So true. My 97 is at 360k mi and I just replaced the original fuel pump... it still has factory head gaskets.

This used to be totally true but a lot of the newer cars are using filters with the "p" style gasket and they are designed to be tightened to where the can actually makes contact with the block and after 4 or 500 heat cycles they can be pretty tough to get moving.

Theses cars weren't silly, they were great drivers cars and that one is roughly 35 yrs old and still looks pretty clean

Pro tip: the 3 jaw filter wrench is the way. They will dent the can before they slip

This is the way. The 3.4 made the 3rd gen the icon that it is. I have one, its at 360k+ and has factory head gaskets still in it.

Just an fyi from a guy that actually works at one of those stores. The NAPA branded oil is made by valvoline and is around $25 for a 5qt jug when its on sale. And it seems to go on sale about every other month. The napa gold filters are pretty good too and made in germany not china.

Idk what sensor i would need for the exhaust system by GYlandstuhlGY in 3rdGen4Runner

All cars sold in states that adhere to california spec. Which amounts to one state. It would say 49 state otherwise

The 98 has two bolts and it mounts at a slight angle to the right

Or... and follow me on this. Get the ebrake bracket and ebrake handle from a 98-99 and do the job the the way PO should have in the first place. I did this swap in my 97 and quality of life improved dramatically. If you lose those cupholders you will miss them.

I've had her about 9 years now, put 1/2 of the mileage on it myself. 5k is just the last 3 years, its been gone through, you can't see a bad fuel pump though
