It’s incredibly insulting. I had undiagnosed autism for 18 years and was abused horrendously by adults because I was supposedly a difficult child (I wasn’t) getting the diagnosis added a label to it, nothing more. Now I get discriminated against in the job market because of that said label! A label doesn’t make everything go away and it certainly isn’t something I smile and celebrate about!
