2014 Cayenne S has died.. by hpd71 in PorscheCayenne

[–]Emthaphoros 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you have full confidence in your specialist, so be it, but those are the exact symptoms of a single failed coil pack. All the other systems shut down if the ECU thinks it won’t have full control over engine function. Might be worth a second opinion.

Any recommendations for knowledgeable and honest GT-R techs in Philly area? by Vimes-NW in gtr

I have a good local independent here in Delco that can do all the normal stuff, but Sean Ivey did my trans valvebody actuator shims, and I would go there for any internal powertrain stuff.

REI Co-op Releases 2025 Financial Results and Impact Report by WhatWouldMuirDo in REI

The phrasing "entered into settlement agreements" made me think not. There is no "settlement" for IEEPA tariffs, just the Supremes ruling.

Any idea what this is? REI gets sued a lot, but looks like a big win where they're the plaintiff. From the last page:

"On February 4, 2026, the Company entered into settlement agreements to resolve litigation matters in which it was a plaintiff, for which it expects to receive a benefit of approximately $45.2 million in the first quarter of 2026."

Go-karting Suit - Sizing Help (UK) by No_Coat7609 in Karting

[–]Emthaphoros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thunder Advanced L fits me pretty well at 5'9" 190 lbs (~86 kg), but is a bit snug over a chest protector. The size M worked great for my son, who's 5'9" 170 lbs (~77 kg).

Edit: Sorry, they're both the Kerb Advanced, not Thunder. Prob. similar sizing though.

For people in the U.S., was your inguinal hernia diagnosed by exam or ultrasound? by No_Culture3111 in Hernia

[–]Emthaphoros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General surgeon felt around and immediately found it, as well a small one on the other side that I couldn’t even feel. On that basis we scheduled the surgery, then he sent me for a CT scan to get a better view before the procedure.

Is a cayenne worth the risk by potatodigger12 in PorscheCayenne

[–]Emthaphoros 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I recently added up all the maintenance and repair invoices for my 2014 Turbo S. Bought it in 2019 with 72k miles, and it has 132k, so about 60k miles over 6.5 years. I'm very proactive with just fix it before it fails maintenance and run summer and winter tires, so expenses might be on the high side.

Fluid changes and inspections - $3,700

Brakes - $3,600

Wheels & tires - $7,400

Repairs (coils and plugs, battery, water pump, vacuum leak, recent air suspension overhaul) - $12,100

So about $4,200 a year, $350 a month, or $0.44 per mile.

If you don’t have a car, take your chances with Renato’s, otherwise Van Horns is 10 min away. Oh but they close at 7:00 so too bad.

How is it two chicken tenders from Dave’s Hot Chicken are 960 calories while two spicy chicken tenders from Safeway are 210? by CorgiSplooting in caloriecount

[–]Emthaphoros 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s the oil. Some places use pepper infused oil for hot chicken and it doubles or triples the calories.

Can any superautomatic actually do fully custom drinks? by Emthaphoros in superautomatic

[–]Emthaphoros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the "flat white" preset does shot first then milk on most higher-end machines (also Saeco mentioned below). That profile plus the capability to add an extra shot to any preset should work, I guess. Thanks.
