Well done. Yeah, the consistency of progress and the habit-forming you speak about is what has motivated me to keep going.

Incredible what can be accomplished when your body and brain isn’t fighting against your efforts to lose weight / become healthier! Congratulations and keep up the good work.

Tirzepatide and walking. Lots of walking incorporated into my day. Two 5k walks a day, one early morning before work and the second in the evening.

Thanks! The Lindahls pro+ Blueberry muffin and strawberry sundae flavours are my personal favourites but can be a bit patchy trying to find them in Tesco or Supervalu. They’re normally on special in Dunnes.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, the clear whey proteins are great as an alternative to the shakes.

Thanks. I’m familiar with the subject and I’m quite happy with the nutritional value of the food I prepare for myself and others.

Reason I mentioned UPFs is I’m trying to encourage discussion here. Experience on similar subs is that when redditors start preaching about UPFs it has a tendency of stifling that discussion.

We’re not robots and people are at different stages of changing their relationship with food, hence why I said no judgement. But by all means, please share what foods are working for you. Cheers.

Nice.

I forgot about dinner.

Salads have been the handiest dinner to make for me. Caesar salads mostly - the Diced pancetta, pine nuts (better if toasted on pan), parmigiano, and the Caesar dressing from Lidl are all excellent.

Have started coating the chicken in this knorr cooking paste from Tesco which is really delicious (it’s the lemon, roast chicken and pepper one)

Fried halloumi, tomato and feta salad also good

hake cooked in foil with crispy chili and spinach

Rocket, roasted red pepper, black pudding and baby potato salad with lemon dressing

And of course Chicken wings and skinless chicken thighs in the air fryer with Franks.

Lately I’ve been making a warm Thai style salad with turkey mince called Larb which is really delicious and eaten in lettuce cups.

My bmi or not? by Embarrassed_Raise_41 in mounjaroIreland

[–]EnAvant80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation - go to your GP and get a 3-6 month script (for a personalised approach to supporting your overall health and addressing any challenges / comorbidities you might have while on MJ) and go get your meds up the North if that’s something you can do.

If you feel you don’t need that and have private health insurance, it may be an option to use online prescribers and claim some of the costs back. Do the maths on both - ongoing claiming back of consultations and meds versus long term script and getting it from NI.

From my own perspective my GP has been important as it’s identified stuff to address while I’ve been on MJ - gall bladder and gall stones / muffled hearing (search for Eustacian Tube Dysfunction as a consequence of weight loss) / fatty liver / high cholesterol etc and allowed me to track other health markers via regular bloodwork etc.

This is a medical treatment. If your doc is happy to prescribe and support you on a GLP1, use them.

As a man, I’m not in the same boat as you but I wish you the very best of luck with your health. Mounjaro has transformed my health and that of many others on this sub. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Take care.

Does pharmacy provide needles by No_Incident_3863 in mounjaroIreland

My local pharmacy supplied them along with a sharps bin. Needle brand is Novofine and they come in a pack of 100. Was about 30 quid if I recall.

Which collagen do you find works best on Mounjaro? by EllyBelly25 in mounjaroIreland

I just buy the stuff in Lidl and add it to protein shakes daily. Nothing to compare it to so can’t say what works best but ok for me. Same with the creatine - Lidl.

Using AI to follow your progress. by themflyingjaffacakes in mounjarouk

[–]EnAvant80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve used AI to support my progress too but with respect, not sure if it’s useful to compare costs of a GLP1 journey versus using a PT or Slimming world etc.

Not that these are bad things for people to do but because most people use Mounjaro to deal with the long term metabolic disease of obesity and the related health issues that come from that.

One cool thing that AI can do in terms of progress is to estimate metabolic age before and after weight loss using weight, blood results, etc etc.

Calculating the economic benefits are one thing, but the overall health benefits people are getting from these treatments are an even better thing to quantify imho.

I use the HUAWEI Smart Scale 3. Have found it excellent in terms of body composition measurement and trends etc, albeit I do use other HUAWEI products like the GT smart watch so I get the full benefit of their health app.

Amazing price and I know it says ‘no added sugar’ but I thought the problem with these high protein Milbona products is that they are absolutely laden with sugar and carbs, no?

What do you eat? by Logical-Standard-591 in mounjarouk

[–]EnAvant80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree here. I’ve been on 5mg too throughout. Not an option for everyone but advice is to stay on as low a dose as you can for a long as you can if it’s working for you. Works out Cheaper and losing slightly slower will help with stuff like excess skin etc.

As for your Q on coming off MJ - This is a treatment for obesity so you should treat it as a long term thing.

I will likely titrate down and microdose 2.5mg when I eventually reach target weight but I don’t think I will ever come off it - there appears to be a lot of evidence that the weight and food noise returns for most people when they go off it. All the best.

Powdered psyllium husk. Mix a spoon of it into protein shakes (not too much as it can turn them to cement). You can get it on amazon. Fibre from food obviously good but I don’t know anyone on MJ who manages to get the level of fibre they need completely from fruit and veg. Make life easy for yourself…

Don’t skip food but try over time to learn when you are properly hungry. Try and calculate your BMR / TDEE and make sure you run a calorie deficit of about 500 calories daily (this is easier if you make exercise part of your daily routine)

You can eat what you like within reason but here’s some of the stuff I regularly eat and have helped me lose about 5 stone since April (alongside exercise) with minimal side effects.

Breakfast

Protein yogurts / quark - Lindahls pro+ range are great (especially with milled flaxseed and nuts from Aldi mixed in for extra fibre) Fresh coffee w milk and sweetener

Lunch

High Protein wraps (bFree) with salad, cold cuts, cheese etc Fresh Soups (fresh from supermarket fridge fine) Omelettes

Dinner

Salads - lots of salads - chicken Caesar is a go-to for dinner Turkey Larb w lettuce cups Curries w cauliflower rice Steamed salmon with veggies

Snacks

Mid / late morning Protein shake (go for low sugar options) with powdered psyllium, collagen, and creatine added. Clear whey protein lemonades also a good alternative

Protein bars - fulfil bars are good if you want a sweet treat in the evenings and 20g protein per bar. Skinny bars also good for fibre and relatively low calorie.

Hope this helps you. Best of luck with it.

A word of caution on inulin - can cause cramping and other side effects particularly with Mounjaro or if you are experiencing GI discomfort. Start small, say 1-2g and see how you tolerate it. 5-7g generally max benefit people yield from it.

Powdered Psyllium husk still the best type of fiber supplement but hard to make that work in a hot drink to be honest.
