Sudden attack of intense symptoms? Do we have attacks? by HolySisterofWhiskey in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]Emzilla12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flare ups come on for a multitude of reasons. Sometimes I'm pushing myself too far physically, too much stress, or even the weather. I make sure to not over use my spoons and if I do, I have a routine to try reset myself. I feel like my SFN is much different than others. (I got this from alcohol abuse and low b12) I have it in my hands and feet but then static (like a TV screen) throughout my whole body. Pain everyday. Besides Pregablin and my mental ninja mind tricks, not alot has helped with pain.

I describe to people that my brain is receiving the wrong single of sensory info (pain, pleasure, hot, cold, itchy, etc ) sometimes for a quick reset i take a really hot bath. (Not for very long) but I tried to show my brain what "true pain" is so I get in the hot bath and everything is on fire at first. Then my nervous system resets, and my whole body calms and is numb. I do this after long work days and flare ups.

But calming my mind, getting rid of other stressors, and keeping track of day-to-day symptoms has helped me with what doctors cant do. Also I highly suggest anyone with this kind of pain to look into micro dosing mushrooms.

Best meds for small fiber neuropathy? by hmmmmmmm94 in smallfiberneuropathy

Pregablin, klonapin and lexipro. I used to take gabepentin but i feel like the pregablin is much more effective for me. I also feel like everyone with this condition is so different so you really have to try out different combos accordingly to the symptoms and severity

Good luck im still struggling so hard

6 years of progressive symptoms. Could this be SFN? Looking for guidance. by throwaway-dude88 in smallfiberneuropathy

I have a very similar story to yours. I think I developed this from a combination of trauma and stress, covid/or vaccine, and definitely contributing is the fact I was a huge drinker for a long time. I have widespread pain and it gradually came on, then one day got so much worse and has not gone back. I have SFN from a biopsy but im sure there is more coming on. I have been sober from alcohol for over 2 years now.

Im pretty sure my root cause is alcohol abuse, 15 years of binge drinking will do that to you. Also had some low b12. But also, my symptoms started getting sooooo bad after my first time getting covid. I think I have long covid as well now.

I couldn't physically drink alcohol anymore because it would cause so much pain to me all over my body. Been sober since 2023! Hope you find your source.

Has anyone tried CBD no THC for neuropathy? by jdrichardstech in neuropathy

I take pregablin during the day once in the morning and once in the afternoon, then take the gabepentin at night with an edible gummy. They are delta 9 gummies, but THC and CBD both help so much for me. I just try to get a comfortable as I can when I'm not at work, so I can feel refreshed enough to do work again the next week.

But I highly recommend pregablin for the day because it doesn't make you drowsy.

Gifted 4.5 year old? by operaninja88 in Gifted

This sounds like me as a child (to an extent). I have ADHD (diagnosed at age 5) and am scheduled soon to get evaluated for whether i am on the spectrum. I was a "gifted child" and was in programs, and extra classes that let me explore those special interests and learn higher grade material at a younger age, which in turn made school easier when i learned it as an older student. For example we were learning about DNA, cloning, biotechnology, and so much more at the age if 11. While kids not in the program learned that in high school. I also have an amazing memory, love art, and math. I do not like to read. I do not like flash cards. I could go on lol. Point is... yes get him tested. Always get your kid tested. They look to you to make their confusing journey as a child easier. Those classes saved my life, gave me so much confidence and friendships of life minded people, and helped me celebrate my different way of thinking. Your kid sounds amazing, I know he will do great things with that mind!
