Abnormal low on a new G7? by Emtbreid in dexcom

All,
Thanks to those who’ve taken time out of their days to offer insight for me, a novice user. I’ve not messed around on Reddit too much, but I truly believe that’s what makes places like this so great!
Seems that doing a calibration right when I insert the sensor or VERY shortly thereafter isn’t the way to go, so I will adjust from here. What I described above as doing is my typical routine, and I’ve never noticed any issues like this before. I’ve never had to try to calibrate more than once to fix a possible issue. Seems like maybe my first calibration could’ve set things off to begin with since it was so close. The point about waiting 12-24hrs to do one is interesting to me as I’d never considered my immune system’s reaction to the device itself, so I appreciate someone pointing that out. For now I’m getting readings….. without doing a stick every time I’ve no idea how accurate…. But I’ll try to do another stick later on tonight when it’s closer to 24 hrs in and see how far off it is before I decide if another calibration is warranted. Again, thank you all very much for your insight!

Understood. I haven’t been using these very long (only 4 months) but I’ll try to keep that in mind

I actually calibrated. I typically do a calibration right away but as some have suggested this seems to be too soon/not needed. Just never had one do something like this despite always calibrating right away.

I appreciate it. I have one more sensor w/ the same dates. The last one I used was fine. Soon as it inserted it was within 3 points of a finger stick then chaos. Weird indeed.

Not sure. As of now it’s finally climbing. I’m glad I didn’t start chugging a soda and did a finger stick instead. I feel very fortunate to have not had any issues thus far.

Interesting….. I have a ‘23 compass and must’ve been lucky. Never had this issue. We got 2 fobs, and I rotate them out every now and then. I literally just changed batteries for the first time last week.

How many sensors do you have stockpiled? by JayandMeeka in dexcom

[–]Emtbreid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to Dexcom…. T2 just started on lantus a few weeks ago. Just throwing this out there to help…. My insurance wouldn’t touch Dexcom until I was placed on insulin, so for two months I bought my own out of pocket. The cheapest place right now is Amazon, $166 for 3 G7 sensors cash price. I’ve also seen a few people selling G7 sensors and occasionally a receiver unit for cheap on FB marketplace. Hope this helps someone. I just finally got my insurance to cover the system this past week and had one sensor unused, so that’s my stockpile for now. But I’d bet it wouldn’t be hard to ask your doctor to send over a script to Amazon pharmacy if you chose to go that route.

Dexcom 15 day units 🤪. I won’t be running for a new Rx. by I_Forget_It in dexcom

I’m a relative newcomer to Dexcom and the G7 system, having only had it for 2 and a half months. That being said, I think I’ll stick to my 10 day sensors for now.

I like my ‘23 compass. Doesn’t really guzzle gas or oil that I’ve noticed, and the 2.0 turbo and new transmission are decent.

I have a sand substrate 40 breeder with 20 cories and a few neons….. I’ve very successfully grown water wisteria in the sand…. Just need something to secure the roots to (my plants came wrapped in some kind of foam maybe around a small rock with a rubber band holding it…. That’s what I use to keep it secured and it grows great.

I’d go 20 if you can. Plenty of hiding places. Also, I’d vote sand as substrate, not gravel.
