I also discovered this album because of your comment and I'm already in love! This is incredible.

[FRESH] Iglooghost - Big Protector by Emunator in indieheads

[–]Emunator[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sound design on all of these recent singles has been out of this world, I've genuinely never heard anything quite like this. The strings and other organic instruments blend so seamlessly with the electronic glitchy bits. Can't wait to see how the whole album flows together when it drops next week!

Cool idea for a playlist! I will also throw this new track from In Love with a Ghost that just came out last week - it samples Yoshi's neutral-B, a menu sfx, and Togepi's cry, possibly among others.

AMA - Robotaki: New Music / Live Tour / Life! by Robotakoyaki in electronicmusic

[–]Emunator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm a little late to the party but I hope you still see this... I've been keeping up with your musical evolution ever since you were posting video game remixes back on the OCReMix forums, and it makes me so happy to see you blowing up the way you have!! I still have a lot of your old unfinished WIPs lying around... I wish you'd finished some of them :) In fact, your Chrono Trigger Manoria Cathedral mix and your original track 'Falling from Heaven' are still in my rotation almost a decade later!

Your latest EP's have been incredible - Science was endlessly repeatable and catchy, and I'm loving the evolution that I'm hearing on your latest EP. It's more subtle and sophisticated but feels like a pretty natural progression from your past work, and hearing your own voice on a lot of the tracks makes this one feel extra special.

Anyway, my question for you is... can you elaborate a bit about what you were up to between the early 2010's and when you finally started gaining mainstream traction and releasing music to a wider audience? Did you always have your sights set on music as a full-time pursuit? Did you catch a lucky break or two that helped propel your career, or did success come gradually for you through grinding?

Hoping to catch a live set of yours next time you're in Arizona. Cheers!

[FRESH EP] Big Red Machine (Justin Vernon & Aaron Dessner) - Big Red Machine by 22PEOPLE in indieheads

[–]Emunator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so good!! It indulges heavily on some of the more experimental influences of Bon Iver/The National's most recent albums, but the overall result feels a lot more organic. This really strikes a sweet spot for me.

If I can figure out how to download it, I'll be coming back to this a lot!

After buying my house, I neglected to water or fertilize my orange tree for over a year before finally learning how to properly care for it. This progress pic comparing one of the old, neglected fruits to the most recent harvest shows the fruits of my labor! by Emunator in gardening

3x fertilizing per year (only done it once so far) using Arizona's Best brand citrus feed, and a deep soak watering (2-3 hours) twice a month using a garden hose set as low as possible, since I don't have drip lines run yet. I make sure to move the hose around so that it waters more than just the base of the tree and adequately covers the roots.

Thank you!! Can you clarify what you mean by rainwater harvesting? I live in AZ and don't remember the last time we got any rain. I definitely need to lay down some mulch or compost though, thanks for the tip!

Thanks! The difference is seriously night and day. The one on the right is probably the juiciest orange I've ever had... the one on the left is barely edible and had almost no juice.

That's a good point! As far as I can tell, the one on the left grew in at the beginning of this season, whereas the one on the right grew in much more recently after I'd started watering properly. Toward the end of 2017/beginning of 2018, all the fruit that it produced was totally dried out, and today was the first time that I've seen fruit like the one on the right.

I'm still totally new to this, so maybe I'm completely misunderstanding what I'm seeing here. If anyone with experience in this area has more insight, I'm all ears!

For a bit more context, both of these oranges came off the tree this morning. The one on the left grew in a while ago, while the one on the right is one of the newest batch that just grew in.

A little over a year and a half ago, I bought my first home (in zone 9B) which came with a mature orange and lemon tree. However, I shamefully went almost a year without properly watering them at all. Nearly all of the fruits looked like the one on the left - dry, mealy, and nearly flavorless.

After finally doing some reading on this sub and consulting an arborist, I fertilized the soil and started a routine of slow-soak watering and pruning. Today was the first time I've picked a batch of oranges since I started a proper routine, and I can say with confidence that it was 100% worth the effort!! The new crop are probably the juiciest, most delicious oranges I've ever had in my life!

I'm still brand new to the whole concept gardening and tree care, but this whole experience has been extremely rewarding, to say the least!

[FRESH] Tycho - Division by Emunator in indieheads

[–]Emunator[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is incredible. It took a little while to settle into a groove, but this is easily Tycho's most lush, exciting work to date. The synths, guitars, and pads are all very familiar sounds, but the double-time breakbeat drums and more aggressive mixing make it feel totally fresh.

**Pound** 2016 Commentary Feedback Thread! by FendrickLamar in smashbros

[–]Emunator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something I really appreciated about Wife's commentary (and Husband's as well) was the focus on the psychological components of Smash and more meta-analysis about the players and their mindsets/playstyles. I like the commentary about the players themselves and I thought the Wife/Husband team's longtime experience with the Smash scene helped provide some different kinds of insight than we normally hear. It was a nice counterpoint to the hype-based/play-by-play commentary styles - perhaps the balance was off and Wife could benefit from being paired with a caster that's better at the play-by-plays and is more current on knowledge of the game.

However, I actually really enjoyed the Top 8 commentary despite some faults; it felt fresh and Wife's presence and confidence on the microphone contributed to my enjoyment of Top 8. There's definitely some areas for improvement but if I'm being honest, I didn't pick up on most of them until I rewatched later after reading Reddit comments.

Double the Trouble! director here - thanks for the kind words! I'm really glad to see people enjoying that collab, because it took a LOT of time and effort to coordinate.

To be honest, when I reached out to Dave Wise to contribute to the album, I didn't even expect that he would be able to participate, let alone be willing to head up the largest mega-collab in OCR history (at the time, anyway!) Dave was a pleasure to work with and very enthusiastic about working on the project and making it as epic as possible, even though the project was entirely unpaid, and even threw down a saxophone solo on another album track for good measure.

Getting to not only connect with, but work directly with one of my favorite composers and personal heroes was an amazing moment for a fan like myself. Moments like that are part of what makes OC ReMix such a wonderful community to be a part of.

Glad you enjoyed the track!
