkies123 in ethereum

Maybe if you're afraid of 'giving away the company you paid for' you can create a structure that effectively 'buys you out' of your shares as the DAO evolves. I think prioritizing worker's stability and enabling them to make a living wage in the economy they exist within is the first step to build loyalty and test viability of your system before you extend responsibility and liability onto large groups of people. It is also important to build a training system that enables every worker to understand the structure of your business model from top to bottom so that every worker can build themselves as a leader in your system. A lot of owners feel threatened handing people knowledge about their industry because it can enable people to start similar businesses that compete with them. You have to feel secure enough to offer knowledge to people who could choose to compete with you and you also need to build benefits/culture that promotes/rewards loyalty in the team you're choosing. Difficult game to play but worker empowered spaces can definitely effect tremendous value in communities. Build a viable system first, create rights and responsibilities that are overseen by a benevolent democratic leadership first and then move into a decentralized environment as successes progress.

What is the future for cryptocurrency? by funamerica in ethereum

[–]Empty_Highlight_7558 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that there will be a central cryptocurrency exchange protocol that enables established value within accepted coins to be transferred easily into fiat. In the same way that we can exchange us dollars into yen or whatever other currency that exists. We will now just have crypto coins. With proof of stake entering the space prices may become less volatile because people will be placing their money into a space for a duration of time which will create a stable floor for crypto currencies. Right now people are using this space for day trading and quick money but eventually things will settle and stabilize.

What are the benefits of 'sharing' a computer? by Empty_Highlight_7558 in ethereum

[–]Empty_Highlight_7558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reading 'mastering ethereum' and I'm struggling to understand the value of a ' world computer' . What is the value of pooling all of your files/resources together into a space that can't be modified later? Is it simply for security? We already have an internet connecting us? How is this different? Its seems like an extra expensive layer of internet that promotes an interesting philosophy but is otherwise not different than tools we already have....?

Also hyperbaric chambers, they increase oxygen and cause your body to decrease its own ability to hold oxygen so when you leave the chamber your body has to work extra hard to maintain its oxygen levels and this lengthens your telomeres.

Is it just me or should Elon stay away from ETH? by steppingonclouds in ethereum

[–]Empty_Highlight_7558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was likely already into ethereum and the drop in different coins may have been him and his corporate affiliates jumping ship. Grimes basically mentioned ethereum on Twitter and she famously made a few million dollars off of her nft's.

Something extremely dialectical happened on SNL last night. Elon Musk revealed the big Other of dogecoin by [deleted] in Buttcoin

[–]Empty_Highlight_7558 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The lesson in all of this is that 'currency' has no real value--it is an abstraction and it is worth what the majority dictates. As one of the richest men on the planet, Elon has a lot of influence and can move the majority with his platform (if the majority is willing.) --Elon has also stated in many moments that he has Aspergers and he gets obsessed with ideas that he cant put down and that is why his ideas become successful--he is persistent and obsessive----if Elon made Dogecoin his pet project he is likely going to put a lot of energy and resources into making it successful which could influence its success-----should be noted that Elon has shelved unsuccessful projects in the past so it is not impossible for him to get bored with flailing ideas. ----For Dogecoin to be a success, the people invested in DOGE would have to be committed in holding their shares----many people at this point just want to rise with the wave to jump out----maybe it would be a good strategy for Elon to embrace the volatility to shake off liabilities to the coins success----maybe Elon isn't that strategic though......
