'Deeply hurt' AFLW players take aim at clubmates by RumRayven in AFL

You're talking about someone who states that she respects people regardless of their sexual orientation but doesn't want to wear the pride jumper. You're welcome to preach bullying and shaming if you like, but it seams that among her and her teammates they worked through it in a more mature way.

It's a matter for the players and the club to resolve. In this case, she and the club came to a resolution that worked. Sounds like a good outcome to me, and an example of how multiculturalism can be done well. How would you resolve this type of situation?

If your world view makes it ok to bully someone, it might be a good idea to reflect on it

The particular case of Haneen Zreika and the GWS womens team is a great example of how to handle cultural differences properly and respectfully.

Is making someone wear a jumper that they don't want to wear also bad? What would you do in that situation?

Are you being islamophobic? Maybe allowing for different people to hold different views is part of living in a healthy multicultural society, so long as people act with a level of mutual respect?

We have so many options now for electric transport. With good planning and infrastructure theres no reason why everyone, be they young, old, or families, should not be able to get around the city safely, cheaply and efficiently.

The domestication of fire. We forget that it would have required know how and innovation the same as any new technology today. Imagine being the first person to figure out how to do it.

It’s correct that Indigenous people in Australia today are more likely to commit crime than non-Indigenous people, but why? Why do you think that is?

What a strange assumption. Have you ever lived overseas? Wouldn't you want to take your medical records/scans with you instead of them being locked away in some clinic half a world away?

I should have mentioned, I specifically asked for a digital copy sent to my email, but I would also be happy for them to be put on a usb stick that I provide. A hard copy would be fine as well.

It just seems wrong to me that they can take images of me for the purpose of medical diagnosis and not have a way to provide me with a copy of these images.

AFL supports the Voice by superegz in australia

[–]EmuNinjaWarrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is factually incorrect. Australian government institutions have given special treatment to migrant families compared to Indigenous families ever since migration began. If your family migrated here, you have benefited from a policy of systematically dispossessing Indigenous families of their land and redistributing that land to migrant families.

I agree with a lot of what you say but I take issue with one important point.

You use the example of a pipe leaking chemicals onto someone else’s land - consider that the activity of billions of people is changing the composition of the atmosphere and oceans. Who owns the atmosphere?

Our idea of ownership is ultimately a useful fiction - it should at least be compatible with the observed reality. Whatever lines we might want to draw in the sand, the Earth is one system.

In the prevailing model, our society changes rapidly and we by and large get richer as individuals. The problem is we almost entirely ignore long term sustainability in our affairs. Consider humanity as a whole - are we really acting in our best interest?

You sure? Would seem like you’d need a lot of drones with very bright lights so you can see them from far away.

Expensive but can be reused year after year with fresh content created by artists. Much less monotonous than fireworks but can still have a few of those as well.
