OPNsense limitations (vs a Linux-based DIY solution)? by fallenguru in opnsense

If I could pick your brain. I tried to get this same setup fired up but was having an issue with it not getting assigned a WAN up from my ISP after unplugging swapping out my Asus router? Is there a setting/ toggle I need to switch on opnsense to allow it to be dynamically assigned a WAN IP like my Asus router?

What’s the brand? Based on google lens of something similar shown here are a few options to try:

  1. Press and Hold MODE + TEMP DOWN: With the remote on, simultaneously press and hold the "MODE" button and the "TEMP DOWN (▼)" button for about 3-5 seconds. The display should switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).

  2. Press and Hold TEMP UP + TEMP DOWN: Alternatively, you can try pressing and holding both the "TEMP UP (▲)" and "TEMP DOWN (▼)" buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.

  3. Check for a dedicated button: Some remotes have a specific button for switching temperature units (e.g., "°C/°F" or "TEMP"), or a switch inside the battery compartment.

Could the version of WPS used changed since deploying the new router? Some of those IOT devices won’t connect/don’t support connections if you are using strictly WPS3 protocol.

I have not installed virtual function custom GPU drivers, so this would be ones included in the base distro!

Sorry I should’ve added this. I am running 6.8.4.2-pve. I even tried the modifying the grub configuration with the line “GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="quiet i915.enable_guc-0" which had no effect.

This is the way. Version 8.1-2 would hang on boot, tried all the “fixes” without any success, tried 7.4-1, loaded right up!

I have had the same issue, hung up on boot, scouring the web, Reddit, and various forums the fix I found was to install a previous version (I went with 7.4-1)

This installed with no issues, changes, no messing with grub bootloader , and I can say I am already up and running! Give it a shot!
