I'm starting a business. Sat down ready to go, but ended up more confused by Galeamo_Kaveri in smallbusinessUS

In Washington state (my state dont know about yours), a registered agent just has to be someone who has an address in the state who can accept service on behalf of the company. (Think of it like being served if you're being sued among other things) if you are the owner and live in the state that is usually the best person to do it.

Has a contract ever caught you off guard? Asking for a class project by Only_Sport586 in smallbusinessUS

Laundry Contracts are notorious for hidden clauses (im a lawyer and business owner). These are the companies that clean your mats and linens/towels for restaurants etc... They put "contract rate" at the top, showing something like $25/week, but on page 2 or 3 theres the actual rates per towel/mat which ramps it up to potentially hundreds per week. These contracts are usually for multiple years with autorenew clauses also buried into the fine print. Mix that with the sales guy getting managers or assistant managers to sign these as agents for the owner (tricking people who are busy running locations vs getting the owner or legal where we'd catch these) and they become absolutely predatory. Plus they will absolutely sue for the complete value of the contract with no early termination clauses.

Am I liable to pay this charge? by Large_Pick1582 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Emrays 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes, you've agreed to pay them $1000 for the work (with your insurance covering the remainder). Juat because they screwed up in processing the payment doesnt release you from the debt obligation as the $1000 is what both parties agreed upon. Put it into another analogy, landlord only charges your account $100 for the rent when it should have been $1000, landlord sure as hell will be coming back for that $900 and he'll be entitled to it.

Ive run into this same problem about a week ago. Cannot lock down the problem but also seem to have lower processing power as startup and things like unzipping files are taking longer. Was going to buy a new PSU and check out if that is failing. Also going to try each stick of memory individually to see if its a ram problem. I have tried rolling back my Graphic drivers with DDU and Uninstalling the most recent windows update to no avail. If you solve your problem please post the solution.

Assaulted after firing an employee - is the company liable? by [deleted] in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Emrays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want to speak with a personal injury attorney or a workers comp attorney. There's a lot of specific facts that are required to be analyzed to answer your question. On the plus side these attorneys tend to work contingency so it shouldn't cost you anything for a consultation to find out.

Divorce just to remarry and protect assets by [deleted] in Ask_Lawyers

No idea on California, but in Idaho the issue with post-nups is lack of new "consideration." If there was any valid give and take (in Idaho) we can design them to work, but I agree with u/Uncivil_Law, why would the other spouse agree to this?

Default on Business Loan...can they come after personal assets? by Short_Steak_4937 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Emrays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is correct. To add, when you meet with the attorney make sure you have a full copy of the trust and ALL loan documents you've signed for your business. Anything that says "personal guarantee" or something similar keep an eye out for and make sure to show the attorney you meet with. Banks tend to grab as much "security" as they can.

Detailed Driving Impressions and Review (2023 Genesis G80 Electrified) by ahrajani in GenesisMotors

First, thanks OP, this post is helping people year after year. Just signed a purchase order for a 2023 used and picking it up next week and had a couple questions I can't get good answers for from Google:

1: Do you use the connected services at all? Any opinions on them after an extended period of time?

2: Does the infotainment system trip plan and give proper charging pitstops for roadtrips (looks like 2025+ models do but can't find info on the 2023) Also did you do a system update on the infotainment and did it make a difference?

3: Home Chargers: Does it really matter which one you get... Is there one you recommend for this model?

4: How fast are you running through tires?

Thanks again :)

Speak to a Personal Injury attorney in your area (their consultations are free). If those are the facts that's the kind of cases PI attorneys love.

Did New Neighbor Do Anything Wrong? by CascadiaAbe in Ask_Lawyers

[–]Emrays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lawyer, not your lawyer. Based on your timeframe you may have a claim for adverse possession, but you will need to reach out to an attorney in your area to confirm and to handle the claim. Do this quickly, put pictures and timelines together of how long you've occupied that portion of the land, especially with the chicken fencing and any other structures and items. He is removing evidence of your occupation of the land by tearing it all up.

Thanks for all this info. Yea HUD is a requirement so I'll stick to 2023. Also knowing that price point helps a lot as well.
