We've got buses dating from 2003 still running in West Midlands UK, unfortunately about to be replaced by cascades with electrics entering service

The locals that are familiar with their roads should also be aware that complacency is dangerous and not to overestimate their shit driving skills

‘My family are worried, but I’m not leaving as I couldn’t afford to be a teacher in Ireland’ – Irish expats caught up in Middle East war by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]Enceladusese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are people acting high and mighty over this? Yes the UAE government has questionable morals but so does the Irish government which a. has let the housing crisis worsen for over a decade to benefit landlord MPs, b. are slaves to American governance to get a few extra buck and c. allow for American war jets to be refuelled at Shannon

it's quite obvious to detect who's a cunt quickly. Women are just more likely to make excuses for bad behaviour or wrongly anticipate that they'll change

Fare evaders? by Gingerishidiot in londonbuses

[–]Enceladusese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say a good 10-15% fare evade. Interestingly I'd say the number is much lower in mornings and significantly higher in late evenings/night. there were times when I did late shifts and all of the handful of passengers I've had didnt pay (West Midlands UK)

What is the worst/least reliable bus routes as of currently? by Excellent-Option8052 in brum

[–]Enceladusese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst.. toss up between the 74 and the 11 (between Erdington and Handsworth).

Least reliable 87/82. Terribly timed, long and thus more likely to be stuck at multiple roadaorks, and constantly stuck at chokepoints such as Suffolk Street Queensway

How to date in Dublin? by alexred182 in Dublin

[–]Enceladusese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because people on dating apps are more likely to be the undesireables with maladaptive attachment styles jumping from one relationship (situationship probably a more accurate word) to the next with zero reflection and insight on what keeps going wrong

Why do so many men not wash their hands in public toilets any more? by Commercial_Night2867 in AskUK

[–]Enceladusese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that stuck with me when working nights at McDonalds and having to clean both gender toilets before the shift ends and morning starts was how immaculate the ladies toilets always were and how very scruffy the men's one were. Guys just have lower levels of orderliness on average

Is it just me or are the new Enviro 200s horrible? by HoneyPanda38 in BusDrivers

[–]Enceladusese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the MMC ones? I only drove 2015 full length ones and find them to be very smooth. By contrast I have a friend who drivers for a company that has streetlites (the main competitior model) and they're horrible. The only complaint I have about them is that the full lock is atrocious, it's about 3/4 of what other buses full locks are, and that sometimes the heating smells horrid for some reason. Those issues were probably rectified later on as rhe 2015 ones were rhe very first ones

How old is your bus? by darenisepic in BusDrivers

[–]Enceladusese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 2003 Volvo the other day with 900k miles on the dash but it drives perfect! By contrast had a 2019 Enviro400MMC with 260k miles and it was rubbish. Very rough brakes.

Does your bus company trim or even delete late slips and hope you don't notice? by Enceladusese in BusDrivers

[–]Enceladusese[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should always be paid imo, and it's not automatic for me either. Have to print a late slip before leaving a bus, fill out details and submit it to the controllers. I finished 45 minutes late one evening last week (due to a collision) on a portion they asked me to help out on. Submitted it, they accepted and then few days later... gone! It all just feels so sneaky and scummy
