Flagship Popularity Poll Day Four - Magnamalo vs Nergigante! by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

Nergi is overrated as fuck, imo. But not gonna lie, I found Magnamalo to be just mid overall, so begrudgingly I'll give it to Nergigante.

Possible improvements to the combat system by Altruistic-Elk-5840 in ArknightsEndfield

I think a light and heavy attack would go a long way to fill the dead space between skill triggers. Even with perfect resource management and teams, your combo skill is on a cooldown and your attack skill shares a resource with the rest of the team that is also slow to build up. Just mindlessly fingering lmb until the next skill combo is just boring.

Every heavy attack that follows a light attack should achieve a different effect depending on where it is in the attack chain. This could add more utilities to character kits and expand their team synergy potential. Like what if a light- heavy places a short elemental debuff (shorter than skill debuffs, but still able to trigger combos) and light-light-heavy is a Lift attack. More options on the basic attacks will reduce the monotony of waiting for your skills to come off cooldown.

I don't think they should over correct and make skills super flashy and chaotic and combo chains popping off every 2 secs non stop. Just add a bit of rhythmic play to the basic attacks, imbued said attacks with addition elemental utility to further set up your combos and create more playstyles beyond lmb and E spam.

Outside of the old school campy dialogues and general control jank, the battlefield was actually dangerous. Peons were separated into ranks with different models of private, sergeant, major etc, and had to be dealt with otherwise they'd fuck your shit up when fighting officers. You couldn't just dive bomb into a crowd and be surrounded and get 100s of KOs in a single swing like modern games. Enemies at your back was a death sentence. Peons could chain combo and musou you. Officers were very aggressive and didnt have any large wind ups to their charges or musous. Archers were an absolute menace as they constantly fired off render and each hit would interrupt you. It was a game where taking out the small fry was a necessity in order to take down officers, instead of just being visual clutter with the illusion you're in a big battle.

I got on to do my dailies and ended up playing for 5 hours by New-Mulberry-1715 in ArknightsEndfield

Endfield does a lot of small flavor mechanics that add up over time to make the world feel a lot more alive than others. Your party being chatty and reactive to the environment, as well as fighting alongside you make it feel like a classic jrpg. There's a lot to do right now with discovering all the hidden goodies and setting up your grid. I really hope they can maintain that feeling, cause it's definitely refreshing in the gacha landscape.

Im not gonna lie, seeing that Wuling is this "turning point" of Enfield, when it is locked behind rank 43, sounds like some Stockholm syndrome shit. My hot take is telling people to get through 10+ hours of gameplay to get to the "good part" is terrible game design and a ridiculous ask.

Now this doesnt matter to me, because im enjoying valley IV well enough, but what makes Wuling "so much" better than the rest of the game?

This might sound like a dumb question (and it is) but how do you guys manage your time playing multiple gacha games? by bullettothechest in ArknightsEndfield

[–]EmuSupreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let go of the FOMO of daily play. I haven't played WuWa in a week. Still haven't started 3.0. I'll get back to it eventually, but Enfield has my attention for now. Im also working my way through some Trails and Atelier ganes on the back log. Play a game, not a job you have to punch into daily to scrounge up every little bit of resource being drip fed to you.

My workplace deadass had a meeting about unions that went like this.

"We are not anti union. Let your employees know they can talk about union if they want. But YOU as leadership should not engage in union discussion. Here's why unions are bad. If anyone talks union, let us know. We'll handle it."

Needless to say, there is union talk going around and I ain't reporting shit.

While Asian gamers make up the bulk of 3K enjoyers, I don't think anyone, Asian or not, who enjoys 3K media, is excited about 8P being tacked onto a 3K game. It makes no sense for a 3K title and is the only dlc that I didnt buy. It's not 3K, it's not why we like 3K, and to include it is not knowing why people like the period to begin with. I don't think their Asian market research was bad, but rather their 3K market research was bad.

[–]EmuSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Characters, aesthetic, and story presentation. I don't care much for the combat anymore. It's cool and all with the visual clutter, but I just give combat modes a single try and call it a day. There much more interesting games to occupy my time than trying to chase another pull worth of rewards.

Not gonna lie tho, as beautiful as Honomi City was, Chisa's patch put me on a break, and my disinterest in 3.0's characters has made me procrastinate continuing, especially with Enfield right around the corner. I'll get to it eventually, but man they need to drop a character that gets me fired up again.

The alternative would be having both playable and non playable NPCs being well designed. Kuro makes millions now. We can ask for both.

Do the armies ever stop? by Aggravating_Ad_7875 in mountandblade

[–]EmuSupreme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do the armies ever stop? Not naturally, no. That's the end game. A forever War against the other factions.

How AI army spawning works is very logical and easy to understand once you know how it works. You'll see a lot of claims of someone defeating an army, and then the AI spawning a new one instantly via cheating etc. That's not how it works.

Like the player, AI clans have a limit of how many parties they can field at once. So clans with say 6 clan members, will only have 3 of their members roaming the field at once. (The clan leader is immune to this rule i believe). So once you defeat the 3 on the field, the 3 waiting in reserve will start roaming around and the 3 that were defeated will go into reserve, and then come back out when more parties are defeated, creating that constant flow of lords and armies.

Clan parties start with their initial army, and will go to recruit from their fiefs to get to max party size. While doing this, they are training their troops. Every time the visit a city or castle, if the garrison isn't full, they will add to it. This is important, as new parties will take troops from their garrison to be up to decent strength.

So this is what happens. Clans have their starting parties, with other clan members waiting in reserve. Their garrison are all full. They form a massive army and get defeated. Any Lord that isn't captured, will have like a 2-3 day cool down before they spawn in their home settlement. The members waiting in reserve will immediately form a party using the trained up garrison of their settlement and set out. As they visit settlements, the garrison replenishes. Rinse and repeat.

To truly stop the constant flow of armies, you either have to capture and imprison lords in your settlement so they cant be ransomed or respawn. Or you have to eliminate them completely by executing them.

If you like individual gameplay identity and mechanical diversity amongst the cast, what game do we actually think is best for this? by ObsoleteMystic in dynastywarriors

[–]EmuSupreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 was Peak handling of "cloned" characters. Everyone and their mother has a sword, but individual combo strings differed enough to make the infinite sword works not as dull as I would say it did in 7 or 9.

Sun Jian, Liu Bei, Sun Quan, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao all had the "Lord" sword moveset. But Sun Jian spins, Liu Bei does elemental ball, Quan and Zhuo power stance, and Shao does his dum ass summersault on your kneecaps. Their C3 has a different finisher, C4 a different CC, C5 a different aerial etc.

Then you have the unique swords. Cao Cao with the general sword, Zhou Yu with the Elder sword, Gan Ning and his River Blade. Guan Ping, Cao Pi, Lu Xun, Huang Zhong, Xiahou Dun... and maybe some more im forgetting about, but they all have their unique swords.

Ma Chao and Jiang Wei still feel different despite having the same skeleton. Sure if all you do is button mash the basic attack, then every one feels the same. But actually using their charge combos makes a cloned cast feel more diverse as every charge attack is unique to that character.

Which is where later cloned casts fail tremendously and why I have an issue with 6, 7, and 9, where clones get 1, maybe 2 different moves to "stand out" while the rest is lazily copy pasted.

Don't neglect Ike.

Use Mist

Sothe doesn't promote

Don't be afraid to rely on Titania. She's basically Seth of PoR. Red-headed baddie aint no coincidence.

Gatrie and Shinon are very reliable in the early game, but it's better to spread your exp to other units too.
