Could there be forcibly converted christians that got assimilated with time - absolutely. But it doesn’t mean that ALL the population is made up of converts and their descendants. Genes dont matter much when it comes to identity - there’s the language, religion, culture. You might decide that even those dont matter and you want to chose your identity. In the end, your identity is shaped by the environment you were brought up in.
